    That is such a professional looking end product! I like the multicolored lights and defusers, but the whole thing is completely insane.

    I played this at an arcade today and can say its an amazing game it attempts to slow the paddles and the ball down exactly to look like the real pong im glad it exists

      because the original takes where taken on the fly with our phones just for internal updates.
      It was not meant for a video presentation

    This is amazing! Did you guys use openbuilds v-slot for the rails? Also are you using closed loop steppers or servos?

    "This is a real physical version and a homage to the first videogame ever" Actually, "Spacewar!" came out in 1962, a decade before "Pong". Depending on your definition of videogame, there were games on electronic displays even earlier. That aside, I would buy a finished version of this as a coffee table. Great job so far!

      Are you kidding? LOTS of places would buy this, from pubs to bowling alleys to disco bars, etc... you gotta think of other customers than people who would put one at home (I'm sure there would be people who would put it at home too, though).

      I think both hockey table and this one have its place, they're clearly different, it's not the same gaming experience plus this is the best tribute to an Atari videogame ever!! I just can't wait to have this at home!

    Is the space between the ball and the paddle to prevent the magnets from interfering or just a safety margin to prevent the mechanisms from colliding under the table?

      its just by programming (as a security measure) . The mechanism is safe even if the ball contacts the pads or borders of the playfield. And there is no magnets interference.
      This is a work in progress

    Isn't it an issue that both the 'paddles' and the 'puck' have magnets? If one comes to close to the other, don't the magnets cause problems?

      No. ball has magnets in the center and pads in the back center

    twenty down-votes as of this writing. That boggles my mind. This is a really great build. It's well done, looks sharp. I dare say some of this wasn't even possible when Pong originally hit the scene. This needs to make it into the arcades across the country. But it's a great video as well. So why the down votes?
