I'm near certain Patrick Graham is gonna leave for a head coaching job next year. I'm worried that if/when the defense regresses, is Getsy the guy to take our offense into a SB run before the defense gets super expensive.

It’s different defensively tho it always takes time for defenses to grow and even then it doesn’t work out. In this day and age offenses hit the ground running but I saw this coming the day we hired Getsy. AP did a horrible job hiring his offensive staff and that is why will probably go 4-13 to 6-11.

Justin Fields is terrible. All he can do is stare down one receiver and then take off running or throw an INT. He can't read coverages, he can't diagnose defenses, he can't go through 2 or 3 progressions. It was reported also that he wasn't interested in getting advice from other veteran QBs. Getsy is from the Shanahan/McVay/LaFleur coaching tree. If we can run the ball well and the Oline can pass block then the offense will be fine b/c I'm confident that AOC or Minshew are both smarter than Fields. This is much ado about nothing.

@@S62Uce It’s not worse than McDaniels but it’s not any better. Us Raider fans want to believe that Fields was the problem but nah man Getsy is a terrible coach he’s the same as Hackett ot Paul Guenther these guys cant build a offense on they own they’re only good when theirs a established offense in place with a established offensive minded HC watching over them.

When everyone knows it's a pass, it's easier for CBS to jump on routes.
This is the best time to take gambles. See what does and doesn't work

You have a an offense that is installing while one of the best defensive coordinators is continuing his defense. I think this is a slight reach but an interesting take, and also because I take into account what Mayer said on media day. He said this offense is simplified. We should take into account how difficult the previous offense was. I don’t think a new implemented offense is going to destroy a top 10 defense and one of the best DCs right away. Sanjit you raise a valid point. One of the criticism of Josh McDaniels offense was that it was too complicated and it hi dered the players performance. Is history repeating itself. Coaches should follow the KISS principle. That makes it easy on coaches and players. What's the point I having an offense that's very complicated and players take forever to learn. By then the coach is replaced and we start all over again. A valuable lesson for AP.

So obviously when u have a new system that both QB's are learning not including every offensive player is learning ur gonna have growing pains the Defense which is very good is gonna make them look like there learning. I'm gonna give this offense the entire off-season to get on track. If we're in week 3 and not progressing as we should then I'll start to worry.

While JF1 was part of the issues for the Bears struggles, so was Luke. His 2nd and 4th quarter play calling was not very good, and at times far too conservative. Gets was the Packers passing game coordinator when Adams in both seasons Adams had his highest yards total and highest TD total. We're in good shape with Getsy and he has some nice play designs for 12 personel. He also has better weapons here in LV and a better offensive line.

I have not read a single report for the starting left offensive tackle was on the field at the same time as either of these quarterbacks. That is crucially important and evaluating the entirety of the offense. I just hope that Colton Miller has the talent to justify his role as the starting OLT. If he fails, the offense will fail.
Not only isn’t a solid starting OL in place, but the entire playbook is being thrown all at once at the offense, though we are told that it will be trimmed back to successful plays before the first game.
Defense is instinctive; offense requires a considerable amount of understanding and thought and coordination. Before we jump to conclusions, let’s wait and see what we have when the first game is played.

I haven't watched the video ot read the comments yet but if they're not full of people saying things like "no kidding our offense looks bad, if it didn't, we would be in some serious hurt this year. We have a completely new offense being installed across from a 99% returning and improved defense that finished the season number 1 in the league. If this isn't a non story, I don't know what is!

Why aren't people putting the obvious together. #1 defense last half of the year with a DC that has been here going on his 3rd year. Also returning almost 100% of the same players on the starting D.
Going against a new offense with a new OC with no games under their belt. This Athletic reporter is a joke by leaving out this aspect in his analysis. We don't know if Getsy was hampered by the Bears HC too.🤔
    Great content Sanjit!

Luke Getsy is no Kyle Shannahan, Getsy was APs 3rd Choice and my BIGGEST concern regarding the Raiders 2024 team is Luke Getsy's ability to properly manage an Offense, and our LT Kolton Miller.
Let's hope for the best, but as a Raider fan since 1967, if we're gonna have issues within the offense my focus is gonna be on Getsy more than AOC or Minshew

Your soooo close to being spot on. Defense= Easily have the Coaching and Players to reach the post season. Offense= Most likely have the Players and doubtful we have the Coaching. AP will be under pressure to fix it. Tre looks like the quickest and fastest WR on our roster. Easy.

Also, the QB is the most mental challenging position on the Field period. Getsy has to be careful and considerate of technique overload of information. Sanj, maybe give a video on seeing ghosts!! What is meant by this for a QB !?

It’s actually not fair to talk about this.
You’re literally not running the ball atp in training. So the defense knows pass is coming every time. Almost every offense in the league is going to be way behind the defense at this point in the year.
Do we forget already how terrible of a mini camp and training camp Brock Purdy had last year?… where did he end up by the end of the season? 🤔
    This really is nothing

Bro the o line can’t even block during the OTAs and in interviews with AP and Getsey saying Maxx and the Dline are going balls to the wall not letting up how is he going to get any better when he is getting pressured every play lol. They are installing a new offense and going against a top 5 D .

Installing a new offense. The defense knows that there are not running plays coming at them. I realize that people need things to talk about--especially since there is a month before players get back to practice--but I've seen some of the absolute dumbest comments on the internet regarding this. I think the answer is to keep busy for another month on other things, then get back to football.

One BIG thing I just thought of. This whole Offensive staff is VERY different from bears. We have Joe Philbin in the room to help coach the coaches. We have Rich Scangarello (known as a good play designer and has experience installing.), Edgar Bennet, Scott Turner Thats 5 OCs. SO different from the Bears room. IF something is up - I believe it WILL get corrected and AP won't allow dictators. Also remember two weeks ago this was "easier" than last year everyone was saying.

I agree totally! The OC was a bad hire! It is very easy for us armchair coaches to see when the playcalling is wrong! We could see that with Olsen, Gruden’s OC! When we start losing, I just hope AP takes the reins from Getsy, like he did from Graham,( after which the defense extremely improved) and calls a better, simplified offense!

Coordinators have to find a balance, be able to make your calls and adjustments to a point, but you have to eventually let your players do what they do best from their instincts. You cannot micromanage every situation and play like McDaniels did.

The offense is 2 years behind this top 5 defense, this is Gram's 3rd year and Luke Getsy's 1st, that being said...AP will look at offense and will allow this QB room to grow but at the same time kill any plays that just wont work, this offense will evolve during camp.

  • @drew0513

So the offense struggled. So what? It's so early with their new approach and new offense, that there is no reason to think of panic. The only thing anyone would probably want is to see them get more comfortable with this new offense and scheme.

I’m surprised coaches aren’t able to adjust the scheme or how it’s taught to the players. Also, these aren’t just players these are world class athletes experts in their position. It shouldn’t be that complicated. If this is true it is very concerning. KEEP IT SIMPLE GETSY!

There is no running game in OTAs defense just sits back and waits for the pass and you add a new system to the mix not to mention how good are defense was by the end of the year and how the defense has improved in the offseason. With that being said it would be more concerning if the defense wasn’t dominating.

  • @capecodraiders47

In these 7 on 7's, are they running the ball? Are they just playing catch and cover? While no Maxx Crosby is coming after the QB, if no RB is keeping safeties honest then the offense is vanilla at best. It's not the 1970's anymore. You can't just wing it. One of Aidan's strong suits was his ability to read defenses. He wasn't always on the same page with the receivers but they were dropping some passes too. The Raiders are also not going to show a tattle tale like Reed everything.
