      Professor, if a canadate cannot physically travel to Washington D.C would they be willing to do everything from a different location through a video call?

    I’m curious, how does one get teaching experience? I’m trying to figure this out right now, not really interested in becoming a professor but I enjoy teaching and would like to do more of it.

      The most common path these days is through a Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) appointment. Many law schools give new scholars a VAP, which in turn prepares them for permanent positions.

      @@Learnlawbetter thanks. So you’d take one of those and then never become a full professor. Interesting.

      Right. Some never move beyond a one year VAP. This year, my law school is interviewing several VAPs. The VAP gets them an interview for a permanent job, but no guarantee of the job.

    Can you become a law professor with a master’s degree in law ?

    • @Learnlawbetter
      @Learnlawbetter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The minimum requirement is a JD or an LLB if you are from another country. In very rare circumstances, a law school might hire a non-lawyer to teach classes. For example, when I was a student, one of my profs had a PhD in some discipline outside of law-political science I think. But again, there are very few people like this, and likely only at extremely large law schools.

    Hello sir I'm from India and I did my phd in law on the topic juvenile delinquency a socio legal aspect how can i become assistant professor in America?

      If you go to AALS.org you will find the information for applying through their process. Applications are due in July or August, and then law schools reach out to candidates for a first interview. They will want to see published articles and an impressive record up to this point. This could mean judicial clerkships or significant experience of some sort.

      US law school positions are extremely competitive. Generally, fewer than 100 open positions a year. But yes, a PhD will help, especially if it’s not in law. This is because some law schools are looking for interdisciplinary scholars.

      Each law school is different and makes decisions as to their hiring priorities. Evidence of scholarly impact is established when you have published articles before applying for a job.

    Hello! Have you read all those heavy books behind you? O_O I am not really into reading but have interests in studying law. Do you think I can survive? :( Thanks!

    • @Learnlawbetter
      @Learnlawbetter  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The law is found in thousands of books, with lawyers reading very little of it. The books are reference for when we need the law. That’s why law libraries are so large, and many books never opened.
