I kinda thought this part was the low part of the mission. Unless I'm missing something but both those dudes are shot point blank in the face by Arthur when you walk into the room. They are dead and there shouldn't be anyone left for Dutch to kill
The 3M Brothers storming Braithwaite manor would have been a hell of a thing to see. "MR MARSTON, MR MORGAN, MR MACGUIRE. WE'LL HOLD HERE. YOU GET IN THERE AND FIND OUR BOY. AND LET NOTHING GET IN YOUR WAY."

This mission just sends shivers down my spine with so much enthusiasm and excitement because the whole gang is literally like a family and they’re formed together like one of their own has been taken
It shows that Micah was the problem in all these bcs in the first place, I don't think Micah cared for anyone not even Jack when he killed his dog. Micah was the reason the gang destroyed each other.

The fact that Dutch was ready to save Jack without hesitation and by any means necessary, just shows how much of an impact Hosea had on him, he was his moral compass.
@@honor6200 ok did you play the game? When dragging Catherins down the stairs he asked if Jack was there and all the gang had searched everywhere. He did care about jack
@@honor6200 it’s true he wanted to screw over both the greys and the braithwaites but that doesn’t mean he didn’t care about Jack. Burning down the manor was to show Catherine not to messages with the gang, and they did check all the rooms for Jack, if he were there, he would’ve been easy to spot and Catherine even said that she handed him over to Bronte, why would she lie if a century’s worth of work from her family is literally being destroyed before her eyes. And although he did leave John for dead, at that point he was going crazy from the head trauma for the tram incident, the death of Hosea and letting Micah easily influence his decisions, he was a different person at that point who put the gang and loyalty above anything else.
This was pointed out at some point but she’s basically implying that they’ve survived and lived their lineage in that manor since the birth of Colonized America itself and assumed that a group of outlaws past their prime was just a footnote for them. Notice how her tone changes once Dutch shoots her son infront of her.
I completed this mission for the first time last night and I swear if anyone says video games shouldn’t be taken seriously by those in entertainment as art and masterpieces. I’ll show them this clip, the music, the acting, the cinematography and weight of the whole scene. Just pure perfection. Rockstar should be damn proud of themselves for this amazing work of art, that just happens to be a video game.
My GF, who actually hates games, rushed out of the other room to see this. We both were totally under the spell of that scene. THIS is the pinnacle of gaming folks. The only thing I may add is goosebumps...goosebumps all to my freaking soul.
I played this last night and I came just to see it one more time. Your comment is 100% accurate. If this were a live action, it’s in the academy award territory for best scene. It’s perfect
One of her boys, Bartholomew was killed first by Dutch outside. The other 2, Gareth and Gereld were shot by Arthur. One if them survived only to be shot by Dutch.
The legendary Van der Linde gang operating at their ruthless and unstoppable peak, one last time. That shot of them walking up to the manor is one of my favourite’s in the game.
You know, everyone is talking about how this was Dutch's best moment, but can we appreciate that Bill volunteered to go as well, with no hesitation? He may have been a fool and a drunk, but he was just as loyal to the gang as Arthur was.
5:07 I just love how Dutch simply walk around not bothering to run for cover. He simply walk around... Not bothered by his hat getting shot not three seconds later.
this mission is so badass. everybody slowly approaches the building with guns out. and then walk out of the burning building with dead people everywhere.
This is easily one of my favorite RDR2 missions because of how great the dialogues between the characters during the cutscene is and how beautiful the mission is.
That’s what I’m saying. She’s super manic that her entire life just got ended within a few minutes, the death of her family and business I don’t blame her running back into the mansion after all that. Still a very powerful scene that gives me goosebumps to this day
“If you ain’t gonna be civilized about this.” Proceeds to gun down an army’s worth of goons, a woman’s children, burns down her mansion, and takes on the Italian mafia to get back a kid that isn’t even his.
Vladimir Lestrad Well, that's kind of the point of the line. They weren't going to be civilized so they will neither. Although it also shows Dutch's hypocrisy as he despises civilization.
I love the contrast of this with the overall tone of the story. Civilization is wiping out the outlaw way of life, putting them on the run. When Dutch and Gareth are parlaying, Dutch’s final line before firing is “if you ain’t gonna be civilized about this….” and then he handles it like an outlaw.
Seeing how powerful the gang was when everyone trusted each other and truly ran as one unit, really shows how much of a negative effect Micah was. Crazy that all it took him was 5 months to blow up years of built trust.
Yup, Braithwaites had no idea how badly they f'd up. Van Der Linde Gang walked through all of them and didn't have one single casualty. They weren't even at full strength with Sean gone and the Calendar boys missing, and apparently the Calendar boys were mean mofos. Epic.
8:42 If you try to imagine this moment in real time rather than in deadeye, that is an insanely fast shot. Arthur was as quick as any gunslinger there ever was
@@antonhallergren588 yes but John does proving Arthur is the better shot outta the two especially when talking about how he is hipfiring or possibly doing it with rifles
@@Popcorn-ch7uy not really and the closing one eye thing is only with sniper rifles. But Arthur is the better shot. You can look this up yourself but when firing a firearm with no sniper scope or something similar you keep both eyes open. It is to keep you fully aware of your surroundings
Try aiming down sights next time you're on the range and don't close your eyes. You can focus on what your dominant eye sees and use that to aim without closing the other. Takes practice, and for some it's instinctual, but it doesn't necessarily make you more/less accurate. But it does make you far more aware.
Climax of the story. Hands down the climax. Best mission in the game. When everyone possed up and the drums started playing you just knew shit was about to go down.
And you felt so much for the boy. You took him fishing and he was just so not aware of his situation. He didnt deserve being taken and you knew that...and it made you angry. I wanted to kill everyone in that fucking house. Great mission.
3:35: I love the positioning of the characters as they start walking up. On Arthur's right, those he trusts with his life - Hosea, John, Charles and Lenny (would all be on his side in the end) On his left, those who go rogue in the first game - Dutch, Bill and Javier Then when he walks into the line, right in the middle is the Old Guard - Arthur, Dutch, John and Hosea.
Arthur was the muscle of the group. Everyone went to him if they needed a problem fixed Hosea was the moral compass of the group people went to him to if the needed someone to talk to Dutch the brains he kept everyone in check
@@SPACEHARICE You got Dutch and Hosea mixed up. Dutch would've been a moral compass since he prevented the gang from falling apart way up until chapter 6. If you did the bank heist in Saint Denis you would've seen Hosea planning the heist all out with Dutch.

Video games can be some of the most impactful art. It is the only medium that allows for audience input, and that can be very effective. I think games have only scratched the surface of artistic intent, but this is very well done.
This was the most bad ass moment I ever experienced in any video game. The approach. The assault. The emotion. Hate and vengeance. That lady got PRECISELY what was coming to her for taking little Jack. It is perfect.
This was not designed to be "badass" or "rightful" you idiot, lmao I can't believe how many people miss the entire point of this game, you're equally as cruel as her in this scene if not maybe even more. IT IS IN THE NAME FFS, "Red Dead Redemption" and how do you think both main characters end up in the first and second game? Do you think they got happy endings? Because they didn't. "Lady got precisely what was coming to her" yeah and the characters from RDR1 and RDR2 did too, because that's the freaking point, you're not any better than the "antagonists", even the characters constantly admit they are horrible human beings despite trying their best. I can't believe the stupidity of people who can't even understand a story they so fanatically praise omfg. It's like reading a philosophy book, not understand sht but still claiming it's a masterpiece, though you missed the entire point. Holy fuck. I wouldn't be surprised if the author of said book would slap you for being so unbelievably moronic out of sheer frustration.
Everything about this mission is simply amazing. The drum beating as they ride through the forest, the vocal piece as they approach the mansion, and the moon in the background. So subtle yet hauntingly majestic. True masterpiece!
@@justmax1834 In RDR1, he was a savage killer just as bad as Micah Bell, he murdered men and raped women for kicks. But here, 12 years before RDR1, he is simply a rough outlaw who has a heart, as he is clearly apalled by the Braithwaites kidnapping a child.
See how well the gang moves w/o Micah? He really was their downfall, From the ferry job in Blackwater to the train heist the crew would've BEEN in Tahiti if they just let Micah swing
The best Micah moment though is when he starts telling Charles to get him something to eat and Charles just tosses the bitch on the ground and says “eat that”
Freaking Micah man. I’m trying my HARDEST to be an honorable person, and it’s probably harder in this one than in the original. But Micah. I swear he’s like 1890’s Trevor Philips. I felt like crap when I broke him out in Strawberry and he ended up shooting up half the town and gave me a $85 bounty. I can’t wait to see this bastard dead. And don’t spoil it for me people in the comment section.
He was a good man. I cant imagine the pain that his wife went through after the Saint Denis Bank Heist. Edit: I forgot that his wife died a year before 1899
This mission made me love Dutch, even after Arthur dies, I still consider him one of my favorite gang members. He didn’t want to turn on Arthur, he went crazy after Hosea died and Micah influenced his decisions.
I agree. I can't hate Dutch, never could. He was just so scared to lose everything he held dear, and after Hosea died, all voice of reason died with him.
That shot of the gang walking up to the manor, with the dark grey sky and the orange lights of the house glowing, is one of the most badass things I’ve ever seen
2:35…the thundering stomping of the hooves. The exact sound an old school army would make when charging towards the enemy. These men were on their way to war and they all knew it.
Alex Barrios well you‘d lose your shit too, if you see the woman you love die TWICE and think that one of them betrayed you and you have to keep running from the modern world that tries to destroy you and everything you stand for. Also Dutch is by far the most intelligent and educated in the gang so I guess he worries more than others and is more likely to get depression and such. In the end he is a broken man and nobody should hate him for that.
I think Micah was the rat all along and probably even made miss O'Shea snitch to try and plant more distrust. Think about it why would he as soon as they got to Strawberry start some shit. Actively causing trouble and chaos which would help the Pinkertons know where to look
One thing I absolutely love about this mission is the first gunshots are from Dutch, and from the looks of it he uses deadeye like john and Arthur can. How fast and fluid he pulls out his revolvers and guns down like 3 people in a fraction of a sec and doesn't run for cover but just walks makes me wonder how he fought in his prime and if the skills arthur and john have are all thanks to dutch teaching them.
You know what's weird though unlike Arthur John has to lean over when he shoots, this is due to the fact that his I was damaged by the wolves and is no longer in use due to his blindness so he has to use his good eye to shoot
My headcanon is every “soldier” in the gang has a deadeye-like ability, it just simply isn’t *as good* as Arthur’s or John’s where they can focus on up to like 10 people at once
Deadeye isn’t an ability, it’s just to show how fast Arthur and the gang are. also Dutch was only 44 at the time so he definitely was capable of raising hell
Yes, and I feel next red dead should be another prequel where Dutch is in his prime and helping these people and build a community. Actually when he was sane and caring for his gang. Would be crazy
5:04 when he said that I got chills like crazy when I first played this mission. Rockstar is the Quentin Tarantino of the game industry. This mission is amazing and so well put together it immerses you so deeply and I love this game for that.
Might be the best mission in any game I've ever played. You can tell Rockstar knew they had something good with this one. The ride there as the music builds and the gang lamenting on their failures before putting all aside and working together as a collective unit to get that boy back. The iconic walk up as the camera shifts away from Arthur making it clear this is bigger than him, before Dutch has his finest moment in the game, standing unshaken infront of countless Braithewaites and slaughtering all of them and charging into the Manor and ordering it to be burnt down when it becomes clear Jack isn't there. S tier.

SpidyxKenshin - poor Mac, poor Davey, poor Sadie, poor Sean and poor the rest of the goddamn gang
The gang from before Micah joined would have been incredible.
Dutch
Hosea
Arthur
John
Lenny
Charles
Javier
Bill
Callander Boys
Sean
gotta make it cinematic
@@luke8801 Umm i think Lenny and Charles both joined after Micah did.So before Micah means no Lenny, no Charles
@@luke8801 Don’t forget Uncle and all of the women.
"John, I need you to stay calm" Dutch 10 seconds later: 4:07
Notice how this was one of the few times everything went smooth for the gang. And who was not there to fuck it all up.
The rodent
@@88s68 Rattus norvegicus
I think Micah was the rat all along and probably even made miss O'Shea snitch to try and plant more distrust. Think about it why would he as soon as they got to Strawberry start some shit. Actively causing trouble and chaos which would help the Pinkertons know where to look

Factsssss
“If you ain’t gonna be civilized about this” is favorite quote from Dutch
When Hosea straps up and marches on the front lines, you KNOW you've effed up!
Gangsta
Thug
Imagine if in rdr3 we can play as a young Dutch you can just dead eye all your enemies in style
Tru as fuck bruh
Like Django Unchained & H8tful Eight.
Ellis Craddock exactly. 👌🏻
@@xBen_III amen to that
I always thought Tarantino should experiment with the game industry. Kill Bill is basically a live-action video game.
S tier.
The game needed more moments of running with the whole gang like this.
This has to be my favorite mission I ever did.
Factsssss
well that gang was a little selfish so they can't all go out unless it's for the children lol. idk
Just goes to show that Dutch’s gang was a cut above the rest by far. Take notes O’driscolls
aratholie.G1.5 and hosea too
Gage Drew probably because they were a kinda diverse group, they’re differences made them stronger?
Dutch Van Der Linde must have been the most badass character in this sequence. “Well if you ain’t gonna be civilized about this...”, starts shooting the Braithwaite woman’s sons.
mohmed eldeeb that’s what they get for killing Sean
@@chilledgames1348 the grays killed Sean, not the Braithwaits.
Axel Müller they both teamed up
Chilled Games no
Chilled Games The grays only killed Sean because it was a set up by the Grays, Bill got fooled so Sean ended up getting shot in the head by the G R A Y S
10:00 The ending of this mission is legendary. I can’t believe how incredible this was
