I truly feel for him despite a lot of the awful things the addiction has cause for those around him. DGD early stuff is wild with him puking on stage, mumbling and forgetting the lyrics but still somehow killing it. I'll follow that man to whatever band he goes to, or if he goes solo. On stage recovery during pounce bounce!! The guys didn't even miss a note while trying to get the mic figured out.That is what proves this line up flowed well together. This is one of my favorite live sets, DGD rules regardless of who is fronting them. So smoove!
I've been a fan of DGD since they released DTBM and I've stuck with them over the years through all their line up changes. I've seen them live 5 times, and in a few weeks I'll see them for the 6th time. They will probably always be one of my favorites. But...I'd hate to say it, I don't think they'll ever be this great or energetic again. The DTBMII era was when they were at their peak of success and perfection.

Kurt Travis had sick presence too. Tillian is just like there.. humping the air. Lmao I saw them at warped a month or whatever ago and he kept fucking the air. They only played mothership songs. They said they would've played Lemon Meringue tie but they got cut short. Tillian can't sing the old material in a way I like. The songs that are written specifically with his vocals in mind he's alright with, it's just different. But he doesn't have the voice to sound as powerful as Jonny or even Kurt on the older stuff. Kurt singing Jonny stuff is better than tillian singing Jonny stuff. He can't sing much of kurts stuff either.

There should be a few bios on the internet, but he had respiratory problems for every album (including the death star album with kurt as lead vocalist), if you watch live videos from early 2000s or even earlier you can see Jon struggle to breathe while screaming. Before he rejoined DGD for DTBM2 he had left the band (time of Happiness album still with kurt) in order to have some surgeries. When he rejoined DGD he had either reached his intended screaming sound or it just changed the way he sound

Jonny kinda sucks at singing, like he doesnt really come close to Kurt or Tilian, after you get over his wailing you realise how much he tries to overcompensate for his lack of versatility. Like sure hes decent enough and nice to listen to but to say "i can see why his ego is so massive." Is just a bit much.

watching the few live sets from when Jonny came back into the band for DBMII makes me really happy he ended up not being the vocalist for long (regardless of what the reasons were). DGD completely ignoring anything that Kurt did with the band is not cool, and with Jonny it seemed that was the direction they were heading. I don't think his ego would allow him to perform Kurts songs. At least with Tilian we get a pretty sick set list, because he does vocals from all the albums.

Lets make this clear, Jonny has been clean for over a year now. The progress he's made is unbelievable. I went to a DGD show before and you could tell he was so fucked up. Im glad he's doing his own thing and he's staying clean. If he was back in this scene he would probably still be fucked up on drugs.

Not perfectly sure if this dramatic change in sound was voluntary or as a result of the surgeries. I have been researching DGD for a while but I don't know the answer to this question. If I had to guess I'd say that the surgeries allowed him to take in/exhale more air ("vocally") and pinch his vocal cords more, causing this new sound that we hear today. If anyone else has more info on stuff related to this feel free to add haha

Not perfectly sure if this dramatic change in sound was voluntary or as a result of the surgeries. I have been researching DGD for a while but I don't know the answer to this question. If I had to guess I'd say that the surgeries allowed him to take in/exhale more air ("vocally") and pinch his vocal cords more, causing this new sound that we hear today. If anyone else has more info on stuff related to this feel free to add haha
