The Malaysian Chineses’ ancestor left China for Malaysia before the Cultural Revolution, making our traditional culture intact and distinct. We still speak our Southern Chinese languages (Cantonese, Hokkien, Hakka, Teochew, Hainan, Fuzhou, Guangxi, Sankiang), and retain a lot of the old customs and culture. The high pole lion dance, Lou sang, Bakuteh dish were invented in Malaysia. We too produce the most Chinese New Year songs, even more than China Hong Kong and Taiwan.
I miss delicious food in Malaysia, used to be stationed there for work in Penang for a few years before covid. People are very friendly and nice, along with the delicious food. Is such a blessing for us as foreigners to experience.
There a Malaysian restaurant in NYC my friends and I frequented. There was definitely fusion of Chinese and Malay taste on a few dishes. Rest were distinctly Malaysian. I’m n FL now so miss it! The Chinese food I tried here is weird tasting. I grew up in Chinatown so I was spoiled😢
I found this video fascinating since the shop owner showed how to cook sweet gluten rice dish in a small stainless bowls that were different in Hong Kong n USA.
I salute to all the hard working ple...it's very difficult n tiring job...I wish you all prosperity and good business from many generations..abundance wealth n good health.🎉
Actually the chinese came muvh longer than that...When Admiral.Zheng He came to 5 island (Melaka) to build a Port for Emperor Ming to trade with India, another great empire..Upon landing Ma Huan, the linguist and Aide to Admiral Zheng He, noted thst Chinsee comunity from Tang.Dynastty was staying there already. Bbacl then the whole Peninsular and Temasek.was Siam.controlled. . Paramewara thst fled from Palemvang was just renting a plot of land for 40 tahil of Gold from Siam...The chinese and Ibdians have been staying in thse region for a long time due Kedah a trading City for both China and India.
@@sfk Them Malaysians are trying to steal Chinese culture and claim it as their own. Just like how they did it with Indian, Thai and Indonesian culture
We, Chinese Malaysian are of course part of Malaysian culture. As for me, my great grandparents are born in Malaysia. My families are Nyonya Babas. Im very Proud of my Nyonya Baba heritage

There is ONLY ONE WAY to keep anything alive. EAT, SPEAK, READ and USE it everyday.
This is a time honored method for any culture.

Yes in Kuala Lumpur😀
Thank you
A great video 🙏🤤👍☝️😁
Thanks for watching 😄😄😄
Ethnic Chinese made their way to Malaya and Indonesia via Thailand. In the past, the Malay sultanates often sent tributes to the Chinese dynasties.
The Fung Ji Stall, the second one being featured, is no longer at the map location provided. According to the Kopi Tiam, they are no longer operating.
They seemed to move out and the location will be updated after Chinese New Year👍
Many Chinese from China will immediately feel at home, eating traditional Chinese food in Malaysia and will stay on.
i like it👍
What is that you wrap the chicken with? The paste?
I find this segment so amazing. How can Black Americans and an Asian culture prepare the same foods but just different spices😂💯
Excellent documentary👏👏👏. Thanks a lot. I do appreciate all your efforts very much🤩

Great job filming. It looks like they are using a lot of msg and sugar to marinate the pork in the Bao restaurant.
I thought Malaysia is a pure muslim and pork is not allowed.
Malaysia is a multicultural nation👍
