- The setting you choose to work in, whether it’s academic, community, or private practice, plays a key role in your happiness. But what are the differences between these options, and how do you know which one is best for you?
Academic Hospitals: They are affiliated with medical schools or universities, and these hospitals require more from you than just clinical practice. In academic hospitals, you’ll also be spending time teaching students and residents and doing research.
Community Practice: This type of practice is much broader. In a community hospital, you’re employed by the hospital and take on a more clinical role. You may or may not have residents, and the majority of your work will be based in the hospital and its affiliated clinics.
Private Practice: This type differs from academic and community hospitals in the sense that you’re not employed by the hospital. Instead, you’re either starting your own practice or joining a pre-existing group, but your practice can still be affiliated with community hospitals.
What are the pros and cons of each practice? Let’s break down the most important factors to consider.

Now that you know the pros and cons of each practice, which one do you think is the best for you? 📝🧐
Community should have been broken down into public and private. Also Community should be broken down into Public Health like the VA (where I get my care) and BIS and public hospitals etc. Love your channel...I'm a wish I could have been a Doctor.
You should make an Intensivist “So You Want To Be” Episode!
Thanks for the suggestion. We have one for Pediatric Intensivist. We'll add Intensivist to our list!
I would love a "so you want to be" a genetist and genetics, sadly nobody has cover that subject at all
A geneticist is NOT a medical doctor though.
@@marlonmoncrieffe0728 a clinical geneticist it is
Nice
Dr Jubbal, I'm waiting for Optometry video. I love your videos so much.❤❤❤❤
Haven’t you been to one before? It’s usually a girl and then the guys they do surgery I guess
Total cost of school is $300k to make less than $150k per year and not be respected as an actual doctor. You need to get good at saying “Those frames look cute on you”. What else would you like to know?
Great video! I would love to see so you want to be dietitian? Or dietitian vs nutritionist video!
Yesss
Neither are MDs though.
There IS a video gastroenterology though.
Nutritionist is a broad term. Dieticians are nutritionists. But they can do much more than "certified nutritionists" can. They're much better trained. It would be similar to comparing psychiatrists and social worker I think
Please do a "so you want to be a pulmonologist" video
Can you guys do a video about being a respiratory therapist?
Do you have any videos on physician-scientists?
Can you do heme onc?
Hello, Med School Insiders
I would like to plead with you to make a video about best medical schools to go to
Hello, can you make a "so you want to be an oncologist" video
I'm in 11th grade this year and i only just decided what I wanted to do ( i want to go into pediatrics ) and i need help because i am truly confused on things like what i should major in in college what extracurriculars i should do in college and other things like that, anyone have any advice?
There are many resources on this channel and the Med School Insiders blog that help students pick their ideal premed path. Start here: medschoolinsiders.com/pre-med/whats-the-easiest-premed-major/
We also have a new series on this channel covering Extracurriculars, as well as a guide on How to Choose Premed and Medical School Extracurriculars: medschoolinsiders.com/medical-student/how-to-choose-extracurriculars-during-medical-school/
And can you also advice student that are intersted in medicine as their course in university but due to the world continuous development in technology. It is said that this course will likely be taken over in about 20 years. And how will underage student about 14 years old believe they can adapt with the rigor of university while studing medicine as their desired course. Find schools which can give them acceptance
Can you do pediatric pulmonologist/ pulmonologist thanks ❤😊
What’s the difference?
@@chrismarimon so a pediatric pulmonologist is where you specialize in treating children with breathing problems. Common conditions we treat include: Asthma. Pneumonia. Wheezing. And pulmonologist is a medical doctor who specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases and conditions. You’re welcome
@@faoza-aslanmohammed8554 thank you, i didn't see the word "pediatric" there 🤦♂
@@chrismarimon ok i see
Hmmmm. Isn't it illegal for hospitals to employ physicians 🤔
There are a very selective few exceptions like baylor Scott and white, but generally that is not rulling.
Hello sir I can animate video for your TH-cam channel
The private practice people rub me the wrong way. I don't think their heart is in the right place. Then again, academic is wayyyyyy too much nonsense and busywork. I think community is the right choice for me.
Isn’t it possible that they just prefer more autonomy over their schedule?
1st view :P
