      Hi Bill. The company was recently sold to Warcradle Studios so you could maybe contact them to see if they plan on continuing to produce it.

    Hi folks, thanks very much to all of you who have purchased this terrain from us since Andy made this video. We have decided to temporarily close the website to new orders until we re-open on January 2nd. We were originally planning to extend the discount code through to the end of January but this is now not going to be possible Im afraid. Apologies to anyone who missed out on this promotion

      Use spraycans in a colour and a airbrush to shade and pop up some things and you get it done to a table top lvl really fast!!!
      This mdf stuff is super cool!
      I got mu self some from a other company but what they can do these days with a lazercutingmachine is just awesome!

    Looks very nice. As with many of these products I would love some 1 and 2mm "detail" sheets to give a bit nore depth to some of the pieces.
    I think I would be tempted to build a few permanant core buildings with some extra details (pipes, plants, etc) and then join them together with some of the standard pieces. But then I just like big detailed terrain :D

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the idea of detail bits - might suggest that to Red Beam!

    • @SilverMKI
      @SilverMKI 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BlackJack Legacy I've suggested it to a few companies in the past without too much interest from them :D
      However I personally feel a few overlay bits for walkways, control pannels, scrollwork for walls or signs etc would really help make some of the laser cut terrain pop. You could probably even do some of it lasering card rather than wood to save cost and weight (plus speeding up lasering time!).

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely. There has to be a market for it surely??

  • @OldAverageBritGaming
    @OldAverageBritGaming 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Good info video as always. The only MDF stuff I have bought before are paint racks. My question is about painting this stuff as out of the packet, all MDF terrain just looks like dirty cardboard to me. There is printed detail on it from what I can see, but how does this stuff paint up in your opinion?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      cheers buddy. I'm not 100% sure yet to be honest as I've never painted it. I've seen it on other channels and I think the trick is to not just paint it one flat colour. A little weathering will help I think.

    • @Natefish_Minis
      @Natefish_Minis 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Painting MDF isn't as hard as everyone thinks it is. You basically just need a good, FLAT rattle can primer. A couple of light coats, and you're ready to paint as if it were made of any other material. To take it another step, you can "seal" it after priming with a matte clear varnish of some sort. This makes sure that the MDF is sealed in, and doesn't try to soak up the new paint.

    It looks awesome but How many sets were used in this video?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 2 sets and at the time that was a total of £126. No idea if the sets have changed how much is in them or their price since Warcradle bought out Red Beam.

  • @coolsskin
    @coolsskin 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Very nice review!?
    So are the holes where you put the magnets in already in those pieces of mdf?
    Cant wait to see this painted up! So what stuff do you use be for you use primer because i think thag mdf would suck up a lot of primerpaint!

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah the holes are already there so everything lines up perfectly.
      You can give the mdf a coating of PVA before priming however I've been advised to just use a cheap pound store primer and that should be fine. I'll do a video on the painting when I get round to it.

    • @coolsskin
      @coolsskin 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ill try the cheap primer have loads of those layen around here its time to make some use of them!

    Looks pretty amazing. How long would you say gluing it all took?

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d estimate about 9hrs work over 3-4 days but that much plastic terrain would have taken way longer to clip out and clean up before glueing.

      @TabletopOddity 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd love to see how this stuff paints up.. any video on this? Also site says it's a pre order released in June was that 2017 or 2018? Lol that matters

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No videos yet buddy but will make some when I get painting it. I assume it was 2017 and hasn't been updated yet. Its definitely available right now as the owner gave me the 10% off code to share so no issues if you order it. Mine came about a week after ordering it.

    • @DeusMachina71
      @DeusMachina71 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks looking forward to seeing some painted up pieces to see how the detail shines, I live in US so high shipping rate but I'm halfway sold already

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the shipping was approx £30 to Canada so with the discount it may bring it down to a reasonable cost for you. Have you contacted Red Beam to check?

  • @necroloid123
    @necroloid123 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What items did you buy to make that fantastic setup you show him the video. Just want to know exactly what the cost would be. The only downside is that this is britain-based and I'm in Canada at the shipping is going to kill me

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought one of the Secondary Tiers and 2 x Primary Tiers. I'm not 100% sure on the shipping but hopefully the 10% off code might help offset that for you.

    • @redbeamdesigns725
      @redbeamdesigns725 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even Im not but I suspect it will be about £30 unfortunately as the shipping costs to places like Canada and the US are really high for us Im afraid. What we tend to find is people grouping together for an order to split the postage

      @necroloid123 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Buying Terrain is like paying someone to go watch movies for you. You're missing out on the most fun part of the hobby.. building your world!

    • @BlackJackLegacy
      @BlackJackLegacy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      EarlGrey that’s fair enough if you enjoy building it but if it a means to getting a good looking board quickly then it has its place. I think your analogy would be better suited to it’s like eating a meal you haven’t cooked yourself. If you love cooking great but if the point is to eat the food (or in this case play the game) then it’s all good 👍🏼
