You answered a lot of my questions. Now, I understand why I can't get sharp lines when masking. Thanks for the information

Great video well done. One thing to remember is to keep your tape enclosed as much as possible and keep it stored away from sunlight or bright lights. This breaks down the tape.

I use that thin detailing pin striping tape from the auto parts store. The roll I get has three different sizes on it. The narrow for trim lines and making bends around corners. Then mask with the painters tape or masking tape to cover. The blue Painter tape is about .005'' thick, the vinyl detailing tape is about half that thickness.

This guy is correct; the automotive fine line tape is a bit more pricey but trust me also, it works!! If you want a good tight edge this is what you need.

Great info! The Tamiya tape is great, but you're right...the price is a little much for what you get. I'll have to invest in some of the 3m tape for sure. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for this video, very good information. A tip I've found to remove dust off the edges of tape rolls it to use other tape! Stick it on and peel it off and the dust comes right off.

Great video on tape Andy. I use only automotive type tape and I get it from our paint supplier for the autobody shop. Like you said, you get 4-5X more tape for the same money. Keep these great videos coming bud. Keep on building.

@GetYourModelOn problem with frog tape is it's thick , it has the extra "paint block" layer that reacts against latex paints,.. but it will also leave a tall ridge , due to it's thickness.
in the case of models ..the thinner the tape the better.

My first ever model kit was the 1/350 scale USS New York LPD and I was using just generic masking tape for painters. When I took it all off it wasn't terrible but there was a little bit of bleed through on some of the edges and there was tape glue residue left on the model.
I wont make that mistake again...

@chev12olet Auto paint supply shops ,, you can also get it online from places like tcp global. ..Even with shipping it's worth the price if you get 3-4 different size rolls.
