Aron Ra (well known internet Atheist) made a video about how the Bible has no fulfilled prophecy. This is my response. We will be looking at what he said in context and will see that the Bible withstands the many criticisms he has for it. We will look at the prophecy of the suffering servant in Isaiah 53, the prophecy of the crucifixion in Psalm 22 and of the destruction of Tyre in Ezekiel 26.
I ask that the comments reflect mutual respect in the midst of disagreement. Thank you.

I use to be a militant atheist in college, but found Jesus while reading Scripture to try and find discrepancies and contradictions. It’s funny how Jesus revealed Himself to me when I was actively trying to disprove Him… there really is no greater love than Christ’s love for us.

A demonic spirit showed up in my room one night during a bad thunderstorm, I could feel it moving around the room, images were coming up on the tablet screen as it was moving around the room. A message popped up on the tablet screen, "You're going to Hell!" I was petrified laying in the fetal position. An image appeared on the tablet, of someone lying in the fetal position, it looked like an x-ray type image. When I thought it was over, I got up and grabbed my phone, a blue arc jumped from my phone to my fingertip then went up my arm into my head. At that exact moment, the tablet gets a notification that read, "YOU SEE WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO SEE!". I tried to pretend that what happened wasn't real. I started having nightmare about me being Hell. Each one got worse. After the third nightmare it was really bad. I couldn't deny it anymore I got saved that following Sunday and got Baptized two weeks after that. Praise God!!!

Almost none of the people who claim to be atheist understand the full implications. The only other option than belief is nihilism-you’re right. And nihilism is so obviously absurd and impossible that you can only accept it by throwing out every human sense and feeling.
Once we realize we must have a god, only one God satisfies. Only one scripture shows such astonishing complexity and clarity that is so clearly not human in origin. To put it another way: We keep making heresies because the heresies are more human. I’ve read every major religion’s scriptures and the minds of man are in so clearly in many.
God communicates for the present audience-how people are able to understand him- but also for future generations. The example of the bronze serpent was a simple act of faith to the Israelites, so striking that it slid over into Greek iconography of their healer god, was bizarre and almost contradictory...until we learn its other meaning in the gospel of John and the word for the rod of bronze leads us irresistibly into another prophesy of Isaiah.
There are so many other examples of these.

Funny how that works. You can show that Isaha 53 is probably not about Jerusalem, therefore your theory is affirmed. If only that worked in the real world. I can prove I don't have a Jeep. *waits for the Audi A5 to appear*
Ah well, It was worth a try. Let me ask you this: If the prophecy did come true, how would you know if it was actually fulfilled and not just someone trying to mold a story to fit previous prophecies like the writers of some of the gospels did in several ways, one of which was by mistakenly forcing the birth of Jesus to move from Bethlehem to Nazareth because the messiah was foretold to be a Nazarene, which is a member of a sect and not a person from Nazareth.
I really wonder if you find the prophecy fulfilled if you read all the gospels and compare them to each other and filter out the contradictions that simply can't be true. Like, did Jesus shut up? In which gospels did he and which didn't he? Would it be suspicious if Jesus was only told to have been silent to his prosecutors in the same gospels where the Nazarene mistake was inserted?
Modern scholars found a way to explain all the contradictions and impossibilities in the gospels: they're legends, each with their own themes and value. Not facts.

    • @SFT49
      @SFT49 5 ปีที่แล้ว +26

Setekh I’m a bit busy today, but I’ll address some of your concerns.
First, you just did what Mike describes in the video as a “dump.” Throwing a lot of misconstrued information all at once in the attempt to verify disbelief with misconceptions.
The Nazarene comment. Even if people misunderstood the language in the Old Testament as a prophecy of Jesus being a Nazarene, this doesn’t remove the fact that He was born in Bethlehem (a clear prophecy of the Messiah).
Jesus was silent in regards to His resistance to His persecution, knowing that He must die to give us the opportunity not to. This seems clear to me that this isn’t meant to be taken so literally that He literally didn’t say a word.
      I’ll stop there.
There are explanations to all criticisms of inconsistencies between the gospels, BUT I’ve found that plausible explanations will not convince most skeptics that the (small and insignificant) differences in the gospels don’t completely invalidate the points they all clearly agree on... Jesus’ deity, ministry, life, death, and resurrection. Anyone can convince them self to not believe, but in my years as a scientist, inherent skeptic, and follower of Christ, I have found that the evidence simply points to the reality that the God of the Bible clearly exists and that Jesus is Lord. He came to die so you don’t have to. Oppose this truth with whatever you can come up with, and disregard the legitimacy of the answers that address your concerns. But the Truth remains.

Hey Mike, you didn't comment on this in your stream, but Aron's statement at 44:43 that "most of [the Isaiah passage] is in past tense" is a further indication of his ignorance on the subject.
Ancient Hebrew didn't have a time-based tense system, but an aspect-based system ("aspect" simply being how an author depicts a verb, either as completed or incomplete). Thus, Hebrew had perfect and imperfect tenses, but not past, present, or future tenses. We often translate perfect tenses as past (since most of our completed actions are done in the past), but Ancient Hebrew speakers could--and often did--use the perfect tense to refer to contemporaneous or future events. In fact, Hebrew grammarians recognize a "prophetic perfect" that was utilized by Hebrew authors. This perfect usage probably developed as a way to convey the certainty of prophecies, as the prophet was so sure that the prophecy would occur that it was as if YHWH had already completed it.
That's a small detail, I know, but it just goes to show how little time Aron invested in investigating these claims.

Hope you wont try to claim civil war was about money or states right, rather than slavery. its a ridiculous argument. Its was about the STAE RIGHT, to OWN SLAVES. They opposed states rights to oppose slavery in the north. Also, if it was about the economic advantage of slavery, then they would have simply allowed slavery in the north. if it was cause it was not economically viable, as some claim, I would like to point out that the north was smarter than those whom make the claim, if it was not profitable they would allow it to fail. they passed no law against butchering your stock and leaving it to rot, cause nobody would be stupid enough to do that, and if they were it would be there problem.

This is exactly how Bill Maher did it in his brutally un-researched 'film' Religulous and how the chumps at ZEITGEIST did their pseudo-documentary. Since they speak with such perceived certainty and dismissive confidence, those who also don't do the research get fooled quickly. I had a long conversation with a fellow who had SOME faith at one point but it melted away the minute he saw Zeitgeist and he realized he'd been duped, or so he thought - until I showed him how flawed Zeitgeist was!
Sometimes, as Mike here has noted...people find the surface level answers they want (confirmation-bias) and they don't do the necessary work to dig deeper to test if what they believe is true. Aron Ra is one but many on the fence believers may also be looking for that way out - like in an MMA fight...the fighter is mentally done, so they offer up their neck to be submitted so they can tap out but still look like they were honestly beaten. Instead, they were looking for a way out.
Mike here is helping folks like Aron realize (should he chose to open his eyes) that dismissing Christianity is NOT so easy, not at all. In fact, it is PURE folly.

I love it when people want to act like the basic principals of public health can't be found in Levitical law.

Being a former Atheist myself, I love to talk with atheists, and agnostics, that really have a honest curiosity for facts about what the are claiming. But because I was once an Atheist myself, I also know, many atheists are only repeating what they hear, and what another atheist claims..... but have never taken the time to honestly verify such claims, and most of them just want to argue for the sake of argue, or show off what they supposedly “know”. I don’t waste my time with the laters, for they don’t really care about facts, (which really shows their ignorance) and they tend to be mockers, belittling and disrespectful; for that is what abusive people, and Narcs do, when they don’t have a good intelligent, thought through argument), and just act upon their negative feelings against Christianity, and God. But I must admit, many times I find them amusing, with their boasting and them showing off their own ignorance. Which I don’t even have to help them doing so, for they do a pretty good job on their own. But with the very intelligent ones, and honest, is an honor and a delight to have a conversation with them, exchange of ideas, and facts, even if the don’t change their mind. Some of the are such beautiful souls, and people. I pray that they open their heart to the Lord, know, and experience God’s Salvation.

I'm an atheist, what shall we talk about? Why didn't you believe when you were younger and now do?

@@JonGrove-ub8cvThank-you for actually just asking a question and wanting an authentic conversation! It's refreshing to see an atheist that doesn't start the discussion with mocking or insults.

@@kladies3021 you haven't made any unfounded claims. I think most atheists I encounter and myself included, simply have issues with opinions being stated as facts.
I have no problem with someone believing, I don't myself, but I get it can bring hope and comfort to people. I'd never want to take away from that.
I just resent people stating unsubstantiated opinions as facts. If you believe it fine, just don't expect others to if you can't prove it.

I just found your channel - this is only the 2nd one im watching and i can not say i agree with everything - but who of us knows the Bible to perfection ? - with that said i will watch more videos just on the basis that you carry yourself as a true Christian - you humble yourself and you work to understand the Word and i have more respect for that than i could ever express in words - i came across steve anderson and the way you handled that was great - you used Wisdom - knowledge is our downfall - Wisdom is from God - thank you - in this day and age you are a rarity - keep the faith and prayer - it will not let you down - again thank you

Thanks for the good information! I've noticed that Aaron plays pretty fast and loose with the facts almost all the time. I've heard him say things that are clearly false but the thing is he says it confidently....I guess that's why he has a lot of followers. I'm glad you are calling him on some of this stuff.

@Blaster Master I am sorry you have had that experience with believers. It goes both ways...and I think the reason is that a lot of times these are important issues and sometimes people get sensitive about them pretty quickly. It reminds me of the professor who said "many people...when they should strengthen their argument...resort to raising their voice".
Aron Rah is a smart guy and he can speak well. Other than that I find his arguments weak. Look at his debate with Fuz Rana. It's actually one of the more civil debates I've seen him in...but the interesting thing is that even though I've seen AR make detailed arguments related to abiogenesis when Fuz challenges him on it he backs way off of it and makes it sound like he's much stronger in other areas of argument. I don't think he is. He has come up with some BS tricks which are really hallow boxes and he acts like it's really something. He wants to tell biologists how things work... and he wants to tell organic chemists how they are wrong. Really? Look at what AR says and compare it to what James Tour says about abiogenesis. Abiogenesis is exactly organic chemistry and there is nobody out there with better credentials in the field or more widely respected that James Tour. I'll listen to what he says about it....not AR. AR makes WAY too broad claims. Like he was there when it happened like he is the only one in the world who knows how it all happened. Nonsense. Any serious player in these scientific disciplines knows that it's nowhere near as cut and dry as AR claims... that is if they are honest.

@The Truth what are you smoking? "Any apologetic (I assume you mean apologist) wants to keep his followers as blind as he is?" Are you sure you aren't talking about Aron Ra?

    • @bobmartin6162
      @bobmartin6162 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The Truth do you just parrot what other people say or do you ever do any research to uncover "the truth"? I'm not sure what "gatherings" you are talking about but people have given their lives to destroying the bible only to figure out it's not "fiction" at all. Sir William Ramsay is one of them. His research led him to believe that the author of one of the books you speak about (Acts) was "an historian of the first rank". Aron, on the other hand, is full of fairy tales.
