I found a way to enjoy GW2's story a lot. I recently leveled up another character (no glider, no mounts, no non-vanilla weapons) and I realized that as long as I don't treat game's presentation as it is but instead think of it a bit more symbolic (of a much larger scale) I really enjoyed a lot of it. Obvious examples would be size of areas (I think only GW1's Kaineng City comes close to showcasing an adequate scale of a large city) and descriptions of time it takes to travel between POIs. I just looked at the screen, multiplied what I saw by 10x or so and let my imagination epicify what I saw (it really helps that I watched a lot of epic-scale movies and played large-scale games like Total War series since it helped a lot to visualize those larger scale of events). But of course, taken as it is, the presentation of basically everything in GW2 (even LW4) is not that good compared to story that devs and writers try to tell.
I was so confused by the initial hype for fighting Zaitan, thinking “Was that quest cool and fun? I remember it as slow and boring. Maybe I did it wrong.” Oh good, at least my memory is working properly 😂

15:50 I honestly think it would be easier for the devs at this point to roll every path of every dungeon INTO fractals and axe the normal versions completely. The open world doors to them just opening the LFG instead.
@37:30 pretty much sums up my annoyance with eir dying in heart of thorns. Killing off fan favourite characters might have good short term impact but long term you basically just got rid of one of the few people most players like which is basically shooting yourself in the foot as a story teller. Unless a character death of a key character has significant long lasting impact to the protagonist and the world, enough to justify lossing a major selling point of your story, maybe dont do it.
Funnily enough, even in hindsight if they killed of Braham instead and had Eir go through the "Angry at dragons but I have a dog" arc; That might've had a very different community reaction
My problem is not as much that they killed off Eir, but that they didn't kill Braham instead. Not only does Eir dying feel very predictable even without hindsight (I played the entire core story thinking "ok, when is she going to die?") due to her constantly saying how "her time is gone" and "it's time for a new hero to arise" from the very beginning of the game, but it would also be much more interesting to have her try to sacrifice herself for the team, have her own son die instead, and then SHE goes fully on a rampage as the nightmare she probably was at her prime. 'Cause much of the impact character deaths can have are on how they affect other characters. Sure, Eir dying has an impact on me, but that will always be temporary. The character who actually reacts to her death the most is Braham, who to that point I never cared about (and honestly never will), while if Braham died and Eir had to mourn him THAT would hurt me more because I actually care how Eir feels (mommy don't cry). That plus Braham has an extremely punchable face, he was VERY killable, he looks like a background character, I'd call him a pug but pugs are actually adorable.
I actually prefer the core story gated by 10 levels. It's forces you to level and goes nicely with the story where the main character comes a long from no-name to leading a large group. It also forces you to explore the world outside of just the story. It also leaves you the option to level at once and then do the story.
Even though Roze makes me wince sometimes, there's always at least one or two jokes ( usually more ) that land. That's an understatement. The destination ( the good jokes ) is worth the turbulent journey
I was chuckling whenever he was hyping up the Zhaitan and i was waiting for his reaction in the end... worth the wait i'd say xD In all seriousness tho adding a Strike version of Zhaitan would be one of the best things ever added to the game.
I've wanted to to have an instance in Orr in timeline where it is recovering from the undead post Zaitan's death. It could be part of the buildup of any expansion
8:52 Because old English people call us "the frogs", while old French people call them "les rosbifs" (deformation of "roast beef", don't ask me why, nobody knows, but if you really want to know why: it comes from an old caricature of the XVIIIrd century about English culinary tradition - which makes us come full circle to "frogs" that referes to the fact that some weird people in my country consider that eating frog legs is a good idea).
I have to mention this every time. If I never bought HoT before getting to the Zhaitan fight, I would have quit right there. All the fun I had in core game made me want to buy at least the expansion to unlock features and more character slots right away. Zhaitan undid that, but I was already financially invested.
If you have a Springer and Skyscale do this for the ultimate Superman glitch > Cannonball > Dismount to dismount while you keep the cannonball effect > Remount on Skyscale as your character's feet touch the ground You should be mounted on your sky scale with all of your weapon and utility skills available, this is how you know you are in the glitch. From there you can tap tap tap spacebar to bump your character exponentially faster vertically as well as horizontally if you use the right click in conjunction with spacebar taps to angle the camera facing the ground while tapping spacebar. Using right click while tapping spacebar allows you to finesse and fly really fast around any PVE map.
You can also remount in other mounts within this glitch. You can literally fly your raptor in the sky, jackal, springer, turtle, all of them except sky scale work since the sky scale is what you use to get into the glitch. Finally what you can do after remounting within the glitch you can undo the glitch entirely with the dismount hotkey. It's a super smooth way to use the glitch to fly around any PVE map for fun and also to be perma-banned, so don't go telling people in map chat about it!
I've done Zhaitan's fight a few times on a few of my Toons and honestly I don't think it was bad, but it wasn't as good as the battles leading up to it, it was very fast and climatic and to be fair by that point when I started, I just wanted to be Level 80 to move forward to Heart of Thorns which came out around when I started playing, but I completely see Roze's angle on it because it's a very climatic fight that sacrifices the challenge that you expected, like if the end to Mass Effect to completely skipped everything prior to talking to the Illusive Man.
what part are you gonna start playing from "the beginning" ? wvw? raids? fractals? strikes? dungeons? all of these have prerequisites even dungeons require minimum level and to do story mode first...
This video series has made me ask if @RozeMMO was put on this earth to torment @MuklukTH-cam for the crime of insulting Norns one too many times? That aside, wonderful conclusion to the series, now when does Roze react to this reaction?
I feel like it makes sense to take out the threat closest to the main hub of the game (Lion's Arch) with everything centered around it then go from one to the other (Mordremov => Kralkatorik => Jormag AND Primordus => and finally Su Won and the Void) because Zhaitan basically forced you to go on this journey in the first place. Had he not endangered Tyria we as the commander would probably never have gotten to the point of fighting gods and demons alike all these years later. + It probably wouldn't make that much sense to leave the Elder dragon situated closesr to the core trade city of Tyria for the last while running around the world ending all the others.
1. I mean if u play MMO to get to endgame, then the only lvling experience u'll like is probably a boost. The one gripe in pacing that I have is that it was a while between later MSQ steps especialy if u take breaks, so maybe it would have been better if ANet did part of story ealry and last bit near the end of leveling, but now with boosted leveling not sure it matters. 2. Tybalt's death felt semi significant to me, I liked the character, though there is a reocuring issue of very small amount of troops fighting in battle looking kinda silly. 3. The everything sexualized thing idk guess it's a thirsty Roze thing ':D 4. Can agree main story was so so (tbh nolonge remember specifics), and yes Zaitan fight oof :/ 5. I'm one of those ppl who liked the conversation cutscenes, the new in world conversations look a bit worse, but would be imersive if not the crosstalking NPC, but I think they improved on that in Janthir if am not mistaken. 6. The mob model reuse is probably to save on resources and to make more interesting fights and content I think it's okay, up to a point. 7. Different to some streamers I think most older world bosses are a boring zergfest (yes I know tirple trouble and the like are very (good) different), okay a few times but I'd rather clean the house than repeat them on the regular.
At 55:24 i agree with roza on the core game being an extended tutorial. Especially with the power creep. Very few things are deemed as a challenge unless your intentionally trying to challenge yourself. Heck most players wont even know what an elite spec is if they only play the core game.
Although I agree that what you did while leveling is progress towards legendary items and other big projects, but for a new player (as I was 3 years ago) it doesn't matter (because you most likely don't know about them). It's also not that true that GW2 has the least amount of activities locked behind level 80, because of the shear amount of different activities that are in the game (and a lot of them are locked behind level 80, at least the ones with interesting rewards and that people are playing)
Its kinda funny how he complaints about mob diversity... as if basically every mod and raidboss in WoW didnt uses the same models and/or animations over and over again just reskinned from previous released mobs or raidsbosses. WoW is the king of recycling when it comes to boss-encounters... every new big raid that releases, there are like 10-15 bosses but only 2-5 of them are acutally original designs that arent reskins of previous models and/or abilites
Who could forget Tybalt? Tybalt was the only backpack I ever bought and the charr chad I liked the most apart from HoT/PoF Rytlock. There are some characters still breathing that are less memorable or endearing as Tybalt. The one thing I dislike about him is that he and any other member from the other branches of the orders were scripted to die *for no reason*. The doors were closing, we were leagues ahead of the swarms, why was there a need to kill any of the critical NPCs you bond with? Claw Island was a thrilling fight but cheapened the experience in that manner. If you had been forced to the ground and your "Tybalt" or whomever you came to battle with jumped in to draw attention away so you could recover, but died as you were getting to your feet, THAT would have been memorable. The gate scene was cheap, ruined the trope.
and to this day i miss hte old dialog - because it had a skip button Because after the 50th time playing HoT i dont care about the only dialog instances anymore and now i cant skip them so i have to afk.
TBH with the new "Adventure Guide" the every 10 levels is actually a non-issue... I was sad that I was trying to help a friend play GW2 from vanilla and besides the first Map we didn't need to finish any other map ever, we were always over leveled because you got stuff like 5+ level randomly from depositing materials on the storage or opening the bank. It was really stupid...
oh lord, B-team do what the Urukai did to the wall of Helmsdeep, run in and boom end evil dragon. And don't get any mention at all after. Real heroes unsung for legends, be even sadder if it's a group of norns screaming for there 'legends' and we never know :DDDD.
Anet could have divorced the BL Keys from the story rewards. They could have just put a key in the character mail when it reached level 10 and whatever other levels you get a key. Of course that might depopulate the beginning level areas for at least Humans (don't know if any of the other races get much key run love).
they dont need to they already fixed it awhile ago. you can only get the level 10 key once a week and it resets every monday. end game players will just use 10 tomes on a new toon and get the key then delete it(the toon) and some will get every BL key in the story then delete the toon and wait till monday. its really what ever you want. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@MJxD5 As my first sentence indicates, I was talking about not tying the BLK to the story. I made this comment in response to Roze's statements about the starting story.
I fought Zaitan back in 202...2? I don't remember. But I do know he's a scrub. Also, you had the good graces to watch this entire thing and he didn't even comment on the video!? No I won't look to see if he actually did. The nerve of that guy!!
Sorry Muk, hate to be that guy, but um actually, Deathwing was the Aspect of Earth, not Death, know originally as Neltharion the Earth-Warder XD (I have spent way to many years ivesteded in the lore, since Orcs vs Humans)
@MuklukTH-cam I can understand that completely. Hilariously enough I quit just before that fight released, and boy did I feel justified after seeing it XD I'm just a major history buff, and tend to get just a wee bit sucked into game lore
I actually preferred leveling in WoW significantly more than in GW2. I'd probably chalk it up to how good the dungeon finder is. As a new player, I remember having the time of my life dungeoning, waiting for the new dungeon to open up as I grew in levels, checking out all the gear that was dropping, and fighting through hordes of mobs and bosses with everyone having their own roles. The questing system in WoW is also more satisfying somehow because it is linear and you felt like the story progressed to a point, rather than just being random unrelated chores with little to no connection to one another. Sure, you never read the text, but you had a general idea of what was going on and you'd follow characters sometimes across entire zones. Where GW2 greatly outperforms WoW is in the open world content, but events spawn randomly and after you finish a chain, you're straight back to aimlessly wandering looking for something to do. The sense of wonder and the pleasure of exploring can only go so far when leveling multiple alts. It also has to be stated how much better WoW's leveling experience has gotten with the introduction of Chromie Time and how most zones scale to the player. You can now pick and choose which expansion you wish to play, and the variety in locations, mobs and themes is 100% superior to the different leveling zones in Central Tyria. I agree with Roze on almost all of his points.
the best story of GW2 is everything else besides the main story. the interesting hearts story, side quest, achievements, legendary flavor texts and map events paint a very dynamic, lively, and mystical world, everything the main story pretend to be and fail miserably. i can't be bother to pay attention to the story anymore half way through end of dragons. I really really tried. They should go the Warframe route with a few main story scenarios that loosely connected together than a long and epic story. They just couldn't do it.
Personally I don't think adding a Strike or Scrying pool would help at all, because you need to fix that fight for someone playing for the first time, not someone who is 5+ years into the game.
I hard disagree with your point on GW2's end game commentary. Yes, you are doing map completion, but without hard carries or any of the sort of END GAME CONTENT, your map completion doesn't do anything but get you closer to... end game. You are encouraged NOT to get your mastery points from the original zones... because they are inefficient. "Get them in Heart of Thorns." GW2 may not entirely gatekeep the entire experience to the End Game, but it is still just as End Game focused, and "well the game becomes better at end game." And to even drive home the point... the only good stories are end game content. You can't level using HoT or PoF....
Tybalt. The casual's choice. Whenever someone starts derping about fkin Tybalt, the rest of us who chose _another Order and therefore mentor_ know EXACTLY what type of person we're dealing with. True story.
None of my friends like Gw2. I am the only one. They hate the graphics and combat mostly and say the gear is ugly looking. The title is funny but obviously not correct.
I actually agree. I tried to do that in FF14, but the story is barely worth the sub, and the rest of the content doesn't have enough depth of progression to justify the price either. Just read a good book. They all do "story" better than games do, especially MMO stories.
@@LexiconPrime7 I think it would be fair to say that anyone who reads recreationally would agree. MMOs are great for creating environments to make your own story (if you're inclined to do so), but the people making the "stories" for them are seldom _writers_ as a primary interest or profession...

I hope he continues through Heart of Thorns. The story, especially from a sylvari perspective, really pays off.
I wonder what he'll think of Kralk at the end of season 4, or Soowon. If he ever has the patience to play that far...
The thing between RozeMMO and Mukluk is just the best!
what part are you gonna start playing from "the beginning" ? wvw? raids? fractals? strikes? dungeons? all of these have prerequisites even dungeons require minimum level and to do story mode first...
This video series has made me ask if @RozeMMO was put on this earth to torment @MuklukTH-cam for the crime of insulting Norns one too many times?
That aside, wonderful conclusion to the series, now when does Roze react to this reaction?
Asuran Orphanage... Man, i swear, i really enjoy Roze content but i'd never shake his hand xD
First time seeing that guy and his editing style is completely in line with SsethTzeentach's editing style. Heck the narration as well.
Lukewarm take: Zhaitan should have been the final Elder Dragon.
3. The everything sexualized thing idk guess it's a thirsty Roze thing ':D
4. Can agree main story was so so (tbh nolonge remember specifics), and yes Zaitan fight oof :/
You and Roze should definitely do a podcast together. Pleaaaaaase! :D
Sierran was the best Mentor character. In my opinion. Wich is the only correct opinion to have.
This is correct.
Frogs is a traditional name for French people, same way Limey is for Brits and Krauts is for ze Germans.
I'm learning so much today.
@@MuklukTH-cam 49:47 wanna learn some more? Angela Merkel was chancellor of Germany for 16yrs between 2005 and 2021. yw. 😊
Poor Noxxi we love you😅
This one? THIS ONE?! By Grenth, this vid cracked me up. Comedy gold. Did tell him it "gets better" and "Say hi to Scarlet from me!" I CAN fix her!
roflmfaooooooooooooooooo this is epic LOL i am dying here!!!! and your facial expressions are awesome!!!
He's right you know .. u can't trust Asura unless it's a Jumping Puzzle then they're your friend 😂
and to this day i miss hte old dialog - because it had a skip button
Because after the 50th time playing HoT i dont care about the only dialog instances anymore and now i cant skip them so i have to afk.
It was really stupid...
ok now i want to know what that destiny leak is
oh lord, B-team do what the Urukai did to the wall of Helmsdeep, run in and boom end evil dragon.
We ALL remember Tybalt!!!
Totally welcome the correction, I've been away from Azeroth for a few years XD
@MuklukTH-cam I can understand that completely. Hilariously enough I quit just before that fight released, and boy did I feel justified after seeing it XD I'm just a major history buff, and tend to get just a wee bit sucked into game lore
I swear, Anet could just put his song instead of the OG fight there
I actually preferred leveling in WoW significantly more than in GW2.
''Serbania'' - Mukluk 2025
Personally I don't think adding a Strike or Scrying pool would help at all, because you need to fix that fight for someone playing for the first time, not someone who is 5+ years into the game.
Right, they would need a prompt of some kind during the mission to point them to that for "the finale" if they went that route.
Is Zaitan still not fixed wtf 2025 still busted??? We need Dwarves added as a race now after Soto.
Muk asking why are frogs French. xD
Yes ✨
Erm sorry, did I hear Muk call “Serbia”… “Serbania” 😅 are all Americans allergic to geography or something? 😂
Next you'll tell me Canadians aren't from Canadia or something?
@ I guess Serbia is just Serbania now..
I saw the original when he uploaded it, was funny then, funny now, some reacts are good, like yours.
Thank you for making this video, fellow human. I, too, like Gen 3 bacon (I'm sorry Mrs. Luk).
Tooo sooon. Tybal … sniff. Loved him most out of the 3 mentors.
I have had my fill of buggy, unbalanced PoE 2. Back to GW2...!
Noxi is amazing
I hope he plays HoT
Great video. I like his comedy.
"Get them in Heart of Thorns." GW2 may not entirely gatekeep the entire experience to the End Game, but it is still just as End Game focused, and "well the game becomes better at end game."
And to even drive home the point... the only good stories are end game content. You can't level using HoT or PoF....
SERBANIA
Tybalt. The casual's choice. Whenever someone starts derping about fkin Tybalt, the rest of us who chose _another Order and therefore mentor_ know EXACTLY what type of person we're dealing with. True story.
I don't.
None of my friends like Gw2. I am the only one. They hate the graphics and combat mostly and say the gear is ugly looking. The title is funny but obviously not correct.
I dont get his humor at all. Are wow players this edgy?
In all fairness, if you're playing MMOs for the "story", you need to find a new hobby.
