    Please consider a Rotax 915 for the US market. With a turbo charged engine around the power output of the 915 the stream may be capable of 200 knots (370 kph) cruise speed at higher altitudes. That kind of performance is very expensive, not only in procurement cost but also operating costs. Comparable aircraft with similar performance (200+ knot cruise) currently use large engines and many have high landing speeds. You guys have a great design that could have a niche in the US with a bigger engine.

    • @2Phast4Rocket
      @2Phast4Rocket 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This plane is not qualified for ultralight or LSA in the US. The company might as well put a bigger engine and sell it as regular aircraft but the certification will make it too expensive.

      @@philipabernathy2504 : That is my point. The plane does not meet the LSA rules in the USA. It certainly won't meet the experimental rules either because it cannot be built by a builder with at least 51% of his effort. Needless to say, it will be be sold in the USA with the current form.

You can buy a C42 if you do not want to spend that much money. People and of course pilots will buy this plane, as well pilots buy C42, Tecnams, FKs and what so ever. Its like in the car business, you can buy a Smart or a Mercedes, both are well in the market. If you think it is too expensive, do not buy it. Some other guy will think, woow nice, I can afford it and I will buy it. But please stay realistic in your options. The Stream will not run TL out of business. The company is strong and perfect in business. Let everybody enjoy their personal dreams.

      Realis Immobilien Management & Service --I totally understand market living in Florida!
      Remember if a guy does a job and buys million dollars worth of equipment to do a $100k job he can’t expect to raise price for development n research for the job, if he wants more customers he will keep the price at cost plus 30-40% until he has more customers and proven record. You can’t charge for research etc that’s part of building your product n reputation, and u can’t charged based on market of PROVEN COMPANIES THAT HAVE A GREAT BALANCE SHEET, if so you will likely not survive, I think getting more customers is more important at first than trying to charge the most, that’s just me. Keep in mind FAA is going to change weight limits or useful load!
      I love your airplane !!!!!
      I just hate to see the people who brought it to market not survive!
      I also know from experience yes you will sell no matter what to RICH POCKETS because they always have money, and will spend no matter what!!!!!

      No, this is in fact an ultralight aircraft. Remember that US regulations are very different than from the rest of the world. Microlight aircraft (sometimes incorrectly named "ultralight") are basically powered hang-gliders with a very tight restriction regarding power, speed and range. In the US, LSA is the closest approximation to the European ultralight category. Ultralights are usually somewhat lighter than LSA, but without any upper restriction for speed or range, so some ultralights have a Vne at 170 kts and an operative range of a thousand km or more.

      It will cost more than 400,000 USD. If it has to be imported to the USA, the certification will push it over 500,000 USD, even more expensive than the four seat Mooney

    Definate similarities to the Blackshape Prime and Shark, but that is ok. They are both great airplanes!! This airplane will not qualify as LSA in the US because of the retractable gear, but could be flown as an Experimental. TL Ultralight has always produced affordable planes, such as the Sting series of aircraft. Hopefully this plane will be available in the US for less than $130,000 U.S. Dollars.

      The TL Ultralight is 650lbs. Cruises at 180 MPH and carries 24.3 gallons of fuel. It costs 185,000 Euros or 206,000 USD.
      In the U.S., flying an ultralight doesn't require a license or a medical certificate of any kind, providing the aircraft meets the Federal Aviation Regulation called Part 103.
      Max. Empty Weight (Powered Aircraft)
      254 lbs
      Max. Empty Weight (Unpowered Aircraft)
      155 lbs
      Max. Fuel Capacity
      5 Gallons
      Max. Speed @ Full Power
      55 knots
      Max. Stall Speed (Power Off)
      24 knots.
      You would need a private pilots license to fly this airplane in the United States.

      @axilleas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Ade Matthews true. Also, for anyone not familliar with the regulation in place within most of the EU, we can't even fly powered gliders without licenses here, maybe that's why we have more lax laws regarding ultralights.

    I don't know much about aviation. Honest question: is this actually an "ultralight?"
    My understanding is: there are strict standards about what can be called an ultralight. For example, they can fly for 2.5 hours.
    Also, is the fuel consumption for airplane especially low? How would it compare to Cessna 172.
    Can anybody advise on this?

    • @thomaskolb8785
      @thomaskolb8785 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ultralight in US means something quite different than in other parts of the world. An ultralight aircraft has a max weight of 472 kg and with a max crew of two. There are no upper limitations of range or speed. Flying one requires several months of training and a special UL pilot license. In the US there is no such thing as Ultralight: there are "microlights", which are basically powered hang gliders and then you have "light sport aircraft". Ultralights would go between these categories, but for some reason they are not allowed in the US.
      Since this aircraft uses a Rotax engine, the fuel consumption should be around 15 liters per hour (I haven't checked the specs for this very model, but usually that is where UL aircraft go). This is roughly a third of a C-172.

  • @jopitomnik1396
    @jopitomnik1396 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    OK for those who don't know most of European UL rules. Not more than 500 kg MTOW. Not more than 300 kg empty weight. Not more than 65 kph for landing speed. Not more than one passenger. Not more than 100 horse power... That is all.
