I was there 😉 as every year... did you know that the village of wacken is a small village with only 1900 residents? But for one week the village Wacken is the 80th biggest city in Germany 😂 Great reaction as always my friend 🤘
Thanks so much for doing this. The song (and the album it comes from) is from Tolkien's book the Silmarillion. The story is about the theft of the Silmarils (beautiful glowing gems of light) from the blessed realm of Arda by Morgoth the enemy. He killed Finwe, the high king of the Elves while he was at it. Finwe's son, Faenor who became the banished king, took his people, the Noldor, back to Middle Earth to wage war on Melkor. This became the doom of the Noldor, and they were all but destroyed. Faenor swore an oath to get the jewels back that led to all the problems that came later in Lord of the Rings.
And in the end, Galadriel broke the Noldor's curse, partly because of her assistance against Sauron, but mostly because she was able to refuse the One Ring when Frodo offered it to her. That's why she says "I passed the test".
Been at a few Guardian shows. The band straight up uses the crowd. I've seen Hansi sing to match the audience. There is genuinely nothing like a passionate BG crowd. It still gives me chills thinking about that many people singing as one... For every. Single. Song. It's pure magic.
You got the point with Blind: they really are modern bards. They sing tales and stories. Even Andrè's solo are meaningful sentences and not just shredding. A favourite quote of mine from their lyrics is "I'm not a king, I'm just a bard". Very humble, in a world (metal) with so many "kings", "gods" and the like.
Bright eyes, Sacred Worlds, Tanelorn, Valkyries, Fly, Under the Ice, Punisher divine, Mordreds Song, Lord of the Rings, Curse my name, The France... over 30 years of music, there is a lot to do.
Not that familiar with Blind Guardian but they have another great song called "mirror, mirror", you might wanna check that out too. Seems like Blind Guardian + Wacken = magic.
I wasn't there, but I was lucky enough to hear them in my hometown around 2003 or so, at a venue with a capacity of about 200. It was the closest thing to a religious experience I've ever had, with about half of the audience knowing all of the lyrics and the rest of us singing along anyways. And the smaller venue didn't mean it was less epic. Guardian has always been a band that gives it their all no matter what.
Hansi Kursch killing it again, Fantastic band. At Wacken Open Air near Hamburg are at average 80.000 people enjoying music. I like Hansi in the Ayreon song Age of Shadows as well together with Marco and Floor th-cam.com/video/aci08VQ4ch4/w-d-xo.html or River of Time - th-cam.com/video/j7zxZdfQpuM/w-d-xo.html From the Beethoven of Metal Arjen Lucassen
Muchas gracias, no sabes cuánto te agradezco poner por aquí esos links ... fue impresionante y emocionante no sabía de esa colaboración ... muchas gracias ... ... sorry, no spanish ...ok, thank you sooooo much for the links, both were amazing. thank you thank you thank you
Wacken - population: 1,900 most of the year.... 50 times that for the festival! Hansi's appearance and voice always makes me think the voice belongs to someone else!.... So good! JRRT's Silmarillion should be a movie with this album as most of the soundtrack!
A little hint: a new cover will be released tomorrow June 11th, by Floor Jansen will be released. This time with reinforcement from Henk Port (from Phantom of the Opera). 😁
After Blind Guardian and Rammstein you should check out "Mono Inc.", an other german Rock-Band with an female drummer My suggestion: "Children of the dark" th-cam.com/video/Uhv0ShjqRVQ/w-d-xo.html

3:10 bro, you are not wrong about taking over a small country by a metal audience. but you can take over a medium sized country by a manowar audience. i assume you know of them but their crowd is a lot more dedicated.

Was there, can actually see myself crowd-surfing in one of the shots. One of the best days of my life for sure
