65 and just starting! Have watched many many videos and like this guy alot. Wish me luck!
I'm 73. Wish me luck also. Lol
Good lesson for a 73 year old like me. Mother made me try to play the piano when I was 10 and I hated it. I took up harmonica a few months ago and like it. Thanks.
I have been playing for 45 years this is the first time I was able to grasp wth blues progression means. Thanks Man! Like a light the bulb is finally lit.
The roman numerals screws me up as I know the keys.
I consider myself an intermediate beginner, your teaching style is really making things make sense. Thank you.
I’m glad to help ✌️
Looking forward to next week.
thank Jonah for helping with understanding the 12 bar, it is essential to founding notes when practicing playing cords
I've been playing (learning ) for a few years. I've understood various concepts of the 12BB,
But after following this vid it all fell into place. I've now subscribed. Cheers !
This guy is a great teacher
You are a good teacher man. Definitely subscribing. Besides vibrato, I’ve mastered every technique on the harp, can play anything, but my theory is lacking and it negatively impacts my improvising, and you seem to cover the theory side very thoroughly so this channel is exactly what I need.
I am a guitar player picking up harmonica while recovering from some overuse tendon/muscle problems in my arm. Your videos have been great!
That’s exactly why I got into it too! And thanks 🙏
Thank you so much Jona really enjoying your videos
Very interesting! Waiting for the second part.
Thumbs up and subscribed! A quick note to say thanks for your clear, concise and detailed explanation! Sincerely appreciate you taking your time to make your videos! Looking forward to the next 11 parts!
Great! New one is out today 😁
good morning Jonah,
just held a class last night for blues harmonica. I threw up the 12 bar blues chart in different colors. Some caught on, some , not so much. Had the backing track going & that helped. We all had a blast & hopefully there will be some new harmonica players out there. Enjoyed this video, thanks,
Dennis
that's awesome, thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Jonah been waiting for this. Thanks again. Norm
Thank you
That was a lot of fun great lesson , I’m new and your lesson are great thank you
Love your videos dude, I’m a guitar, bass and harmonica player trying to re-learn the harmonica after having a series of T.I.A’s or mini strokes effecting my memory, thank you for sharing your knowledge ❤
Thank you
Excellent lesson Jonah, easy to follow and very helpful.
Well done! Just discovered you recently and had a lot of fun with this one. Looking forward to your other videos. Thank you!
Really enjoyed this video. You did a really good job with explaining everything such as the Roman numerals and other things. The visuals were good also for a visual and auditory learner. It helped me understand things even on guitar. Plus it’s just fun 😀
Glad it was helpful!
The way you explained it was awesome! Not mind boggling like other people do! Lol
Cool! I used to teach guitar for years, so chord stuff and theory is way up my alley. Most people avoid it but it helps!
Thanks Jonah. I actually think I am FINALLY going to get this with your help, the only person who has explained it is you ,think it’s going to happen thanks to you,as I’m the original slow learner 75 been trying to nut chords out for donkeys ages, with your help and if I practice I’ll get it. Thanks so much for your lessons. Warm Regards. From Western Australia. Norm
Hey Norm, that’s great to hear! Music is all about getting the basics really down really well, and then adding the complexity later intentionally, which is almost never that approach that people take. Seriously, just grind out those notes and chords with backing tracks, it makes such a big difference. Try to really understand what your playing, as far as chords and scales go, because when things get more complex, and you want some element of the song to be familiar and intuitive.
Really helpful thank you Jonah
Thank you that helped me out so much I understand so much more after that lesson thanks a bunch
Glad it helped!
You are a great teacher
Awesome ! Thanks !
Superb
But very instructive!!!
Brilliant. Cheers mate.
Yep, guitar player here (13+ years) self-taught, being Jonah-taught on harmonica for 3 weeks now :p
Perfect! 👌🏻
Hi Jonah, absolutely love your teaching method and style. Think it's about time you considered developing some harp courses (blues preferably). There are many teachers out there and I've subscribed to quite a few but I think you've got the recipe right. I would definitely sign up today.
Thanks John! I’m working on it! I’ll be releasing one later this year.
Brilliant Jonah, I'll be looking out for it. Cheers.
Not a guitar player here but looking to learn it too!
Hi Jonah. LOVED this video. How do I get to the remaining 11 in the series?
Jonah, supposedly this is a 12 part series, however, you've stated that you didn't't label them as such. I would like to know how to find the rest of the series. Thank you.
I'm actually a harmonica player for 7 years getting into guitar, 2 years
I have 2 hohners 1 has open sides in a marine band the other has closed sides in a vintage blues are they the same inside same key of c John
The blues. I can follow the chord progressions and play the bass notes an chords. My challenge is improvising within the chord structure. I heard you say that you can play any of the notes in the blues scale and land on base note as needed. Do you have any basic tips for improvising over each section? Thank you.
One thing I've heard over and over again at jazz workshops is to listen to great solos and transcribe them if you need more
Brilliant ! how do i watch part 2 of 12 though ?
th-cam.com/video/LurV4jTSW7c/w-d-xo.html There still is an ongoing series, I just stopped labeling them as such in the title, they still build off each other :) got a new chord lesson coming on on Thursday that connects with this one well!
@@HarmonicaRevolution Know what Jonah "you've made my day. can't thank you enough for replying to me. Thanks so much I love your knowledge and ability to "get a point over" You been so helpful.
Guitarist/flautist who’s taken up harmonica for melody/solos….. but has extreme problems with smooth transitions from one note to the next - probably caused by the flute being a ‘blow-only’ instrument! Suggestions….?
I'll be watching fa sho
For some reason the 2 draw on my harmonica won’t play right. I tried it on a different harmonica same thing. I can play any other hole fine except the 2. Is there a trick that I’m unaware of? It blows but won’t draw properly.
👍👏
I have trouble playing harmonica because I am left handed.. I have to hold the harmonica upside down... But it's deficult to bend the notes properly playing up side down...Is there harmonica for left handed player?
No there isn't, but I doubt that it's the upside down factor that makes bending hard. Ive had to switch hands due to injury before and it's not very different. Bending is just difficult. You just need practice, most likely.
@@HarmonicaRevolution there are notes which I feel hard to bend but I feel easier to bend the note after turn the harmonica in a proper way.. but it's difficult to change since I already played up side down.. but thank you so much.. for you advise... I will practice.. I really learn from you lesson on youtube..
I wish I can learn from you online class.
@@HarmonicaRevolution thank you so much for your Reply 🙏.
What are the chords?
I'm 70 been playing 1 yr still don't get 12 bar from anyone. It's my disability. But I won't give up
Uffff difficile.
