PART 1 Darwin Unplugged The Handbrake's Holiday

When the Handbrake suggested we go to my mate's wedding up in Darwin I am pretty sure she didn't have this trip in mind!
After packing up Milo and meeting up with my mate Simon in his 60 Series and the camera guys in the Jeep, we started heading north and we made our first pit stop overnight at the Barcoo Hotel in Blackall. Back on the road we headed up through Ilfracombe which meant an obligatory stop to check out all the cool machinery on display, although I think my enthusiasm was lost on the Handbrake.
We pulled in at the Wlalkabout Creek Hotel a bit later than expected and the locals were on bloody good form, we certainly knew we had had a good night the next morning.
For a change my mate Si offered to cook up dinner in the Shuttle Chef so I helped out and whipped up egg and bacon butties to help things along. That day we checked out the old mining camps at Ballara which naturally made the Handbrake really happy. We camped that night at the Rosebud Dam which is located located along the Corella Creek a kilometre or so from the old township of Bulonga, but the water level was a bit low for a dip.

Roothy mate I been a fan since I got my 60 series 15 yrs ago! Did many trips around Queensland in her and she never let me down! Then in 2017 I copped a dose of cancer! During recovery I would watch old 4wd action DVDs this kept my spirit's high! And your words I always remember "just get out there" have stuck with me!! I've now almost finished restoring my 60series and I'm working on filling my pockets with cash so I can "just get out there"!! Thankyou roothy from the bottom of my heart mate!!👍👍👍

I'm really missing the dust right now, and the campsites away from everyone...good tucker..yea they're the type of campsite I remember, out the back of burke the black stump was one of many campfires. And yeah the beer was cold.....thanks for putting them up on youtube Roothy

Good to see your better half joining you on your adventures mate! Always love watching your content Roothy, all the way back to the 4WD Monthly Days. I still chuck on the old DVD's and remember how you inspired me to get into this incredible past time of ours. Without you mate the 4 wheel driving/camping community just wouldn't be the same. I'm spewing i was too busy with work to notice that Milo was going to a Museum! Or i would have been there for that event. One day we'll meet after this virus clears off and it'll be an absolute honour mate. You've done so much for so many people.

How’s it going roothy? That big knob dial thing you turned just before the 3 minute mark, what was it mate? Seen them before but never understood what they do...!
Its an isolator and/or changeover switch to isolate his batteries, not sure how he has it set up.
Yep, Jons's right - I use the 'boat switch' to isolate everything, or connect battery 1, 2 or 1 and 2 together - manual is simple rather than electronic...
