Always wanted to be a sushi chef, I might take the course. it's 3,000 dollars tho haha but I think it is an amazing start for someone who really wants this as a career. Master? no but it a huge step into becoming a master. this training will probably get you a guranteed job at a local sushi place if not an apprenticeship with a master sushi chef. things to considered.
Does someone knows any online course to the basics of sushi and other japanese recipes. I know it will never be the same as real course but I just want to learn the basics.
well. 2 month is to train the basic of sushi making but it will take a whole life to improve yourself to served better sushi everyday. that what we called shokunin how we boiled wild shrimp, what temperature, how long we boiled, the timing even your own "Gari" recepie and what style you choose? Edomae? fushion?
I love yoursushi technique abd demo video and life story and student feed back and successful stories. Mahalo and Aloha from Mililan Oau, Hawaii! please continue to share your post and I will share it on Facebook with friends n=and family
Colossus the Col For example, if you use a metaphor of Napoleon to explain English culture, it's rude to English people, needless to say. Don't you understand that easy thing?
Or here’s an idea, find a buffet or a mom and pop shop and move up you can find amazing chefs if you make this a way of life, learn basics and speed there at the “low end” and then you’ll have the hardest part done, “sushi chef” on your resume
That's what I thought! The rice seems like jasmine. I'm a chef, and I love to learn different cuisines. Lately I have tried to learn to make sushi on my own through books, and videos from master sushi chefs. I have a lot of respect to those people who dedicate years to learn, and learning Japanese food to me is kind of a hobby and love for the Japanese culture. I purchase my products at an Asian market, trying to buy Japanese ingredients as possible. I always thought that sushi was made with jasmine rice, however, sushi rice has different characteristics. Greetings!
wow! becoming a sushi chef is indeed easy - 2 months! maybe they can compile tutorial videos and upload them here on youtube, and who knows, I could be a sushi chef just by watching those videos!!!
Soon there will be tutorial videos labeled "How to become a sushi making expert in 10 minutes!!!" and we'll have people throwing home parties with the slogan: "Imma go over to Denny's and become a sushi chef". Gawd.... everything in this world is turning into results in the shortest amount of time, I can't believe that the traditional Japanese values of patience are getting thrown out of the window.
Well I bought my husband the BBQ bible. And Lord I say you. He is very good. Awesome. We purchase electric smoker for our balcony. We love running during winter too. Laying on our outdoor couch with TV above. Smelling the apple wood. And meat. I am sushi, but learn on own from TH-cam and trial and error. My husband likes tuna and salmon with avocado.
Lols. Sushi chefs train their whole lifes to perfect their craft, but now you can assume that one is now a "master" with this 2 month course! I can imagine these future people saying in their new restaurant, "I have trained hard for two months." Lol.
Look at 1:59 how he cut the roll ! Sooooo very wrong! The whole concept of this is so dubious and only a money maker. NO real sushi master would offer such a thing or would participate in such an offer.
This is an example of the new American norm of education or trade. We have replaced a lengthy focused apprenticeship with a quick, expensive course the outcome of which is some kind of certificate. These people seem to have standards, but most do not. Skill has gone out of a lot of trades because of it.
you can achieve a level of sort some of competence within two months, but there's no way to become a master of anything, let alone sushi, in 2 months. The sensei seems very nice, though. :)
It doesn't take 10 years to make a sushi chef. Just as it didn't take 6 years to make a candle maker Japan is still stuck in medieval guild mentality and just take as an excuse to have their own personal slave.
He seems like a very skilled sushi chef, but I have very little faith in him being able to produce high-quality students in such a short time period. He was making fun of the fact that his pupils wanted to speed through all of the lessons from sharpening knives, to making sushi rice, to making nigiri; of course they want to speed through it, it's such a short course. I think the Sushi Chef Institute will have a very poor reputation, unless Chef Matsuda changes his curriculum.
i am not even Asian i dont hate anyone but reason why i say that is because i like asian martial arts and asia history is full of masters thats why i love them i am from Europe i am not racist so dont hate if you dont understand me
Master sushi in 2 months? Might as well say, "Buy this book or class! You too can be a martial arts black belt in a month or however short time." There is a reason why sushi is expensive.
You know how America's education system is quickly becoming a big business right? The term "diploma mills" tossed around to describe institutes and colleges that accept students to take their money and give them a certificate after a short time. That's the kind of vibe I'm getting from this video. Sushi Chef Institute, something fishy about it...
This is truly what Sushi's about, come show respect for the teachers and lots of stories behind one nigiri, love & respect.
more of chef david. and sushi episodes. love you EATER. MORE POWERS AND BLESSINGS

go to Japan and live near Tsukiji for a couple of months. Try to study how tuna and other seafood are graded and selected.
Great investment for your future tho. You’d make that back in no time.
The last words of wisdom from the woman is gold! Thank you ✌🏾
Does someone knows any online course to the basics of sushi and other japanese recipes. I know it will never be the same as real course but I just want to learn the basics.
Andy was my sensei...he's really knowledgeable.
well.

Why do they have a poster of the Commercial Fishes of India?
WOW, that looks so tasty.

If you not a dumb, at least you should distinguish between Japanese and Chinese.
+Kiyoshi LnE what are you talking about..?
Colossus the Col
For example, if you use a metaphor of Napoleon to explain English culture, it's rude to English people, needless to say. Don't you understand that easy thing?
+Kiyoshi LnE oh the irony.... enjoy life
nah he's in japan. jiro is in japan. He's so booked it takes years to even get a seat at the restaurant.
Or here’s an idea, find a buffet or a mom and pop shop and move up you can find amazing chefs if you make this a way of life, learn basics and speed there at the “low end” and then you’ll have the hardest part done, “sushi chef” on your resume

I may be wrong, but are they using jasmine rice in making the sushi?
Also, 2 months seems like a rather short time to become a "master"
The people that come up with the title at eater sometimes makes clickbait-y titles.

+Amie Ichikawa haha i was pretty sure short grain was stubbier :/
+Aloysius Soong u were pretty right 😄

Can you go there if you a kid?
I'd rather call it well trained sushi chef. But master? no. It's a big insult to REAL sushi masters.
amen xD

lol you're six months late thats why you cant see it.
see what that you can't read
yes hes a trained sushi chef but it doesnt mean that hes not a master.

Come to Australia, please.

good mythical crew anyone?
Why are there always a bunch of wannabe professional food critics in the comment sections of videos like this
Look at 1:59 how he cut the roll ! Sooooo very wrong! The whole concept of this is so dubious and only a money maker. NO real sushi master would offer such a thing or would participate in such an offer.
spoken like a true sushi chef...where pray tell are you working? asshat.

It was all in good fun. We have to be able to laugh at ourselves sometimes =)
Andy Matsuda saving up money to goto this school
10 years in 2 months , just alike yur driverslicence

Get your paper. But this goes against what it means to be a sushi chef.
It doesn't take 10 years to make a sushi chef. Just as it didn't take 6 years to make a candle maker

Vegan sushi please
nigiri the rice ball technique is so hard. OH my god.
先生 is a form of mister isn't it?
If anything, wouldn't 老师 be more appropriate?

Wtf... no one can make sushi in 2 months this dude is bs.
Sushi Chef.....in two months talk about a low standard.
I don't like him, please discard
what an a-hole you are.
+Kenneth Wong yes, Sir!
I don't dislike him, but the curriculum of his school is doubtful.
The school should be 2 years, not 2 month. He just makes off-quality sushi maker.
hi 1st comment
Congrats!
Its easy for Asians because they are all masters lol
i am not even Asian i dont hate anyone but reason why i say that is because i like asian martial arts and asia history is full of masters thats why i love them i am from Europe i am not racist so dont hate if you dont understand me
It’s not easy, we just are more disciplined and work harder cause we gotta protect our family name and face
Asian don't rasin.

0:42 CRINGE
brace yourselves for subpar sushi sensei.
All this guy needs is the Umami woman to join him and spam the word Umami into my ears. Terrible.

Jews don't ear sushi
Putting sushi in your ear seems like an awful waste of good fish. 😆
I'm unsubscribing
