Stig, your enthusiasm for aircraft maintenance is truly amazing. Your commitment to coming down to Miami from Los Angeles to assist our students is commendable. Your dedication to their education is inspiring. A big shoutout to all the upper management at American Airlines for their generous support, both financially and by providing personnel. American Airlines went above and beyond by providing airfare and arranging very nice hotel accommodations for the students during their stay. It's this collaborative effort that makes our annual trip to the MRO a success. Thank you all for your unwavering commitment to our students' success! I also want to give a special shoutout to the American Airline technicians in Miami, Florida, who went above and beyond to prepare these students. It was because of them that we had our success. And a huge thank you to Elena Gonzalez, whose invaluable contributions in so many ways played a crucial role in our achievements.
Hey Stig!! A huge thanks for this video! To me it was just fantastic seeing some amazing new tooling …. Dent mapper wow! The TR troubleshooting brings memories, but the most important was never ever drop any of those tiny screws down into the throttle quadrant. Was laughing hard at the safety box 😅 all aircraft mechanics can relate and it’s the only profession that uses this skill. I still have scars from .041 safety wire. As an Army veteran doing the rotor alignment isn’t appreciated until you’re up on the top of the chopper in the field doing that…. But then that’s true for every event. Congratulations to you all! Watching this really makes me feel proud of being an A&P. Thanks and stay safe out there. And we all got some semblance of what Stig looks like 👍
Thanks for the trip report and a super thanks for providing insight and promoting the typically unseen but important work of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians in the Airline Industry to the social media/internet audience. As a retired Airline Mechanic and Aerospace Industry worker, I appreciate that you are using the power of the internet to show what Mechanics do daily and the level of technical knowledge needed to maintain aircraft in an airworthy condition. Working mostly behind the scenes but accomplishing the important jobs that keep airplanes safe to fly, your videos do a fantastic job and are a credit to all Mechanics and Aircraft Maintenance Support staff. Again, thanks for the video on your visit to MRO Americas Conference. Enjoyed it. 👍- LIKE.
Thanks for the journey Stig. as a pilot it’s amazing to see and learn about the maintenance side of aviation from someone with such passion and a huge thank you for all you to keep us flying and safe.
Yes they truly are the unsung heroes of aviation. Under appreciated and over worked yet nobody sees and knows them until recently but they are the backbone of aviation. May God bless them for keeping us safe.
Hello my friend enjoying your vlog today having started watching a few weeks ago you mentioned to comment when we felt compelled well over 50 yrs ago I joined the Air Force to fulfill my duties in the military my best friend and I joined together in the Aircraft maintenance field he chose fuel cell and I choose Crew Chief .I worked on Prop Aircraft all my 4yrs my split half & half Prop and Jet. I enjoy your maintenance logic clear and clean, hard working, but you Keep It Simple Possible .Like today in you vlog when you were doing Safety wiring composition, you brought back the old days when I used to have to Safety Wiring on EC121 AWACS Costallation Aircraft at McClellan AFB,CA .In a year ago I was attaching Bamboo to an a fence I decided to use wire to secure the Bamboo to the current fence in place and I had forgotten that how easy it was to make the wiring with the Safety wiring technique I had learned 50 yrs ago and hadn't use since came in handy. Again Thank You for taking the time to make you Channel it enjoy it a great deal and I'm sure my compadre that's part is part of the "Great Cloud of witnesses that is looking down on use cheering us on!.
Thank you so much for the incredible story that you share with me. I want to say thank you for your service as well in the Air Force. You have achieved something very incredible through 50 years of aviation.
Great video Stig🤙!! I learned from my aircraft technician friend that crimping is better than soldering. That's why the aerospace and automotive industries do that.
Ahhhhhh, another video from STIG Aviation! Let’s all give him a standing ovation! Lord knows, he makes lots of friends. For each of them, he’ll go to all ends. Kneeling, bending and stretching to get the job done. It may be hard work but we know he has fun! His Company is blessed to have his expertise. Although, it won’t be long before he’ll need a new set of knees! If you happen to be in STIG’s neck of the woods, wave to him and smile. You know he would. Good old STIG. Our pal and our friend. Please watch his videos to the very end! 😊
Stig, this was really an impressive and interesting video. Certainly would be neat to just be able to roam around this entire event. Thanks for sharing.
This looks like a super cool experience Stig and we appreciate you documenting all of this for our viewing. Keep up all the hard work, all of us here really enjoy your content and I personally learn a lot from it!
@stig I work for a large precision metrology company and this was the first MRO show we attended. If I knew you were going to be there, I would have gone looking for you!
You mentioned you've attended AMC/MRO for the last three years; Seems we probably bumped elbows In Atlanta last year. I was on the PIA Hagerstown Campus team. All I can say is WOW. Most incredible event I've attended. The scope can't be appreciated unless you're there. Thanks for showcasing this. More people need to be aware of it.
Most likely we probably did run into each other, I was on the LAX team from my carrier. And if you were there last year, then you saw me on stage as well, I was the one who won the Pratt & Whitney event.
Yeah. Quite a difference working on isolated components as oppesed to working on 'em in place on the plane. Lot more accessibility. Not a complaint, just an observation.
I go to Cincinnati State Technical School and i think ill try to convince the head of the program to get us going to this conference. Thanks for showing it off!

Hello Stig my friend. 😊 You put out another truly wonderful and amazing video today. I loved watching you work on that engine, and it was awesome watching the students put what they have learned to use, with a little bit of an assist from the judges. Thank you Stig!! I never knew this competition was even a thing before you mentioned it a couple video's back. You rock and don't worry about taking too long to upload a video
Awesome video stig!!! I love all of them. But this is such a cool look behind the scenes of training and thr fun you really have. Kudos to you my friend
Hey man great video, i competed for the first time this year at the AMC. Im pretty sure I, unknowingly, talked with you. You explained the transparencies window plug to me.
Stig, the DMC test was interesting, after assembling the head onto the crimp tool we have to close the crimp tool and check it with a Go/NoGo guage to check the head is crimping correctly befor use.
Wow what a video I sure do enjoy it and seeing yall.Learn all different new items. Sure do enjoy videos keep up the good work and I am a subscriber to your channel.😊
Nice, saw y’all on the jetnet news. Looked like fun. Those school guys are working hard, good to see that dedication and hard work! Sometimes I miss the wrench turning, but then I think it’s funner to break things.
Very impressive competition. Never knew this went on in the industry. Great job on your competition and bringing this to everyone! As a LEGO fanatic, loved seeing LEGO Engine! Impressive!! Keep up the great work Stig! You are making our aerospace industry amazing and safe!!
Good ol safety wire, like giving blood without the needle and with safety wire pinching pliers. I remember using that stuff in the Navy working on arresting gear. Had a pair of pliers break on me once and we had to finish wiring by hand as we were in a hurry to finish our work with flight ops starting with aircraft overhead for recovery.
Nice video 👍 I’ve been in the industry since 1988 and although I’ve not worked for an airline since 2015, I’m currently working for an MRO here in England that was displaying in Chicago, you briefly see their stand around the 55 minute mark 😁
There are some TH-cam channels I see notifications for and think “I’ll get to that when I have time later.” Then there are others that I don’t even think, I perk right up and start watching that same second. Stig’s channel is the latter 😊
Stig This was very cool. Your explanations of each station was critical. Most people wouldn’t go to all the trouble. Also did you explain the team selection process in an earlier video? Last, you got to tell us what kind of plane you’re flying on. Hope you had a great time. This is bigtime promotion of AMT careers.
This was definitely a tough video to make but I hope it came out good. As for selecting the teams, that’s done through the respective airlines and schools and branches of military. They will simply register for it and fund the team. The aircraft I was flying on was a 321 coming back home
@@StigAviation I know it was tough. The edits and cuts were very good. We got a Stig appearance. That’s a bonus. I liked that everyone was into it. Nobody drunk standing around. You even explained who the speakers were. I’ll watch it again. There was a lot.
I was wondering if the procedures for the events were known ahead of time, allowing you to think about it ahead of time? Also, how many of these tasks are somewhat regularly done by participants in their jobs? Seems like maybe specifics are contrived but based on commonly done types of work you'd be proficient in. Wires, panels, fasteners, following steps correctly, careful about details, accessing spaces..etc. In other words, did the tasks feel like learning something new or was it all familiar and challenge to do well and quick? It's pretty clever that this convention makes what would otherwise be just a standard product/services showcase into an engaging set of events for better participation. Thanks for this video! Never would have known this kind of thing exists otherwise.
They give the information prior to the event, but there’s always a little bit of a surprise here and there to make technicians think on their feet. It’s a challenging process, but also very fun

"If its in the air, MX put it there!" a very common chant for MX groups within the USAF. When i worked B-1s back at Dyess AFB every commanders call, promotion ceremony, PME graduation.. That was heard for any and all personnel that works in MX.
And it’s so true as well, if it is in the air, it’s because my brothers and sisters and maintenance put it there and keep it there. The comical part of Keep it Up .. LITERALLY 🤣
is a pleasure to watch a maintenance technology in aviation industry, and watch it on Stig wonderful chennal is more pleasure too Use ingineuse technology and enjoy powerfully supported competition...wow wow. please keep your excellent contents up 👏👏👏My all respect to you from 🇩🇿🇩🇿.
It was definitely an interesting challenge. Nothing i would do fast in the real world but it put our communication skills and attention to manuals skills to the test. We actually did it in 10 something minutes but missed a few steps and got penalties that took us beyond 15 minutes. Which is completely fine. We still had fun. UA did an incredible job. Love all the UA teams. Some of the best mechanics I have ever met.

1:15:11. I’m sitting two rows in front of you in the PIA MYR shirt. I wish I had have know you were there is would have loved to meet you. I’ve absolutely loved your videos!
I’m sure we bumped into each other, and I’m sure you saw me at the competition. Hopefully next year you attend and we can meet up over there
been waiting for 2 weeks, worth it!
Forgive the delay. It’s been so hectic few weeks. But I’m glad I got to share this experience
Im airforce they had Rodeo a competition of best maintained bestlooking aircraft. We won in 1983. I had never heard of it before either. Good luck.
If you get a chance i would definitely recommend you go next year. It will be in Atlanta
LITERALLY 🤣
Thanx for sharing Stig & crew.
Southwest lets goo!!! love southwest best airlines there is.. but i was hoping you guys would win but theres always a next time
They did an amazing job. They earned that title of number 1 🏆
Thank you stig
Thank you Pety
My absolute favorite video so far. We (PW) need to give you a PW1500G. I’ll propose something to the powers that be for next year ❤ Gina (PW CTS)

Thank you very much and I’m happy you enjoyed it
I recognized Greg as soon as I saw him in your video I see him on air disaster on discovery very knowledgeable
He’s an absolute legend and an incredible teacher
I hope you enjoyed my airline's 767 slide challenge haha, welcome to Chicago
It was definitely an interesting challenge. Nothing i would do fast in the real world but it put our communication skills and attention to manuals skills to the test. We actually did it in 10 something minutes but missed a few steps and got penalties that took us beyond 15 minutes. Which is completely fine. We still had fun. UA did an incredible job. Love all the UA teams. Some of the best mechanics I have ever met.
