Oddly, I actually like the looks of this MPV. It looks futuristic while also being toned down at the same time. It’s not forcibly overstyled like how other manufacturers make their hybrid/electric cars. I think it’s rather attractive for what it is.

Did you know the Staria has true 50/50 4X4? You could take this van across the Simpson Desert if you wanted no problems.
I'm considering it for the 4x4 capability. It's the only 4x4 van on the new car market as I'm aware. All other alternatives are either AWD, 4-motion and any other name referring to AWD. The Staria has AWD but also a center diff lock too for true 50/50 4X4. Just needs a lift and suitable tyres before taking it on some outback adventures.
This can be a capable AWD lifted campervan!
I am a new owner..... and i love how the car handles on bad road...... its firm... and i love the space inside.... i dont mind the robust and cheap plastic in mind as its a family car with kids in mind....
Far better and more practical than any suv plus awd

It's bigger and heavier than the old Santa Fe and Carnival but Hyundai detuned this compared to those. Why? Will it provide better economy? I doubt it will with its weight and lack of power.

Dunno what the hell is going on lately. Even with the new Tucson 1.6T it has the same torque yet it's detuned from 150 to 132kw. wtf.

3 seater/5 seater van models are FWD only and have solid axle/leaf springs in the rear currently in Korea, so yes.
Would love to see a comparison between the LDV G10 Executive and the Staria...then try and justify the 30K difference in price!

Rip starix and hello staria fun fact the starex was Rear wheel drive while the staria is front wheel drive is like a hyundai version of the kia carnival and staria design is more futuristic than starex.

So the same 2.2L in the Sorrento, Santa Fe, etc..... Yet it makes an insulting 130kw & 430nm ?, jesus what an embarrassment.
Others make 147kw+ & 447nn+
This is the older R series engine. Those have the newer Smartstream. So it's not really the same engine. Different compression ratio, different injection, lighter aluminium block etc. But yes, we agree, this should get the newer/more powerful unit too.
@@PDriveTV Lets be real, the 2nd gen Santa Fe (CM) was still more power & torque. I think they sat around 145kw/435nm even back in 2011 😂

Once you get past the novelty of the design and looks you end up with a slow and loud Tupperware box. Fill it up with passengers and some gear and you have the performance of a 50cc scooter. Handling and ride are 2 star at best.
Based on my painful experience after driving a rental.
Was the one you tried the diesel or the petrol ?
Gee I had a rental Staria to drive around Tasmania for 15 days. Four adults and plenty of luggage. Handling and ride is quite good for a people mover. The engine does lack, especially when overtaking at speed. It is noisy inside. Found it was OK on mountain roads. I'd say it is fit for purpose.

70K for top spec Staria and no front nor 2nd row armrests!! WTF??....the previous and much cheaper iMax had both..?? Even the LDV G10 Executive at 40k drive away has both. Hyundai OZ are ripping off the hard earned Aussie buyer...Even the overseas models have said armrests!

Thats right. Forget trying to overtake a truck on the highway. And emergency stopping was pretty bad too.

Thats really bad performance. Badly underpowered for the weight. Imagine with an extra 600kgs of humans. 0 to 100 would be 20 seconds and no overtaking. Emergency stopping... Well, you wont be stopping. Nice car otherwise.
This guys voice is so uninspiring. Can someone else do the voiceovers without it being so scripted? Bit of enthusiasm needed mate!!!
Appreciate the feedback. You’re right, it is totally scripted. We do these videos mainly for the 0-100 and engine sounds - that’s what we specialise in. The rest is just for basic background on the car and to keep the manufacturers happy. We’ll try to get more excited in the future :)
