If you can play like that, your life is actually completed, what more can you do.

I've always been a fan of Nils Lofgren since I heard him one time on the radio. Since then I've managed to gather about 7 of his CD's. Still enjoying them after 30 years.

I hear some Rory Gallagher in those licks.

It just occurred to me that Nils is what Springsteen wanted to be. I think Nils didn't want the pressure of heading a super-star band, especially in his drinking days. I wonder how much cash springsteen would be willing to dole out to play like Nils in this song.

Springsteen has written 150 great songs...arguably more. Nils is one of the greatest guitarists of all time..but he ain't no great songwriter. And Bruce was an incredibly gifted guitar player back in the day...check out anything from his 1978 Darkness tour .insanely good. Nils is a legend player for sure.

@keithlacey9221 I think that's why it fitted well. Don't forget that Nils is not only an excellent guitarist, but can also play backing vocals, keyboards, accordion, pedal steel guitar, banjo and even harp. Any artist would wish for such a band member. They also seem to have a strong mental bond. Personally, I regret that Nils didn't go for a solo career more. You don't have to be a good songwriter, you can use all the great material from Bruce, Neil Young, etc. Even the giant Johnny Cash has done great interpretations of songs written by others, like "Hurt", by Nine Inch Nails, really worth checking out ;)

@@ronnie9187 No shame in doing covers , as long as they 'scratch your ear' In 1974, in a little atrium on the Georgetown campus, I hit the best concert of my life, seeing original GRIN, wehile at American Univ hallways All I heard was "Eat a Peach" (yuck-"syruppy" sorry) as I played Grin, Music of my Mind- Stevie Wonder, Isley- Atlantis, and if you need a shot in the arm "CHASE" LOUD.

Typical for Nils: He is brilliant, premium, but his band is always a bit lower than average :-(
