    Thanks for this! You saved me having to look up schematics/replace a module. No cracked solder visible to the baked eye but I reflowed the areas you suggested and now we have a working module! Finally my healdights work and all the screens on the dash and radio are visible!

      Ah! It was too good to be true. I started it up this morning and we're back to inoperable again. Quickly popped it out, disconnected and reconnected and we're back. Left it ten minutes, started up again and it's inoperable again.
      Not entirely sure if it's the connector on the rear (although I wiggled it when operable and it remained fine) or something that is failing when connected for long enough. Really bizarre behaviour.

    Thanks for posting this! I didn't end up reflowing solder on my mum's XC70 since I don't have a very good iron with me right now, but I cleaned up some iffy streaks that looked like tiny solder bridges, and it seems to have solved the problem! High beams would only flash, and now stay engaged just fine.

    Damn what a top class video of repairing, I fixed the high beam and interiorlight by myself thanks. Accidentally solder away front fog lights xD but i don't need that.

    Do you have any idea why my 2003 volvo s40 has there following fault: One of the headlight dipped beams doesn't work. I have checked them fuses and the bulb is new. Any ideas? Then left one works but the right one doesnt

    Hi. I was having the same issues with my lights that you listed in the description. I know that this module needs repair or replacement but I'm curious if it might be the cause of another issue I'm having. Do you know if this module could cause your headlights to not work? When I turn on my car, there's about a 25% chance that my headlights will turn on. Otherwise the car only has the running lights on. I have a 2001 Volvo V70 and I can't afford a new car so if you know, I would really appreciate your help!
    Definitely subscribing after

    I have a 2002 S60 and for some reason my short beams and fog lights wont turn on. All of the fuses are good. Could this be the issue?

    Hi, I have a S602003 with no fog lights or front fog light switch. I see the wiring and connectors are available at the location. I have read that it is not straight forward and may need a software update to get it going. Is it true? I have got fog lamp assembly ready to be fitted.

    • @HeapsofProjects
      @HeapsofProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I believe you will need a software update to activate it.

    What excatcly are you soldering? Is there any explanations on what components you are soldering? :)

      They are mostly smd resistors/transistors/diodes but can't tell for sure - have not done one in a while

    Might it be the same with the 2000 C70s? I have one here that only one headlight comes on, and I have no power to the headlight wires I that side.

    • @HeapsofProjects
      @HeapsofProjects  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not seen any older ones with this problem. Your car has separate fuses for both side high and low beams so I would check fuse 19-22 first and see if they get any power.

    Is this the fix for when you turn the lights on and there's no headlights (Just day running) no centre console lights and no fuel comp lights.

      I am living in Australia at the moment so I'm not sure if it would make any sense to send me that for repairs. If you think you can pay for the postage then I don't mind doing it.

    Hi!
    On my S60 the whole LSM is working except the 3 light bulbs. They are not burned out or anything like that. I beeped out the connector pins with the sockets with multimeter but only GND is ok. The "+" losts somewhere in the circuit. The capacitors looks healthy as well. Any idea where should I continue the troubleshooting?

  • @MS-yy2dh
    @MS-yy2dh ปีที่แล้ว

    While I certainly appreciate you taking the time to post this, you don't show how you worked out which solder joints to repair. Were there obvious cracks for example? I am in two minds as to whether I should attempt this myself.

    • @HeapsofProjects
      @HeapsofProjects  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SMD solder faults can be hard to detect and these are just the common problem areas I have worked out. Same for my BCM, CCM and DIM repairs.
