    I like this slightly different review format. It felt very relaxed, and one gets that the Nikon D60 is a nice camera even without focusing on the specs. Also, I loved the choice of music for the soundtrack, especially the bit that starts at 3:32. Keep up the usual good work!

    The D60 was my first DSLR. I have a lot of fond memories with it. If I remember right, the D60 was the first camera to have the Active D-Lighting, or at least the first consumer model to feature that which might explain why the dynamic range is so good. What a great little camera that was.

    I still use my D60 that I bought new in 2008. I’ve gone through two 5Ds and most recently a D850. Now I just have the D60 haha. I like the CCD look, which now seems retro fashionable. It still takes great pictures and outclasses my iPhone 13 Pro. Nice snaps here in this video. Thanks for bringing attention to the modest D60.

    I have a D60. I use it as a knock around camera. It's compact and takes great photos. If something happens to it I won't be upset for long. At this point they're dirt cheap.

      I bought this camera about 4 months ago and didn't use it often because the photos are quite blurred. Do you think, it is because of the lens or maybe my skill (I'm completely a beginner)

    That was fun: a walk around camera *and* a walk around lens. Suggestion: you might get a bit more traffic if you mentioned the lens used in the video title. It can be hard finding info on older, cheap zooms. I'm actually looking for a superzoom for my D50 at the moment, so this video was unexpectedly useful.

      Will do, thanks! And yeah, it’s the Tamron 18-250mm f3.5 - 6.3. It looks like KEH currently has one in Nikon mount for $126.

    Thanks! Loved the pics you took on walkabout with the NIKON D60! Mine has been sitting in the corner, all but forgotten. Sadly a CANON turned my head and the NIKON has been there, patiently waiting. Thanks for this review! Off I go, with a lunch date with the NIKON around my neighborhood!! 👍🏼🤞🏼😁

      Yes mainly because of the buffer rate. I resserres my D60 so it saves instantly but depending on if you short raw of JPG, the buffer has a limit before it slows down a lot.

    whats unique about these older cameras which i buy all the time as well just like you do. Almost any person you take a picture of, or video, or what ever your doing, the pictures will always look great. About 90 percent of people are happy with photos on their smart phones unless they are pro model for a magazine or fashion exhibit. photos taking by cameras like these will always look amazing. I think people are always upgrading camera bodies simply because of the marketing strategy. 2000 af points shoots 25 fps latest mirrorless image , shoots 200 fps in slow motion. iso of 10,000,000 has a 200 megapixel hyper data self image auto correct idact c-data sensor , Ok i made that up. and blah blah blah and its only 8000 dollars and so forth. and they lose focus of what any of these cameras do well. people get caught of the latest bells and whistles like going mirrorless and forget the most important aspect and thats to simply take great photos if the camera is set up properly. All of the older cameras do that well. Yes I know some autofocus and some features are limited on older cameras but most people take single shot photos anyway.

      It's all about composition - your own visual creativity. Not A.I., not 9355548 Features, noone, nobody ever does need. Literally, every DSLR since the D100/EOS 10D is good enough, if into the right hands. Forum discussions from GearHeads, Freak Shows about +/- 0.5 EV would see nobody, for real...only measure-able, not visible into real life photography.
      People became such freaks in terms of their gear - that they've forgotten the most important thing - the 12 inch behind the camera, as Ansel Adams used to say. Into that term, spot on.

    That’s a great tip on the used for parts component. I will confess I’ve always been scared off by those listings but of course I do extensive reading at the listing and I’m sure there’s a good number of cameras that I’ve missed out on as a result of not taking the gamble. When we’re talking $15 what’s at stake really? :P can’t wait to see your E300 review!

      I paid $60 for a Canon 1D on eBay, it said the CF card slot didn't work. I got it, put a CF card in it and it worked perfect so, you never know.

    • @steve_heise
      @steve_heise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The “for parts” listings always make me a little nervous but I’ve gotten really lucky so far. I think $100 is as high as I’ll go when it comes to these. Oh plus, I forgot to mention - the Nikon D60 was being sold by the Arizona Humane Society and was listed as “benefits charity”, so I felt good about donating in case the camera didn’t actually work. Lol

    • @marcp.1752
      @marcp.1752 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jimdabomb Just be happy ! But be *very* careful with "for parts" cameras, into your case, it could happen very easily, that one of the CF Pins inside the CF compartment is being bent, or even missing, etc...than you're out of luck.

      Buy a 50mm 1.8G and you will be able to shoot amazing portraits ! The D60 has a CCD sensor that is amazing for rendering film-like colors and skin tones but it’s not ment to shoot in low light so you need to keep your iso between 100 and 400 iso max

    • @danieldue6090

    • @etienneamien

      @@danieldue6090 for low light photography you may also purchase a small popup flash diffuser (the same as Gary fong’s one) that attaches to your flash grip with the diffuser placed right in front of your pop up flash. Keep the iso between 400 and 800 and leave the flash in automatic mode. Combined with any bright lens shot at F2 this will make beautiful party pictures too. It’s also great if you shoot agains the sub but in this case keep the iso at 100 or leave your camera in automatic mode by just forcing the pop up flash out.
