The fellas touched on the downside to dating while not being financially stable. Does conflict live in lack of finances? Should the man the tell woman? The cast touched on all of these questions and also didn’t deny the innate will to want to be a provider and the feeling of being more equipped to handle things when finances are in order.

I think there’s a level of finically stable everyone needs to be before seriously dating. You don’t have to be at your in goal or six figures to date but if you are deeply struggling dating is more of a liability then an asset. I think it’s the same thing when woman are emotionally damaged. If you put yourself in a solid place emotionally financially and physically + letting yourself get a little old and more mature the dating experience will be a completely elevated experience. There’s a time to build yourself and there time to build with like Jalon said.

Most men can’t even concentrate if they aren’t financially stable. So, their relationship suffers because they are trying to purse the bag and be financially independent so they can provide.

Really needed this episode because I relate to it a lot. Almost two years ago I started dating this woman and instantly I knew she was the one for me. She had everything that I was looking for: good heart, smart, career driven and most importantly loving & caring. But the downfall to that was that I was in a rough position financially at the time. I just lost my job earlier that March so that entire year it was hard for me to land a good job. So I had to settle for something less just to keep money in my pockets (convenience store) in September and ended up meeting here two months later. Not being able to provide for her like I wanted to made me very insecure and in the end I would take out my frustration on her. Really taught me a lesson to never date if I’m not financially stable. Fast forward now, I’m doing pretty good financially now and better myself mentally, emotionally and spiritually but still single. Crazy how life works because she is definitely “the one that got away”. Good episode fellas 💯👊🏾

Omg. I cant believe yall said what yall said at the 12 min mark! lol it is not the man's role nor the woman's role to jumpstart each others lives. Because of a woman's nurturing nature, there's a thin line between pouring into a man and raising a man. In the topic of serious dating, I feel both individuals need to be able to at least take care of themselves financially or the relationship will become codependent.

Firstly I love the maturity of this conversation from all these kings. I absolutely respect Dukes maturity and understanding. May I add...A man saying if I am successful I'll never know is she with me because of my money and what I can provide for her is similar to a lady saying is he with me because of my beauty and let me put on weight so I can test if he loves me for my beauty and body. Of course he is with me because of my beauty but obviously that's not the only reason. Similarly a man that provides is financially stable is one of the factors that is important to quality women but not the only factor.

I was taught, when it comes to joint finances: no matter who makes the most you both take 50% of your income and place it in one account/pot (equaling 100%) . . and then discuss/ determine what comes out of said account. Whether that be mortgage, bills, etc. However revisit the account/ agreement quarterly or yearly to gauge that you all are still on the page.

  • @ChannelFiend

    Great topic & video.
Dating broke tends to lead to struggle relationships & neither party deserves that. No matter how much hard work it takes for the come up to come about, it takes money to hold a family down. And most men want a 'Submissive' woman, but in order for a woman to be and do that, the man has to be a 100% provider.
And it's unfortunate for a lot of women that we are supposed to be with a man based on potential, but a dude NEVER EVER EVER dates a woman based on potential. Never.
So if you don't have your ish ALL the way together, don't waste a young lady's time. Leave her, them be so they can develop the understanding, skills, & knowledge they need to be the best they can be for a guy who's ready to be and do what needs to be done for her.

Ya'll are so engaging and great to listen to. Love all your podcasts that you post. Nothing like a man's perspective! This topic was definitely a real one. I really think dating while not financially stable definitely depends on the maturity of the individual and the stage of a person's life. If you are really into a person for the long-term, dating while not financially stable will probably withstand the test of time. Because, hopefully you are dealing with someone who believes in you and sees that the individual who's going through a tough time is only temporary. And if that person is a praying man/woman the likelihood of that factor is not something that is going to stop them from wanting to give up on that person. Now, if the person is immature then the likelihood of this financially unstable person is definitely going to keep being an issue and become bothersome and most likely draw a wedge between the two individuals. But, dating while financially unstable/broke can be done but very hard for some ppl to do! Just my thoughts....

As far as the cardi b line she is right but not financially but like a y’all said broke is a mentality and a lot of financially messed up people tend to be mentally fucked up but that does not include the man that is financially messed up but HAS AMBITION or is trying and that man will always deserve it all! ❤️

NO! Figure your shit out, then date. It’s so selfish to NOT have your mind, emotions, finances, health together, n spirituality n then be out there dating. Then went to do “things” that can create children that neither of u aren’t prepared for. When u do that, a lot of the times it’s highly likely to start to resent u. N dude in the green is correct, there’s someone else that does have it. (College doesn’t count, bc that’s not “real” life, IMO)

BNDDNP just mean like if you not providing then you haven't earned it. Like yall have said in another episode, broke is a mindset. You can be wealthy af on paper and still be broke and stingy mentally. So what Cardi said aint necessarily putting a pricetag on the punani its just saying if you not providing then why would any woman let you have it?

Why don’t men ever talk about being able to support 45 kids or more if she wants them, it’s always about affording a woman. She’s only thinking of the future and men are thinking about just one woman I mean is sex not connected to child anymore?

Omar, Duke, Jalon, I respect your view. I think it is rare today and I appreciate that you all still operate in the traditions of our generations (90’s kids). However, I was with a guy who was a 29 year old aspiring mma fighter. He’s been chasing it for a while but when we were together, he told me his ex wife paid for everything so he could train - and so if I wanted it to work with him, that essentially would have to be the dynamic until he “makes it”. I really liked the guy but I’m also a 30 year old woman and can’t break my back working for 2 the way his ex wife did and provided for the both of them. What would you say about this type of character? You come from athlete backgrounds, also in la where people have to scrap by a bit to pursue their art. Was it normal for this guy to ask this of me… or is that a whole different beast not worth dating because y’all seem to think that type of behavior is out the question (which is respectable) what do you think?

His "ex wife" agreed to that lifestyle and she's a ex wife now. Not saying that has anything to do with their separation but im sure she regrets spending all her money funding this man's career. No real man is gonna ask you pay for everything financially if you live together and if you don't live together girl don't move in together. He's basically letting you know he won't be able to do the things a man should do in a relationship. Bills, dates, gifts, vacations. Whats in that for you at all? If he left his wife who funded him, what loyalty will he have to a girlfriend? You better off alone paying your own bills then taking on the role for 2 people with no benefits for you upfront how you'd be for him. He needs to be alone right now if he can't offer you anything. Sounds like he wants another woman to pay for his responsibilities. He can very well chase his career and pay bills just like everybody else in the world. Don't be his come up woman, we all know how that goes. You'll regret every penny you spent if he ever decided to cheat, leave you, be disrespectful etc. Its highly selfish of him... you not his sugarmomma or his mother... support goes a long way but financing?? I think tf not.
