You have made my day! You answered the question that I had! It's now August! I have never pruned my 3 yr old apple trees! One fruited and the other did not! So afraid of hurting them! Thanks Scott!
Hey Scott 👋🏼 the music at the end was beautiful ❤ and good Info on trees Thankyou.I have only tried one tree in the past,a lemon I got from Home Depot and I ended up killing it first year lol haven’t bought another once since! Yours look really good though.
I pruned the peach trees like crazy! They almost doubled in size! I didn't get anything from any of my fruit trees this year, due to the late freeze... so I didn't feel guilty, lol😅
Same with my Blueberries, late frost burned the blossoms on 5 of my 6 bushes. The 1 Brightwell variety produced well. Fixing to give them all a haircut soon.
Thanks for sharing. I recently came across your channel. I'm in zone 9a Humble, TX. Your info really helps. As a fairly new gardener I appreciate how you😢 are sharing your knowledge. My citrus fruit trees came back after the freeze. I'm noticing that the trees are growing tall but the leaves are very small. Will it produce fruit?
Can you force those small branches to go out not up on your Apple? On my young fig I tired a small rock to the end to add weight so they grew out not up. Worked well, cheap too! Blessings!
I have a couple of questions to ask! #1. I have a Van Dwarf Cherry Tree they can grow to 20'. I have had it for about 4- 5 years now it is about 13' - 15' now. Can I still prune back to make it smaller, or is it too late and just try to keep it pruned back to the height where it is at know so it won't get any taller that is after I pick my cherries off of it that are ready to be picked right now? #2. I have either 2 Bosenberry or Mulberry trees growing in my yard. I can't tell the two apart that started growing out of nowhere and didn't really notice them until it was too late (a few yrs.) to try to replant them because of my neighbor's Apple Tree limbs hang really low in my yard over the fence and were hiding the berry trees. When we were going to cut them down we notice what kind of trees they were so left them alone! I really hate those apple trees the neighbor's planted them to close to the fence line and they don't take care of them and a lot of the apples end up in my yard making a mess for me to pick up!!! One of the trees is about 15' and the other is about 20'! I don't want to cut them down, but one of them is growing too close to the fence and in between the apple trees limbs and has to come down because it will eventually will break my fence between my neighbors yard asit grows and the other one is tilting over sideways into the neighbor's behind me yard because of the apple tree limbs are forcing it to grow that way! I want to know if I cut a few of branches off the tree and stick them in water will they grow roots so I can plant at least one of the branches? I always wanted this kind of tree because when I was renting a home in my mid 20's we had one growing on the property and we love eating them! Can you please answer these questions for me!
You can cut a vigorous vining tomato any time. It will bounce back. Cut how you like. As for the trees, I am not sure you can propagate mulberry trees by cuttings but you might try it anyway using moist soil. They do tend to grow well from seeds so you could harvest a mature bunch of fruits and start from seed. That's what I would do. Also, I'd talk to the neighbor and see if you both could come to a soulution about the trees so you preserve the fence and peace.
I'm NOT an expert. My thought for your tall thin tree was that you should have topped it. I would have figured that to be if utmost importance. Please check with someone you trust to be sure you were right.
Thanks for sharing. Happy Gardening 👨🏿🌾 💚

It really helps to see you being fairly brutal with the trees...I need to gather up my courage and get this done on my little apple and pear!
I never make time to prune but I need to this year! Great information!
Great video
Oh that was wonderful!
One of clearest pruning vids ever saw. THX

Summer pruning is great but I would wait until the week long of 100+ F weather to past first.
I need to look for a video from you for figs. My plants have grown a ton and I’m not sure what I should do with them.
I'm thinking that the best time to prune back my blueberry bushes in Central Louisiana is around August or September.
Great tips
Do you have a video on painting the trees
Yes: th-cam.com/video/zI-9csRra3k/w-d-xo.html

Yeah I have videos on that, I'll be training them with spacers in the branch crotch.
This type of pruning applies to all zones? Im in SW Texas, zone 8. Our heat this year has been ridiculous 🥵. Should I prune during this heat?
My question as well!
Do you have a video on how detour deer...my little apple tree leaves and flowers all gone😢
Sorry I don’t. We don’t have deer pressure.
My apple tree is struggling in this heat.
Mine is struggling from deer😢
When do you think is the best time to prune my 7 ft tall blueberry bushes, here in Central Louisiana? Thanks
I'm not sure about blueberries, I've never been able to get blueberries through even one season and don't like them much. Wish I could help.
Is this cutting this year's new growth or whatever?
Yes, this year's growth.
Do you prune citrus trees on big containers?
Folowing
Just for size when they start getting too large for the container. I keep the canopy about 1 and a half the size of the pot.
Would you do the same on a fruit tree is that baring fruit?
Yes, it doesn't matter if it has fruit or not.
i have been arguing with my hubby that winter is the only time to prune. now i got to eat crow😂🤦🏾♀️

What about Japanese beetles? I haven't needed to prune because they eat all the foliage off my fruit trees!
I hate those things. Got to spray for them.
@@ScottHead what spray do you recommend?
