I can't express how amazing your videos are. Everything is explained so thoroughly with a step by step process. No fluff just right to the point and honest, love it! After years and years being a detail enthusiast and watching videos on TH-cam your videos are by far my favorite! Keep up the great work!
Thank you kindly, Zach, and glad to hear that you're gaining so much from our videos. We try our best to do exactly as you stated...make them high quality, very informative, without fluff or overblown hype. Please be sure to share our channel accordingly!
I truly have learned quite a lot from your videos, a lot on coatings that I wasn't aware of. A lot of amazing product reviews that have helped me decide on certain products. Subscribed and looking out for future videos! Thank you
im more of a motorcycle guy but ive recently gotten a really clean mustang that im now trying to figure out everything i can to take good care of it, been watching several of your videos now and thanks for making this stuff easy to understand.
I stumbled on this channel yesterday. I have to say I absolutely love your videos! They are easy to watch because the host is real, down to earth and knows what he is talking about, and I learn a lot of stuff. Also big props to Todd for doing videos at your age. Most guys on TH-cam are young and have a lot of energy, but you are knowledgeable and easy going (in a good way) and you see you have a passion for car detailing.
Todd! You were the one that brought me into detailing over 5 years ago when I purchased my own vehicle. It went from being a hobby to more of a side gig I do now! I forgot the name of the individual who I used to read articles ages ago about a Nighthawk black pearl TL being corrected. When I started to see some videos of you on Obsessed Garage your name seemed to ring a bell! Easily one of the best detailers in the industry!!
Thanks for reaching out, and glad to hear that I was able to bring you good information way back then (that TL article was epic!). Be sure to subscribe...lots of fantastic information on our channel!
@Nat N By adding multiple layers of different products...yes, that is exactly what you are trying to do, which was his point. The chemists who designed the coating that you paid for know what they are doing. If you don't believe this, don't get the coating, that's pretty simple.
@Nat N what in the hell are you talking about? I said believe, not belief - so let me rephrase if you do not trust what the chemist says - does that help? You're welcome pot.
A really excellent video that explains the do's and DON'TS of washing and maintaining that ceramic coat or good sealant. Blows all the myths into the bin thank god!! I thought that about detailing sprays and this confirms it. Thus use a Pre Wash Foam and wash and after wash spray that suits what you have on the car. I know Car Pro has a Foam pre wash that both breaks down grime and then adds a ceramic type protection to the paint of a car WITHOUT a existing sealant, wax or coating. But I assume with a top quality Ceramic coated car you would use a PH neutral Foam plus PH neutral bucket wash to clean car properly without harming the coating then after drying hit with CURE,Over Coat, Spritz or Reload type of spray. I think this is what you are saying here. Enjoy all your videos and great in depth tips on looking after your car. Even here in Australia where its been crazy HOT!!!!! Cheers mate. Just one more question, would using Cosmic Spritz like you do over your existing Ceramic coat whether CQUARTZ, GYEON or KAMIKAZI give it even better gloss or as I read using Titanium in their mixture give a greater WOW sparkle factor. I do have a sense of adventure with trying different things.
Thanks for the excellent feedback! Yes, we do our best to cut through hype and fluff, and just tell it like it is. As for your question...yes, it does add just a little something extra!
I will be doing my 1st install of a kamikaze coating. Normally I dont install customer supplied products, but in this case I have made an exception because of the stellar reviews. I am a certified installer with System X ceramic coatings and I'm curious to see how this install compares to System X. I will be using Kamikaze ultimate kit.
TOD I NOTICED IN THIS VIDEO WHEN HE WAS DRYING THE CAR WITH AIR HE WAS USING A RED HANDLE WITH A BLACK RUBBER TIP AIR GUN WHAT BRAND IS IT AND WERE CAN IT BE PURCHASED LIKE I ALWAYS SAY YOU'RE VIDEOS ARE NUMBER # 1 AND VERY INFORMATIVE
I am learning so much from your videos. I am in a rural area with a TRX that I had ceramic put on and i just dont know how good the detailers are. My question is, can you safely go through a touchless car wash in the winter with this coating? I do not have the space in my garage to wash during the winter.
Todd, for winter maintenance of a coated car what about rinseless washing...when done properly. Will the polymers in ONR leave anything behind that would have a negative impact on a coating? I don't have access to running water in the winter and I don't see myself going to the local car wash dragging 2 buckets and a bunch of wash gear along. Thanks and appreciate your input to the community!
Rich...personally, I do not like using ONR on coated vehicles. However if it's a last resort for winter cleanup, then you must do what you've got to do!
Now I used 9H primer by PA --followed by V2 PA --followed by SPRITZ PA. Shall I now use California Gold Carnauba Cleaner Wax to protect it all? Or leave it... thanks for feedback. Love your channel. Learned so much.
Leave it alone...you won't gain anything, you will spend extra time and money, and you could potentially go backwards in terms of both looks and durability.
Hi! I am absolutely loving your channel! It's helping me alot to maintain my car. I just had my car coated with Gyeon Prime and would like to use Cure to help maintain the coating. If I want to use Cure during the drying process, should I just spray some on my waffle/silk drying towel? Or directly on the panel I want to dry? Or am I better off just normally drying my car with the towels (without Cure) and then go over each panel with a microfiber cloth and Cure?
Great video! I have learned a lot over the years from autogeek, AMMO, and other you tubers and just discovered you guys and love your content. But I have a question on this vid. I understand the concept of not putting a wax on top of a coating as you are only enjoying the wax at that point. But by doing so would you not also prolong the life of the coating by protecting it from environmental exposure? Other than the $1000+ vanity waxes that come in amazing packaging/presentation but don't seem to do anything more than a $150-300 pot, coatings are the most expensive part of paint protection. Plus it never seems like coating maintenance sprays deliver as much as they promise regardless of brand. Thanks for any advice you can provide!
A good coating maintenance is going to last longer on the coating than any wax will, and is going to be much quicker to apply. So given that, you have no reason to even use the wax.
So you say that before a carshow you shouldnt put swisswax crystal rock on top just to get more depth and shine regardless off hydrofobicity and lasting and afterwards stripwash/dry it of with prefered product? And maybe dry it with cure or foam it over a 2nd time with bathe+ after cleaning are done and then rinse?
No, no, and no! Waste of time, waste of money, waste of effort, all while gaining nothing. If it's polished properly, with a good coating on it, you shouldn't be able to really "gain" anything in terms of looks by adding yet another product. And when you use something like Polishangel Cosmic Spritz, it's super easy, looks fantastic, and provides every thing you need.
If light scratches appear on the coated vehicle, what are the options for removal? Full polish to remove the scratches/coating and re-applying the coating all over the vehicle?
OMG! thank you sir and i need answers. I have a Hellcat and i got ceramic coating on my car and the premium packet to protect the front which is the film bra. I am so new to all this. Now, they did a good job and they send me a video. What i didn't know is that i wasn't supposed to wax and i did. know i have smudges. Please, i need to know if the wax will come off with in time and If i ruined it already? I learn everything through trial and error. I just hope i didn't ruin the car ceramic coating. By the way i use woolly mammoth microfiber towel. Is that a good towel? After the detail they did at the place they just sent me a video and i didn't really follow it because i thought i was supposed to wax it. OMG! i hope I didn't ruin the coating. Please get back to me when you can. I got the ceramic coating two weeks ago.
How about iron decontamination on a coated vehicle... on a coated vehicle, one of the big manufacturers recommends an iron out product every 3 months or so.. I understand the need but how badly does that hurt the longevity of the coating? Would you recommend it?
I've applied ISM to my paint and used Overcoat after a week or so. I think Overcoat is mostly an after-wash product, where a quick detailer can deal with, say, a little spot like a bird dropping. What's the best way to deal with little issues on a coated car if a full wash isn't needed or is impractical?
@@Esotericdetail Maintenance shampoo meaning something like GYEON Ceramic Detailer? Or do you mean literally shampoo as in GYEON Bathe+ mixed with distilled water?
I know you went over this in the video, but even a carnauba wax is not recommended over a coating as a "sacrificial layer" or to make the paint pop even more? (Like 15 minutes before I head out to a show/meet.) I'm probably overthinking this..
Love your videos very very simple to understand for a customer. What if someone wants the shiniest look after using the overcoat of the ceramic coating maintenance spray? Also is the ceramic sprays they sell the same as the ceramic maintenance spray?
The best looks come from the polishing / paint correction you do before coating. Once you apply Overcoat (or similar), you won't increase the looks by adding anything else to it.
@@Esotericdetail interesting. So if my car is ceramic coated and if i keep applying ceramic coating maintenance spray very time I wash my car for the next 10 years, can we basically say that my car will be ceramic coated for next 10 years? Also i wanted to ask you, my bonnets clear coat is badly faded but the paint is still there in good condition, will a ceramic coat act like clear coat to protect the paint or will my bonnet need clear coat first? (detailing must be done of course)
Very useful video. Presumably you'd still recommend a foam spray before washing a coated vehicle? If so, would you just use Bathe in the foam gun, or would you use something like Gyeon Snow Foam?
Foaming is always our preferred method, however most people do not have a pressure washer. I would simply use Bathe in the foam cannon, then Bathe again in your wash buckets.
I just coated my SUV last week with Kamikaze - Miyabi/ISM and topped it with Polish Angel - High Gloss. I let it sit in my garage for 3 days then I took it to the mountains and now it is dirty and assume some of that grime is salt from the roads. How soon can I shampoo the car after I applied the coating? 2 weeks? I was thinking of rinsing it off for now with just water but the water where I live is extremely hard and if I just rinse the grime off now without properly drying I'm afraid of major water spots. What do you recommend?
You should be fine since you have the High Gloss on it as well. Just wash it using a pH neutral soap, then maybe re-apply the High Gloss this time since it was just recently coated. Then you could cut that down to every 4th wash or so!
ESOTERIC - Fine Auto Finishing Thank you for your guidance through this whole process of applying my coating. I was able to save hundreds if not thousands of dollars doing it myself (with your help) from start to finish. Top notch products and customer service from the Esoteric team. I've highly recommended you guys to all my friends and family. Much appreciated!!!
my car is in the curing process. I understand to wipe off bird poo or bug splatter with hot water or a ceramic spray during the period. but what about bee poo (the small yellow orange dots). should I wipe that or leave until my first wash? is it worth the contact....
I’ve had ceramic finish on my car for 9 months and I’m seeing swirls. I’ve changed my microfiber towels I use ph balanced soap. Not sure why I’m seeing swirls when I’ve been super careful about the Maintance of the finish. What can I do to remove swirls?
Hi Esoteric gang...is it ok than after washing to use for my example..like i got Gyeon cancoat on my car, to use as a drying agent the Gyeon ceramic detailer? Or i got the Soft99 Fusso F7, than to use the Soft99 fukupika setailer for drying?
There's no need for a "drying aid", particularly when you have a coating on it. That term / process was valid back before coatings, high quality drying towels, and blowers.
great informational videos...must admit they are interesting...as an old school wash and wax guy though, all these coatings and applications seems a bit too much - granted everyone has their obsessions, but where does the coatings concept end...talking only coatings and the numerous brands and characteristics associated to each one it feels like an old fashioned shell game/3 card monte - with ppf out of the question for me (i'd miss the intimate connection between my hand and the car) :), i thought a good ceramic coating for ease of maintenance come wash time would be great....the more i watch the videos, the more i think back to no coatings at all, and simple weekly washes and a wax now and then
The only thing that is more involved is the coating process itself. After that, it's easy. So in your wax scenario, you're re-applying every now and then. You're doing the exact same thing with coating, except for using a wax, you're using a coating-maintenance product.
Depends on how much it is driven, washed, etc. On a daily driver that is washed once per week, I would reapply every third or fourth wash. If it's only washed once per month, I'd reapply every wash.
You could, as it's an Sio2-based product, similar to a coating maintenance product. But you'd only want to use something like this every great now and then, and not for every wash.
Hello - you’ve mentioned avoiding the quick detailers after coating. Interestingly, the local detailer after coating the car with CSU and Exo v4 recommended using their Quick Detailer over C2V3 (all of the same brand). Am I missing something?
Question. Do I maintain my coating or do I maintain my ppf? My car has both do I use things to maintain the coating or do I buy stuff to maintain the ppf or both?
Hey! Love You’re videos! Like how you explaine and how you share your knowledge. But I have a question for you. Can I take a round with Can Coat as a “booster” to get good water beeding back to my Syncro? After a good and wash and iron and tar Remover. :)
Thank you. We haven't used that combo, so I can't comment on how compatible it may or may not be. Perhaps you can try on just one smaller panel to start to see how it goes.
How do you feel about rinseless washes on a coated car? I used some strip wash to get rid of all the stuff I had tried on the car before I knew that you should only use products specifically for coated cars. This has been my routine since. Rinseless wash (Wolfgang Uber, recently American Detail Garage Wipeout) Followed up with XPC Tec582 Ceramic Detail Spray. (Applied after wash and dry) Once a month, 2 bucket wash with Gyeon Bathe + Followed by a coat of Gyeon Cure What do you think of my routine as it now? I have to confess, I like to experiment and try our new products and methods. Any suggestions?
Hi Todd, just had my car coated with Gyeon Q2 Duraflex. I'm about to wash it for the first time since it was coated and will be using Bathe+. Silly question I know, but should the water I use be cold ?
Appreciate your time Todd. So first wash If I jet wash, Snow foam and jet wash and then just wash with ordinary bathe would you then apply Gyeon Cure after drying ?
You're welcome. By jet wash I assume you just mean spray down with a pressure washer? You don't need to use a special foaming solution either...just add about 1 part Bathe to 5 parts water in your foam cannon, and soak it that way. Unless it's very dirty, you don't need to rinse off the foamed Bathe between doing that and your traditional 2-bucket method with Bathe. Assuming you're using a pressure washer, and that the car isn't exceptionally dirty, I'd rinse, foam with Bathe, then go right into your 2-bucket wash using Bathe. I hope this helps...
Todd, what can I use as a drying aid on my coated vehicle? I know the products you mentioned in the video are good options. I would like to use something every wash however to aid with lubrication when drying. It seems like a waste to use those products every time I dry the car as its intention is to be used every 2-3 months or so.
No need for a "drying aid". On my personal vehicle(s), I blow off as much water as I can, and just use the Gyeon Silk Dryer towel. Then afterwards I'll use something like PA Cosmic Spritz as necessary.
Hey Todd, I have Gyeon syncro on a black car... if I were to use Bathe+ for every wash could I still then use Cure every few months or would there be an incompatibility issue?
I would recommend using regular Bathe each wash, then the occasional Cure. There's no need to use Bathe+ on a freshly coated car, especially every single wash.
Hey Todd, I have a quick question. I currently have Polish angel glasscoat cosmic v2 on my car and was wondering if it was okay to use gyeon cure instead or cosmic sprits as a monthly maintenance due to the price difference?
Great video as always. When would you use an iron/tar remover or clay a car that has been coated as part of regular maintenance? (especially if car is outside 24x7). Tks!
Thank you. You can use Iron or Tar as necessary, but never clay (mechanical decontamination). If the coated vehicle is maintained regularly and properly, you shouldn't really have a need for mechanical decontamination.
Todd, you mentioned that you like to use a Kamikaze coating with a Polish Angel topper on your own cars. Can you tell us which combination you use (Miyabi vs ISM) and (Cosmic Spritz vs High Gloss)?
You don't need a "drying aid" for coated cars. And me personally, I would only use something that is designed specifically for maintaining coated vehicles.
Here's my dilemma. I coated my vehicle (Kamikaze Miyabi/ISM topped with PolishAngel High Gloss) and have it garaged most the time. I only bring it out on a nice day or if I absolutely have to on a rainy day then it goes right back in the garage. I am looking for a solution to clean the vehicle after these situations without having to do a traditional carwash since its mostly dust and rain water im concerned about. The rain water runs down the sideview mirrors and it drives me crazy to see it dry up as a water mark. I know you frown upon using ONR on a coated vehicle but do you have a remedy? I have a master blaster revolution and was thinking of blow drying it after taking it out in the rain but I'm worried I might blow dirt against the paint and create tiny scratches. What procedure or product do you recommend for this type of situation?
You might not like the answer, but the simple solution is to just wait until the next scheduled wash. Once the car has been drive, either on a clear day or a rainy day, the best solution is a wash. Granted, you could do other measures, but you do it knowing that you're sacrificing the possibility of slight marring / swirls in favor of a car that is constantly "clean".
ESOTERIC - Fine Auto Finishing Thank you. I guess I could also purchase the Kamikaze water spot remover in case those drip marks stick around after my scheduled maintenance wash. Take care.
Is there a wax that holds up to 12 months? Looking for it to put on my daily.. Doesnt have to be the best looking wax, just a long lasting and protective wax.
I know of no waxes or sealants that have anywhere close to that level of durability! You should watch our video on how to apply glass coating, as it's not all that difficult, and then it will save you time and money in the long run!
No. Not in the least bit. It's just a sealant (not a coating), and they're selling a warranty as opposed to a high quality product. There's a reason why these companies don't offer their products through the highline detailer network...
On a coated car, what would you recommend to use to take off bird droppings safely? My go to wold be to soak it with detail spray and lightly wipe off with a microfiber but as you said in the video it would leave the properties of the detail spray behind. Would taking it off with detail spray (for lubrication) and then coming back with water/IPA solution or Gyeon prep to remove the residue be the best way to attack this?
As I made a recommendation to another similar question, I'd keep a bottle mixed with distilled water, and just a few drops of your car shampoo (something like Gyeon Bathe). This way it has cleaning capabilities, but it doesn't leave anything behind!
Why not use a wax or sealant on top of the coating? Yes it's not as strong of a protective layer, but won't it at the very least add sacrificial layers on top of the coating? I just can't see why it's a bad thing; can it harm the coating?
If you want a sacrificial layer, why not use a product that is designed specifically for that?! The natural benefits of a good coating far outweighs any little "protection" that a quick detailer may provide. And since there are so many formulations of coating, quick detailers, sealants, etc., there's no way to know exactly which ones may actually harm the coating itself. And if you're talking about coatings that provide a warranty, they would be very specific about which products you can use with them because they cannot guarantee the effectiveness or durability of their product if mixed with "product x".
Thanks! I was playing a little devil's advocate, but totally understand what you're saying. I've just never really found anyone that could fully explain why that is, so wanted to know just for the sake of knowing. ;-)My installer stated the same thing about not using shampoo with waxes and not to wax/seal on top of it, so I only use the recommended "topper"
So once again the industry has confusing information. Both AMMONYC and Auto Geek talk about layering products for higher protection. In fact AMMONYC even had a video on it. What makes their products different? Or are they harming the properties?
There will always be differences of opinion for sure. In many cases, you can layer without any problems, so you also need to sort through what can, and what can't be layered safely and effectively. The problem is when people simply think they have access to 3 different protection products, that they can combine them all. The biggest mistake we see (as mentioned in the video), is when people want to combine a multitude of maintenance products that are designed to do the same basic thing. One thing that makes us different is that we will tell it like it is, as opposed to just telling people to blindly layer products so that we can sell more. And if a manufacturer says that you can safely combine product (a) with a layer of product (b), then topped with (c), then by all means...go for it.
Thank you for making this clear, I've been after an answer for months now. I'm on the edge of what protection I'm going to be using for my car this spring as it will be a 3 day correction, cleaning, and decon. Stilling leaning toward Gyeon or AMMO currently. As well as your answer to the question about wheel coating, thank you as well.
I have a question I hope someone can help me with. Can I Compound and Polish a car that has rock chips? im afraid to damage the car further. Any ideas?
Yes you can. You just need to make sure those rock chips don't have any "loose edges" of paint that could get in your pad. You could also apply a very small piece of tape over the rock chips prior to polishing.
@@Esotericdetail thx , the best way remane cure 1:1 maybe every 2 month. Another question after putting on skin how many times I need to wait for apply cure ,24h ?
FWIW, I've been using Overcoat as a drying aid; adds some protection, keeps the crazy water behavior (self cleaning) fresh but mostly because it makes drying soooo much easier. Might seem like overkill but single 250ml bottle lasted me all season (April thru November) w/ 3 cars. A little goes a *very* long way and I've yet to find another coating maint. spray that comes close to its abilities.
Thanks for the response. I feel I need a drying agent because I live in El Paso and as soon I finished with the car every second that passes the vehicle is gathering dust and both of my cars are black. I will look into the products you mentioned thanks again.
I'll let the experts speak to specifics of your scenario (if there are any negatives to your needs) as we're in far different climates but apparently have the same 'affliction' regarding black cars. Up here, for me, a products' abilities with respect to rain, water spotting and staying clean are of primary importance and these are areas where Overcoat truly excels, and it does seem to help keep the post-wash/dry dust gathering down as well.
Then what do we do with all my existing detailers and spray waxes? Think you fail to understand we are obsessed and need to apply everything every week! Lol
Well, we don't use or support their products, so you'd probably want to reach out to them for advice on it. If your car is coated, you probably don't need to be using hydr02 (assuming it's a "coating wash" or similar).
i lost you when you said stay away from sonax BSD, the best booster by far for coatings.. easy to apply, nice gloss and stupid good hidrophobic properties.. goes well with or without a coating.
That's a good product for sure, but it was never chemically engineered to be a maintenance product for coatings. How it repels water has nothing to do with whether or not it is the right choice for the coating.
Correct, but as stated...you're losing the features and benefits of the coating, and gaining whatever characteristics offered by the cheaper product. The moral of the story here is simple: use the right products for the job!
This has got to be one of dumbest pitches I have heard. My guy says, You have a "coated car" dont waste your time by putting a quick spray wax on it (after maintenance wash), stick to the more expensive stuff? Why waste time putting less expensive stuff, when you already have the coating that gives you gloss etc"....? What? By that logic you shouldn't be putting "anything" on the car at all, yet he is telling you go ahead and do use "stuff" on it I.E the expensive stuff. Yet in the same breath says its not necessary? What's the logic here. Now if he had said something along the lines off "dont use a quick detailer/spray wax" on a coated car because it has been proven to degrade the coating, then yes that would make sense. But since this isn't the case, why push this as a "do not put spray wax on your vehicles cause its cheap"? This clearly sounds like an upsell on stuff. As with anything else you buy out there, I'm going to bet that the markup/profit on the more expensive maintenance items is a lot more then on the cheaper stuff. Which would mean its in his best interest to push that. Now I dont care if someone upsells, but what I do care about is when someone makes up stuff about a lesser expensive items just to get you to spend more.

I think he’s trolling lol
Can you talk a bit about the process for preparing a coated car for re-coating (after a few years)? Does the old coating need to be stripped somehow?
Check out this video here: th-cam.com/video/Sm5tQi543_Q/w-d-xo.html
Great video. Very informative👍
For me, with Cure, I prefer to dry it, then go back afterwards with a soft MF towel and lightly apply the Cure. Thank you!
Thank you! Will do the same :)
Video quality is great! Nice work guys
Thank you!
Hi, just wanted to know which pressure washer would be better Karcher K4 or K2?
If light scratches appear on the coated vehicle, what are the options for removal? Full polish to remove the scratches/coating and re-applying the coating all over the vehicle?
Correct. You would need to re-polish, and re-coat.
OMG! thank you sir and i need answers.
It will wear off in time...perhaps after a few washes. As for the towel you refer to, I've never heard of that one so I can't comment.
How about iron decontamination on a coated vehicle... on a coated vehicle, one of the big manufacturers recommends an iron out product every 3 months or so.. I understand the need but how badly does that hurt the longevity of the coating? Would you recommend it?
Only use it when / if necessary. Even if driving in the winter, I might do this process once per year on my own cars...
You could keep a bottle of distilled water that has just a drop or two of your maintenance shampoo in it...that would work great.
@@Esotericdetail Maintenance shampoo meaning something like GYEON Ceramic Detailer? Or do you mean literally shampoo as in GYEON Bathe+ mixed with distilled water?
@@benslepp455 Just regular Bathe...
I know you went over this in the video, but even a carnauba wax is not recommended over a coating as a "sacrificial layer" or to make the paint pop even more? (Like 15 minutes before I head out to a show/meet.) I'm probably overthinking this..
Correct.
I heard you can wax s coated vehicle for more depth
nice explanations.after a couple of washes can paste wax be used on ceramic coated paint
Here's another video on that very topic: th-cam.com/video/D1WgU6tp3Zc/w-d-xo.html
@@Esotericdetail thank you for the response.
is it advisable to spray the coating on the paint directly or spray on the tower as shown in the video
Spraying into your towel is the recommended process.
I would simply use Bathe in the foam cannon, then Bathe again in your wash buckets.
another good video, Todd Im curious to know why you prefer the Kamikaze coatings as you mention here. Coating my car soon and weighing up options
Thank you! I really appreciate their ease of use!!
As long as you're not using harsh wash detergents, you should be fine to do a regular wash if needed.
Thanks for the info!!
I’ve had ceramic finish on my car for 9 months and I’m seeing swirls. I’ve changed my microfiber towels I use ph balanced soap. Not sure why I’m seeing swirls when I’ve been super careful about the Maintance of the finish.
What can I do to remove swirls?
Is Gyeon wet coat good to use on top of a ceramic coating ? Or rather stick with Gyeon Cure?
I saw in one video where the guy used Meguiars Gold wash is that good? For drying I'm using a leaf blower
Great video, is Gyeon ceramic detailer ok to use on my Gyeon mohs coated car every now and again? I use cure once every 8 weeks?
Yes. Use one or the other...not both though.
@@Esotericdetail thank you
I saw gyeon came out with a quick detailer, would that be okay to use on a ceramic coated car in between washes?
great informational videos...must admit they are interesting...as an old school wash and wax guy though, all these coatings and applications seems a bit too much - granted everyone has their obsessions, but where does the coatings concept end...talking only coatings and the numerous brands and characteristics associated to each one it feels like an old fashioned shell game/3 card monte - with ppf out of the question for me (i'd miss the intimate connection between my hand and the car) :), i thought a good ceramic coating for ease of maintenance come wash time would be great....the more i watch the videos, the more i think back to no coatings at all, and simple weekly washes and a wax now and then
The only thing that is more involved is the coating process itself. After that, it's easy. So in your wax scenario, you're re-applying every now and then. You're doing the exact same thing with coating, except for using a wax, you're using a coating-maintenance product.
How often would you reapply a ceramic booster such as Gyeon Cure on a coated car?
Depends on how much it is driven, washed, etc. On a daily driver that is washed once per week, I would reapply every third or fourth wash. If it's only washed once per month, I'd reapply every wash.
what about using a Bathe+ on coated car? Isn't that save either? Doesn't Bathe+ just enhance the coating?
You could, as it's an Sio2-based product, similar to a coating maintenance product. But you'd only want to use something like this every great now and then, and not for every wash.
Can you recommend a good topper for cermic coated vehicles after a car wash. Please provide a link as well thanks
Coating maintenance product video here: th-cam.com/video/zn7Csyj-2iA/w-d-xo.html
Hello - you’ve mentioned avoiding the quick detailers after coating. Interestingly, the local detailer after coating the car with CSU and Exo v4 recommended using their Quick Detailer over C2V3 (all of the same brand). Am I missing something?
Some people only know as much as the manufacturer is telling them...and the manufacturer wants to sell more products!
Question. Do I maintain my coating or do I maintain my ppf? My car has both do I use things to maintain the coating or do I buy stuff to maintain the ppf or both?
Use the same product for both applications. Your coating-maintenance product will also do a great job of taking care of your PPF.
ESOTERIC okey, thank you! I guess I will try it out :)
How do you feel about rinseless washes on a coated car? I used some strip wash to get rid of all the stuff I had tried on the car before I knew that you should only use products specifically for coated cars. This has been my routine since.
Rinseless wash (Wolfgang Uber, recently American Detail Garage Wipeout)
Followed up with XPC Tec582 Ceramic Detail Spray. (Applied after wash and dry)
Once a month, 2 bucket wash with Gyeon Bathe +
Followed by a coat of Gyeon Cure
What do you think of my routine as it now?
I have to confess, I like to experiment and try our new products and methods. Any suggestions?
Sounds good
Good stuff!
Hi Todd, just had my car coated with Gyeon Q2 Duraflex. I'm about to wash it for the first time since it was coated and will be using Bathe+. Silly question I know, but should the water I use be cold ?
Water temps don't matter. Is there a reason why you went with the + version instead of regular Bathe?
I 've bought both. The bathe+ was recommended for the first wash and after drying use Gyeon Cure
Got it...although I personally wouldn't recommend it that way. I would save the + for the every-now-and-then-wash, but Bathe for 90% of the time.
B8Addict car wash with DRY ONLY option...
Sonax offers a gloss shampoo. I’m assuming to the one in the video leaves nothing behind?
Correct
Hey Todd, I have Gyeon syncro on a black car... if I were to use Bathe+ for every wash could I still then use Cure every few months or would there be an incompatibility issue?
I would recommend using regular Bathe each wash, then the occasional Cure. There's no need to use Bathe+ on a freshly coated car, especially every single wash.
Hey Todd, I have a quick question. I currently have Polish angel glasscoat cosmic v2 on my car and was wondering if it was okay to use gyeon cure instead or cosmic sprits as a monthly maintenance due to the price difference?
You could definitely do that...
With the products used to maintain the ceramic coating how would one strip the product without stripping the ceramic coat
Use something like Gyeon Prep and you should be good to go.
ESOTERIC - Fine Auto Finishing will using clay or Autoscrub damage the coating?
@@pcarfan1676 possible

Hi. What kind of product should I use to remove water spot from my car which is coated with ceramic? Thank you.
Kamikaze Water Spot Remover! www.esotericcarcare.com/kamikaze-water-spot-remover/
Does this all apply if you only used a ceramic spray coating, like Adams spray coating, not a full blown ceramic coating?
You still want to use like-products.
Todd, you mentioned that you like to use a Kamikaze coating with a Polish Angel topper on your own cars. Can you tell us which combination you use (Miyabi vs ISM) and (Cosmic Spritz vs High Gloss)?
I typically use Miyabi as a base, with ISM on top. Then I use Cosmic Spritz as a maintenance product for the coatings.
@@Esotericdetail and what is your choice for the wash soap on your own coated cars? Thanks in advance
@@hinkle.nicholas Gyeon Bathe...
Can I use ONR diluted to detailer as a drying aid and finisher?
Take care.
I often go to a car wash that has the option DRY ONLY after a high pressure wash. Then I apply my SPRITZ PA right afterwards on the spot...
Hi Todd, how soon after i put ISM 1.0 coat on, can i put the Maintenance Overcoat on?
You can do it within a few hours, but I like to wait overnight.
I have cilajet on my car that the stealer i mean Dealer put on. Is that a good paint protector?
This way it has cleaning capabilities, but it doesn't leave anything behind!
how often to use overcoat or COSMIC SPRITZ after ceramic coated car ?
However often you want, really. You could do it every wash, or you could wait a couple of months between applications.
Well you came to the right place for proper explanations! :)
Can you use bathe+ vs cure or both to help maintain the coat?
Use one or the other...
His explanation of not using quick detailers etc. on top of the ceramic coating does not make sense.
Please explain what it is you're confused about so we can clarify it for you.
Do these quick detailer products harm the ceramic coating? If not why would it be negative to use it in addition?
Of course it makes sense.
I have a question I hope someone can help me with. Can I Compound and Polish a car that has rock chips? im afraid to damage the car further. Any ideas?
Yes you can. You just need to make sure those rock chips don't have any "loose edges" of paint that could get in your pad. You could also apply a very small piece of tape over the rock chips prior to polishing.
thanks for the tip!
What about adding infinity wax overtop of ISM and Mayabi coat?
You could, but I don't know that you'd really be gaining anything.
Gyeon quick detailer for maintenance of syncro , is good ?
Gyeon says yes, we say no...
@@Esotericdetail thx , the best way remane cure 1:1 maybe every 2 month. Another question after putting on skin how many times I need to wait for apply cure ,24h ?
What about a ceramic spray coating ? From the same company as the coating ?
That would be the coating maintenance products that I am referring to here that are fine to use.
@@Esotericdetail thank you. Just double checking. I appreciate you're videos
What would I use as a drying agent if I can't use detailer spray?
You don't need a "drying agent". If you feel you must use something, then you can use your coating maintenance spray during that stage.
Lol
Then simply use your ceramic coating maintenance spray every week, and throw away the rest of your stuff.
Is the Cosmic Spritz a glass bottle?
No it is not.
If I'm using carpro hydrO2 on my car, are you still recommending that I don't use a spray detailer after washing?
Well, we don't use or support their products, so you'd probably want to reach out to them for advice on it. If your car is coated, you probably don't need to be using hydr02 (assuming it's a "coating wash" or similar).
Have you tested Jescar Bead It yet?
Have not...
Why do you show images of very expensive cars only in your videos?
Because that's mostly what we work on.
i lost you when you said stay away from sonax BSD, the best booster by far for coatings.. easy to apply, nice gloss and stupid good hidrophobic properties.. goes well with or without a coating.
That's a good product for sure, but it was never chemically engineered to be a maintenance product for coatings. How it repels water has nothing to do with whether or not it is the right choice for the coating.
actually it is recommended by sonax to maintan their CC36, 1K nano and PnS
While yes that cheaper product is on the car, the expensive products is still there. Not like the qd is going to magically make your coat vanish 😂🤷♂️
Correct, but as stated...you're losing the features and benefits of the coating, and gaining whatever characteristics offered by the cheaper product. The moral of the story here is simple: use the right products for the job!
ESOTERIC - Fine Auto Finishing. Oh I agree still.
Once the qd wears off then you'd have your superior coating benefits right
Do you recommend coatings for a show car? Or should I just stick to wax?
We prefer coatings as it just makes the car show season much easier, and less time consuming.
Todd, how about cosmic spritz on top of Menzerna Power Lock as a drying aid/sacrificial layer? Thanks
You can use that, but Power Lock is a sealant and not a coating.
What about removing any traffic film that has been embedded in the clear coat.
You would do that prior to coating the vehicle...
