Think of what this boy is learning from this excellent teacher!! Not only the best way to play this piece, but also 1/ To think about how the audience is feeling about the piece ("exaggerate the dynamics"); to put himself in the place of others, 2/ Self discipline to go through the drudge-work of polishing the piece, 3/ Respect and love for the creativity of another (viz. Jean-Baptiste Breval), 4/ Honesty about the progress and excellence of one's own performance, 5/ That hard work means you get to participate in a meaningful and beautiful activity. However much they are paying her, she is worth 3 times that.
I'm a 22 y/o cellist, this piece was my semester final last week. I've been playing cello for 3 years and i have tonsay, I'M COMPLETELY IMPRESSED with this kid's wonderful playing, one can tell that they'll be one of the great cellists some day. I don't even care that their already better than me, it's just to beautiful to see them play that good, it makes me so happy :') congrats! And congrats to that great teacher, she reminds me of my own teacher.
Does he still play? Know many kids who start so strong but burn out, especially when the fumes hit them (gas fumes from their car and perfume from the girls). But he seemed very engaged and willing to do the work so maybe he is near mastery.
One thing I don‘t understand about these lessons: have the students memorized the music? I used to have sheet music in front of me in every (violin) lesson.
Appreciate the lesson but I'm somewhat depressed that this little kid is already a better cello player than I will ever be 😂
I can relateeeee
The joy is in the journey - do not ever compare yourself. Life is not a competition. I'm 78 and no where near as good a player as he.
x2

Love this song! My 12 and 6 year old are both playing it and obsessed
how old was his talented kid at the recording? My daughter is 7 yrs and just playing this piece at the moment?
Wow that was amazing!
Very helpful video, thank you so much for kindly sharing.
At 10:00 I would probably ask him to slow down 3 times the speed, to get the habit of going to the tip first : D
great teacher you have she may seem like is dong UNDERSTAND! but she will really help you
I like how the teacher didnt give up and say "ok thats good" when the kid wasn't being aggressive enough. teacher kept at it.

How long should it take to memorize a piece like this?
I play this. OMG! I didn’t know that this sonata is much famous.😂
Yo todavía no puedo empezar a tocarla y está niña se lo sabe de memoria 😂 que sad
but I'm surprised that there's 7k views but not one comment ^_^
Thank you very muchhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

well he memorized it, it looks like it's something they've been working on
my teacher always asks if I'm comfortable with the piece or if I need the sheet music
That person in the background (his mom?) makes me feel uneasy. Why does she need to listen?
Good teacher. Very talented kid.
yes her taking notes too
I read a bit. They are teaching the Suzuki method where the participation of parents is important, which is why she is there.
Here the piano accompaniment of it :) pianoaccompanimentstracks.com/collections/breval-j-b-cello-sonata-in-c-op-40-n-1
