Porte de Paris - 4K Tour of this Wonderful 17th-Century Monument in Lille

  • The Porte de Paris is a monument in Lille, a large city in the utmost northern part of France.
    It was commissioned by Louis XIV after he was victorious in a 10-day siege on the city in 1667.
    He presumably entered Lille through this gate to receive the key to the city. A year later, Lille became part of France after peace negotiations with France.
    The monumental structure is quite impressive, and so are the surroundings. The Belfry of the Hôtel de Ville, Lille's city hall, stands just nearby as well.
