If you have BMW 5 series e60 e61, and you get transmission malfunction light, your car starts slow, shifts funny or does not even start we will show you what can cause that on BMW 5 series e60 e61. We demonstrated how a loose crankshaft position sensor, or bad crankshaft position sensor can make your car transmission light to come on and make your car not shift gears right, your car may start slow or not start at all.

Thanks I'm having this issue as well where I get the error message: Transmission Malfunction Error, speed reduced, decrease acceleration etc etc.
I restart the car and the error goes away. You mentioned in the video that this is actually a common issue and could simply be from a loose wire or the sensor itself just needs replaced? Incredible if that is the case thank you!

Today the car took longer than normal to start 😥owk finally the car started 😊as I was trying to drive, the car barely move 😮like I have to press gas on flat surface🤔owk I watched this video, wiggled my crankshaft position sensor connector 🤗
I further reseted transmission error, guess what....?

this video demonstrates exactly what is happening in my 2008 528xi , I cant do the work myself, ive been told that this also might just be a bad battery? have you encountered that? that being said, if I were to bring this to a non dealer who fixes BMW, any idea of how many labor hours this would be or how much it would roughly cost? thanks again!
What if I change camshaft and crankshaft sensor I got both just because but I’m big on if it’s not broke don’t fix because it could cause another problem just replacing it

Can this cause a crank no start issue?
I have a 2004 BMW 530i with 160K miles on it. I replaced the intake and exhaust camshaft position sensors ($60) + flushed the Transmission fluid with a new filter but I still get the "Transmission Malfunction" error. The funny thing is I noticed it happens usually on the same exit in the freeway on my way to work which makes me think it has to do with something that is time-dependent (sensor, electrical) rather than a mechanical issue. Yesterday I cleared the code, turned the car on (parked), left it on for about 15 min, and noticed the "Transmission Malfunction" error came back on.
Issues I'm getting are:
1.) Randomly get the error and feels like someone rear-ends me and the car gets stuck in whatever gear it's in. I pull over, turn off the car, wait for a min or two and turn it back on.
2.) The car loses power and I need to pull over to turn it off and on again. This is a new problem and sometimes the car doesn't even want to start for a good 5 min. This is a new issue btw.
If anyone knows these symptoms and has a solution please share.

Nope! Happened twice after my last sensor replacement and i drove 80 miles since then. So issue still persists.
Hi! I’ve got a 520d lci, I recently fully serviced my gearbox, it’s an automatic one.
My car runs weird, I’ve got no fault coming un on diagnosis, however, when the car is cold sometimes it drops the rpm as soon as I take my foot of the accelerator and it doesn’t hold the gear properly and when is under load it feels like loss of power. If I floor it, it works fine...
I cannot find the problem 😳

My 07 550i does similar in D, changing to DS solves so the auto trans doesn't try to put you 4th gear too early. But now I got to fix my wires from putting into sport so much wore out the wires inside the shifter

I have a 2010 550i Gt and it’s doing the same thing. Except when I first turn it on it’s already shaking saying drivetrain malfunction. We’ve changed the spark plugs, coils and computer and the issue is still there. Any help ? Thank you !

Hello did you change the valve body ? Cause your transmission is on safe mode due to incorrect valve body good luck with the project
Hi Sir please help me i have a 630i at one Point it whent in fault transmision fault orange light than red and limp mode , the fault is u110f .. the gears work fijne but on the Dash it do not show in what gear it is and no crank .. next dat it don't start I THINK I EXEDENTLY PUT IN REVERCE WHILE DRIVING I AM NOT SHORE MABY THERE IS A SAIFTY? Does this help with p17e5? I also change camshaft sensor ,new coils ,cleaned vanos, and put new fluid in the transmission

Just replaced the pcv breather hoses i put them back together and got a message transmition malfunction might have disconnected accidentally
I’m having a transmission malfunction too with my 2010 BMW 550i…it turns on but it won’t let me put it in drive it just stays in park.
There's a video on yt that shows you how to reset it but it's not a permanent fix. We had to do this several times every other time starting the car and it work every time. Mines was stalling and then this tranmission thing and then finally stalled out and now a crank no start. Its at the shop right now and im hoping its just the crankshaft sensor as we did get that code on the scanner along with a few other codes. If you can't find the video, let me know and I'll go throught my videos and find and link it. Hope that helps you.😊

Hi there. Does anyone know what this code means- 96 can engine speed. One day it's there and another day it's gone. Keeps showing up randomly and when it's there the gears are not changing smoothly. Thanks

Hello. This also give you a xc90 p17ec? I changed all the coils and the car was running better for one day and now it's misfiring. That's the only code it shows me. Could it be carbon build up? Or that sensor?
Funny, the obdII gives me the code p17ec and says $18....I just checked your link to the sensor and it cost $18.99....could it be this?

I have a 730 Li BMW 2006. i did not use the car for about 1 month and the batter went discharged. I jump started the car but I have a problem. engine started but when I tried engage gear, it shows 'D' on the annunciator but within a second it goes back to 'P'. when I try to put to 'R' it goes back to 'P' too. I cannot drive the car. Can you please tell me what I can do to get the car back on the road?

@@rnbman1982 Yes, if you have a Solenoid Code then change all Solenoid, sleeves and oil change. I fixed this and another code appeared from the torque Converter. Broke My Wallet literally 😋

@@alcon04 yes I got solenoid 5 on mine and I had to change all solenoids. Shop charged $2700 so I decided to do the work myself with a friend and it’s running good, got another code “TCC solenoid stuck off” but everything’s been running good.
