ARINC 429 is used because the PLAAF is regulatorily integrated into the civilian aviation network. Traditionally all Chinese aviation assets have been state-owned and dual-use, but dual-use cuts both ways. Just like how the airlines must make their aircraft available for the military to use, PLAAF also had to make their transport and cargo planes (and some special planes, like maritime patrol) available to the Chinese civilian aviation authority. A good example would be all the military transport planes used to transport volunteers to Wuhan at the start of the pandemic. Since all the military utility planes use ARINC 429, so do all the combat planes by extension. That said, the PLAAF does have their own digital databus and standards for their internal use.
Really like this channel and the videos, everyone is focused on the common interest in the airplanes and not on the politics. We have learned a lot about the planes here!
I was thinking that since China produces a great variety of electronic products for civilian use, Arinc 429 parts might already be available in the parts bin.
Maybe the use of ARINC is related to the export potential of the airframe? Using both an international standard and a civilian one at that, would make it very easy for any potential customer to access the skilled labor needed to maintain the systems. Maybe it also allows for the certification of non-Chinese inventory to be more easily certified, not a problem China has to deal with, but the other user of the J10 Pakistan, which has extensive amounts of French and US munitions, might find very useful. But this is pure speculation.
It is much much better than anything in Russian fleet which is operation... For example SU35 offer PESA radar which is an older technology while J10C offers an AESA radar which is a lot more advanced.
Compared with the French Rafale, the J-10c still has a certain gap, mainly because the Rafale body is larger and can accommodate more electronic equipment, but the French Rafale head is too small, which limits the diameter of the radar and affects the performance of the Rafale radar. The French Rafale The Meteor air-to-air missile is definitely not as good as the J-10's Thunderbolt 15, which has a range of about 300 kilometers.
that’s not true 300km is too much and rather useless! at that range the target could easily outmaneuver it! most fox 3 missiles are engaging under 70km even though they have 2 times more as their total range

Very useful and informative video thanks. To your knowledge are the J10 -CEs, specifically those that have recently been inducted by the PAF (first export order and operator of this aircraft) equipped with the WS10 thrust vectoring variant engine?
I’m no expert. All I know is J10C, with its superior maneuvering capability and avi electronics with AESA diameter bigger than that of Rafael and PL15 and PL10 long range and middle range missiles, has won the Chinese Air Force Golden Helmet competition by beating J16, SU35, J11B 4-4.5G fighters. I don’t think J20 was part of that competition.
J20 is not supposed to "out-maneuver" fighters , the J20 (like an F22) are actually Interceptors and infiltration bombers, mostly for defense purposes rather than offense. They are supposed to not be detected from a long range but to detect and engage at a long range without engaging in a dogfight

Can you talk about radars and how they can be used offensively in detail sometime. Its been mentioned in passing how powerful they are but i have never seen anyone really get into it.
J-10C's radar has never been disclosed, and is definitely NOT KLJ-7A. KLJ-7A is an export radar installed on JF-17 block 3s. There is only 1 photo from a far distance showing the J-10C with its radar dome removed and having its radar exposed, and its shape looked different from that of KLJ-7A.
I wonder how many they can produce on a monthly basis. A high output together with the, theoretical, huge pilot pool of a billion people population could make the "quantity is a quality of its own" approach a reasonable option. And, unlike Russia, they should be able to produce the needed high tech electronic components by themselves.
First of all he got tha radar wrong that radar is installed on jf-17 not j-10c. plus modren missile uses its own radars they only need guidence at initial stage. Later they switch on to their own radars and that is when they are independent. They do this to avoid enemies MAWS. Third yoh dont need to have long term range radars to fire long range missiles. Even the JF17 block3 costs more than that Second, any of Euro fighters, like rafale or J16V or Typhone, which are comparable to J10C, costs more than $100m and they are not necessary better than J10C, maybe Rafale is slightly better, but given how much India AF spend of Rafale, i really doubt Iron can afford that and still buy sufficient amount

@@appa609 Yes, I understand what their function is, I was just wondering why a canarded delta would need them. The Mirage 2000, the Rafale and Typhoon do just fine without them. On the F-16 they also aided stability at high speed.
The habits of Chinese designers are a little different from those of European designers. They continue the "high-altitude, high-speed" interception performance of the second-generation aircraft, so Chinese-designed aircraft emphasize high-speed performance (except for fc17, because it is designed according to Pakistan's needs) ), so you will see that the vertical tails of the Chinese battles are very huge and have ventral fins
Therefore, it is suggested that the Pakistani air force should not continue the habit of f16 and fc17 after obtaining the j10, try to avoid dogfighting with the opponent, but use high-speed performance, use the best radar, launch missiles at the longest distance and then leave the battlefield.
American war machine is very big compared to others, I would still prefer an F16 over Rafale or J10. Chinese war machine is also very big compared to France or Sweden. I would prefer Chinese J10 over expensive Rafale or Gripen.

That said, the PLAAF does have their own digital databus and standards for their internal use.
otis would have gotten you the complete info of the chinese radar because of his relationship with the vending machine in the J10 development office

Arinc 429 has been around for a long time. As such it is well understood, with a large installed base of equipment.
I was thinking that since China produces a great variety of electronic products for civilian use, Arinc 429 parts might already be available in the parts bin.
Another awesome video with 80s intro and music
Very interesting. Looking forward to the next episode.
Pakistan has received 2-3 of these birds with the order following 25 confirmed aircraft, which will be delivered in the coming months.

From my understanding, if China is willing to export it, they are pretty confident of it. Due to this kind of logic, J10C may not be inferior to Dassault Rafale, if not better.

Oh yeah.. a stolen legacy tech, re-engineered decommissioned Israeli model.. is far superior than the modern SU-57 and F-35.. if not F-22. 👍
If you want something said, ask India.
If you want something done, ask China.
- Maitreya Bhakal 🤭👈
J20 is not supposed to "out-maneuver" fighters , the J20 (like an F22) are actually Interceptors and infiltration bombers, mostly for defense purposes rather than offense. They are supposed to not be detected from a long range but to detect and engage at a long range without engaging in a dogfight
@@EzraMerr Well, at least you know your topic unlike this Indian guy who mentioned those models where C2Y did not compare. C2Y guy only mentioned SU35 not SU57 or F22. 🤭👈

It is interesting that Israel doesn't have to design their own aircrafts because everything they need can be bought from America. J-10C is better than Suhkoi only in mid-range fight and low speed swifting, and it is also a good choice for Pakistan to replace their cheap JF-17.

And, unlike Russia, they should be able to produce the needed high tech electronic components by themselves.
Radar Range 170km for 4sqm
Missile range 300km
And then they argue that Pl-15 can kill anything at 300km
First of all he got tha radar wrong that radar is installed on jf-17 not j-10c.
plus modren missile uses its own radars they only need guidence at initial stage. Later they switch on to their own radars and that is when they are independent. They do this to avoid enemies MAWS.
Third yoh dont need to have long term range radars to fire long range missiles. Awacs can provide guidance.
@@munnumkhalid I have seen many Pakistanis claiming Pl-15 can kill anything @300km

The data link is literately called "Link".
Delta wing, close-coupled canards and the J-10 still requires ventral fins. Hmmm.
It helps with yaw stability at high AoA
