Hi!! I just bought this filter like 3 hrs ago. I had a difficult time with the impeller cover and intake tube... the cover and tube both fell off while in my tank. I unplugged it and fixed it but it should be ok to use it, right?? I mean the motor is meant to be submerged in the tank. I saw a video online that this same brand of filter caught on fire once so it made me kinda nervous. I love marine land and have been using this brand for 25 yrs and have never had an issue. I was just wondering what your thoughts are on this. Thanks and awesome video!!!
The impeller cover falls off very easily. On the sides of the cover you will see four little indents and all four have be pushed inside the housing. I use a little rubber mallet and give it a gentle wack to get them to seat. As for the fire, it was the user's fault and he did post a retraction, but it didn't get as much attention as the first. I've had no issues with these filter and have 2 running now. Thanks for watching.
remove the motor from the housing, look in the bottom of the motor and should see a rubber grommet with a hole in the center, push the impeller shaft (pin) into the hole firmly, slide the impeller over the shaft and the magnet will hold it in place.
I ran my 450 for 2 months then shut it down. The media baskets are very limited., they will clog even on a light load . The spray bar uses unfiltered water onto the bio wheels unless you use an intake pre filter. The center media basket shortly becomes a mess. The 400 was a better design .
I use hang on filters as mechanical filters only and have no expectations beyond that. The old design also had unfiltered water onto the bio wheels, I see so difference in that design and this. Thanks for the comment.

Can you charge the micron cartridge in this filter model with diatomaceous earth?
I would assume you could by allowing the filter to suck up the diatoms in a slurry mixture. Not sure, good question.
awesome video. i like how you post your vids...informative and straight forward but positive...thanks man
Thank you Benny.
