I have to say thank you! Because of watching this video I knew Dedham pottery when I saw it. Stopped at a yard sale this morning and came upon two small Dedham lamps with the rabbits and they were a $1 each 😊 They may not be worth as much as the plates but I know that I can get more than a dollar for them.
I personally, really appreciate your vulnerability about being overwhelmed with the business. I have been struggling with my pile of inventory in my attic and getting it listed and you have been my inspiration since the beginning. These videos in the shop are the push I was needing! Thanks girl! ❤️
Just because your original business plan was based on a $4 base and it was profitable then, your business has grown and you’re purchasing higher end pieces now. Changing your business model to fit your needs is expected. Your savvy is impressive! My super powers are sales, organizing, and visuals. Everything I’ve learned from your videos gave me the idea, knowledge, and guts to take the plunge when my 37 years in retail mgmnt came to an abrupt end from Covid bankruptcy. Who knew that six months before retirement age I could start a new career. I thank you for that with all my heart. I’ve met George, Misty, and Michael…maybe this year you!
You're allowed to break your own rules. I would list it closer to retail. The true collectors will pay if they want it. I've sold antique jewelry for years and I've been taking break from selling for the last year. I've been through many ups and downs in the market. The good pieces will sell. If not, hold back on it. The right buyer will show up.
I am so sorry the economy is scary. Especially scary for those in retail. I feel people are going to have to make choices. Thanks for sharing your videos with us.
I love your energy so much. I can understand your feeling of being overwhelmed, you have so much to do. A business, two houses, three chidren, an adoring life partner, shopping for inventory, auctions and the list goes on. I was burning the candle at both ends when I was your age and it took a toll on me as I aged. Enjoy your wonderful life. You have it all. I am so happy for the love in your life and so much support💖
We had some rental properties and they were great income for us. It took some work but much easier than an air bnb would be. You guys are young and can do it. Especially since you know the family and they are good people. Good luck!
I have learned so much from you Everytime im out in the wild and find a piece that you find and show i smile and think about you.Im glad you have a nice couple to rent your home.Adleast you know they are decent and help with the kids. Thanks for being honest and sharing your experience with us.
I used to have a rental property. The house was in Troutdale, OR & I was living in Santa Barbara, CA. I was very blessed to have my father who helped me with any maintenance. I was also very lucky & got a really good renter, a young family with a toddler & a baby. They were wonderful. They treated my house like it was their own & stayed in it for almost 3 years (& they were never late on rent!). I think rentals can work very well if you find someone that you can trust & you have a good feeling about them. It sounds like you have found both. I wish you nothing but the best in your journey! Stay safe & well & thank you for your wonderful videos. I look forward to them everyday!
My friend bought a condo many years ago & started renting it out when she married. She's had great renters for at least 15 years. If you've got great people....I would try it. Good luck!
Your doing a great job Jocelyn! Seriously! Hang in there. You have a full plate to say the least including all the videos you still put out for all of us to see. Your amazing at what you do and we appreciate it all. Good and bad days we are here. Enjoy some quiet time to recharge with your wonderful family. You deserve it! Sending virtual hugs for all of you!
You're doing great! Remember one day or even one minute at a time. Always give yourself a little time to just decompress & love on your new sweet baby. It will help. I'm just a loving fan that only wants the best for you & your lovely family.
I've been trying to declutter, which has only added to my inventory. Sometimes I'm so overwhelmed I just sit staring at my laptop and do nothing but watch videos. Not very productive but sometimes we need to take a break from life.
Here's an idea I got from my musician husband who sells his equipment on eBay and then buys more...offer free shipping on the BIN small items. There's something about giving free shipping that makes people want it more. All buyers want to think they're getting a deal. Just a thought 💜💙💚💛🧡
Consider teaching Shelby to list as well. She will be able to keep the inventory more balanced by helping to eliminate a bottleneck. You would still be able to determine pricing and method of sale. Of course you know your exact situation the best. Learning every possible aspect in a business makes a more interested and valuable team member. You might not find yourself playing catch up and actually process more orders in the end. Enough back seat driving from me. Congratulations on your sweet little family.
I really admire your outlook and willingness to share your life with us. You are truly amazing and get so much more done than most of us who don’t have a newborn! Keep up the great attitude…it makes a huge difference! ❤️
Andrew Wyeth painted Christina's World (the girl in the field) but his wife and son also painted. Check out Brandywine River Museum to see a lot of the originals
Thank-you for sharing the "work" and "worries" part of your days as well as the acquisition (fun) stuff. It sounds like the renters you are considering for your other house would be great and let you breathe easy for a bit while you focus on other "fires" at hand. We had renters once who sold all our appliances, yet the judge found in their favor when they took us to court for retaining their small deposit, so you do need a degree of wariness. You're getting things done and for that I applaud you! Your life is hectic and wonderful and keeping you and Drew busy; good luck, stay well, and thank-you for sharing your family's life with all of us 🧐😎😍
After waffling about what to do with the "money pit" house, I would consider it "divine intervention" that you have prospective tenants that you know and trust right under your nose and from within your tight church community. If you are not ready to cut ties with the property then what better than to help out another young family!!
I love that you’re going to rent your youth or assistant pastor. That’s definitely an answer to a “prayer need”!! Jos’, don’t let your “GINORMOUS” stacks of “treasures” overwhelm you!! Approach them just the way you did in this “accountability” video. In your allotted amount of time do what you can and don’t stress because YOU will get through each shelf and clear each table in a “timely manner”! (I find that inserting a prayer asking for guidance in managing to accomplish a particular goal makes it easier to accomplish! No doubt, as a PK, you know this! 😉🙏) BTW: You do an amaZing job with “time management” especially NOW with you added “helper”, Laurel!! 😁 I wasn’t aware of your plan for yesterday!😢 Did you have an on line auction? If so, sorry I missed it and hope to attend the next!!
Great fun at the store. Thank you for the lesson on the dish ware So happy you are making progress on the money pit house. Please Stay Safe, Happy And Healthy. Have A Wonderful Day
I just started catching you approx. 7 mos. ago .. I wrote you a couple/or3/or4 weeks ago telling you how inspiring u r to me after my husband died 10 yrs ago .. I just want u to know that I think u r AMAZING .. @@stewartnelson5142 What??? She offered good advice. It's a great way to distinguish original art, like a painting or sketch, from a print, which is produced in multiples.
They sound like perfect tenants. As long as you live relatively close by the property so it can be checked on. I have a hard time with my rental property, which is my dads old Homeplace, cause it’s 2 1/2 hours away from me. Very difficult to check on tenants. So frustrating.
Perhaps time to let go of the $4.00 opening bid for the better items. It worked in a booming economy, but as you noted, circumstances have changed. I am self employed; it's challenging, but sometimes necessary to deep six a formula that is no longer successful.
No one can have too much Pyrex! (Actually I sold some miscellaneous pieces this week.) And I thought you said Denim pottery. 😂 Then you showed us the front of the book. And I do enjoy seeing that type of thing. Such a good resource. Lastly, maybe cut your buying back by half until you can sell a lot of what you already have? Then you can move forward without as much inventory. (I so need to take my own advice.) 😮 Have a great Sunday.
You have so many nice things Jocelyn, I hope that you get top dollar for everything. What you have decided to do with the house is a good thing. I hope you guys have a wonderful night. HUGS!!!! Take care!
Wow, there is so much money just piled high...please get someone to organize your shop. Especially now you have the baby...you definitely need the help. Love your videos
Great job going through stuff! Yikes, so much. Thought? What if you set up the whole place with shelving? Like a library? You could offload so much easier and view what you've got going on. Put things in categories. Research, photo, clean, list, to the Shop. Etc etc. It would be work to get them set up but would help in the long run? Ikea shelving maybe? I'm sure you and Andrew know sources for cheap but sturdy shelving.
I was yelling Andrew Wyeth as loud as I could but you didn't seem to hear me... fortunately, you turned the painting over and there it was... lol... also, when I lived in Massachusetts (for over 68 years), I would see Dedham pottery at almost every antique store, but now that I live in NC, I have never once seen it down here... apparently, it doesn't travel well... there's definitely a liver on your organ vase...
I use paper plates between stacked plates. Even with stored china. It makes a huge difference in the long run and short term as well. We don't always stop and think about every little thing though.
I use napkins in between my plated - you can get them cheaply, they come in every size and color, and then when they stop looking nice you can use them to clean off your counter 😆
Hi Jocelyn. Make a list of the things you want to do then in the evening cross off the things you have done and you will be amazed at how much you have done. The things you could not do goes on the next days list. Take one day at a time you might not feel over whelmed so much. I know it has helped me alot.
Enjoy your life and you just got your baby new home the other children getting adjusted Andrew...people like seeing you shop but you have enough affection from your folders to watch you do anything, help with decorating.?.cooking dinner lol , clips about certain pieces like the dedman in this video...until the inventory is down and things are managed.....smell the roses. We are loyal fans 😆!
Really enjoy YOU and your videos. You are the best and really are a joy to watch. You are a great person. You may consider having an occasion video haul for those of us many viewers that ENJOY the paper crinkles and tapping, etc. lol That may open up your videos to be noticed by a whole brand-new audience and potential buyers. For those who don't like that they know to skip and watch another of your wonderful non asmr videos. Many blessings, take care.
EBay has been slow lately so I cross listed on other platforms that are performing better than expected. The booths have been paying off the past couple of weeks, knock on wood. Seems like there's a lot of $20 and below shoppers still buying online but the more expensive items just sit around. Did you say you paid $100 for all of it? You will definitely make some money on it. Did I miss something about Banana Box Antiques? Are there still plans to become a brick and mortar store? I know you have so much going on and definitely understand how being overwhelmed feels. Set your goals to be obtainable and remember you are number 1. Take care of your family. Sending ❤❤❤ to all.
I’m OVERWHELMED to say the least! I’ve only listed 3 items this year. Getting very overwhelmed at my barber shop I work 4 days a week. I’ve gotten my back porch hoarded up, my spare room, my trunk and the back room in the barber shop. YIKES! Bought a 8x18 shed…still setting in the driveway needing put together. I feel closed in with no room to do anything! I feel all of ya in trying to keep organized and on track with reselling.
Your decisions on the house sounds great. As long as you know the people the better care the house will be. I was explaining an air B&B and was shocked how cheap people could get one here and there. Discounts, $20 a night? I was thinking uh no, my house would be in ruins. It’s a thought.
Oh my love the pyrex bowls! I have been a sub since you started and I'm happy to see your picking up pieces in good condition. People need to understand not to but these bowls in the dishwasher. Many years ago I purchased a pink pyrex gooseberry set of 4 bowls in original box for forty dollars that looked brand new. I took a look at ebay and they sell for $350 plus now. Sometimes when I shop I buy memories if that makes any sense 😆 Great content and I wish I could come and help you with all the boxes and stuff. Take care🌻
A local antique shop put out a newsletter saying it is ok to put Pyrex bowls in the microwave too; they are soo wrong! Thanks for bringing up the damage that can be caused to them by dishwashers too; many sellers/ buyers are not aware. I grew up in that microwave era and used my mother's three set of Pyrex orange stacking bowls regularly as a kid. The medium orange bowl over time turned dull and no longer looked like it was even part of the set! So sad. I only wash my collectible dishes by hand but don't mind because I enjoy them so much and I am ensuring another generation can enjoy them too in good shape! So microwave to dishwasher; guaranteed over time the finishes on dishes and glasses are destroyed.
I ❤️ the painted trunk. Rather than the dark wood trunk. I would pick the painted trunk rather than the other. If things get too busy for you. Accept it & post when you are free. Having a baby is full on. We all understand!😘
I feel your pain. I too have a money pit house, 2 if you include the one I live in. Both my parents have passed, my Dad a year ago and what I found is my parents were hoarders. Very tidey hoarders but hoarders.none the less. I have discovered 5 complete dinnerware 5 full sets of cups 3 sets of cookware every greeting card they have received since they were married 52 years ago and Christmas houses. Last count was 25+ and 50 lighthouses. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Hub's and I have been married 33 years and have 33 years of our own stuff. It seems like it never ends. Good luck.
I tell you what, just seeing all that you have to do and all that you have gotten accomplished during this one video has made me tired. I do not know how you handle all the things you juggle all at once. Thank goodness you have Andrew and the others who help you juggle some of the things. I love watching and learning from you both.
I have an idea for the your money pit’s yard. There is a house in the country that we passed every once in awhile. They had a designated lawn area and then left the rest natural and with wild flowers mixed in. You have so much to mow. This might be a good solution.
My bedroom looks like your shop. It’s supposed to be a haven for me to relax in. Instead I have purchased so many treasures I don’t know where to put them all. I love them but now they are a burden. Silly what we do to ourselves. Take care Jocelyn. You are coming along nicely with everything you have going on❣️
OMG! I tend to be a little OCD and LOVE to organize pretty much anything! I was reading through the comments. I would suggest you and other sellers crash a meeting of OCD people! Most would love to get their hands on your shop. It would be a dream come true! I am sure you have a system and I love your videos. Thanks for sharing the process.
Hi, I love watching your videos.. it's like going to school. The Dedham is so beautiful, I would have looked at it but I knew NOTHING about it. Thank you for sharing your knowledge..
I believe the organ potterie body part looks like a stomach on the tall piece. The one with circles I think looks like blood cells. That's what came to mind.
Love to watch you shop for treasures..... with that being said.... by the looks of the shop..(warehouse).... I say go to town listing and bring in as much cash flow as possible because as you said yourself the economy is crazy right now with no relief insite !!! Really the only people that are buying are the ones that can really afford to splurge... due to the inflation not to mention the gas prices no matter where you live!!! Make the money while you can by selling all of your great treasures!!! Love your videos!!! Please include the kiddos in a near future video... 😊 Take care!!!
I still don’t know how you navigate with all that is going on in your life . I so admire you , right choice to rent out the money pit . It will give “worry free income for now and your helping a family . I’d call that a win win!
Thanks for the update videos! To some of us, they are both confirming and inspiring. I feel better about myself and the overwhelming-ness, knowing that I’m not alone in it and that even though it sucks to feel it, things can be gotten through with a positive outlook on it. Truly, genuinely, thank you for sharing ❤️
I live about a mile from where that Dedham Pottery was manufactured back in the day...very nice pieces! and I will give you kudos for pronouncing Dedham correctly! You don't know how many times I have been over the phone and the other person on the line recites my town as DEAD-HAM...lol
Thanks for sharing how you feel. That amount of inventory is overwhelming! But oh the treasures you have there. Will your shop become a retail space for customers to come in and buy things or is it purely intended to be a work/processing space?
Check out US Appliance, you can buy a package deal and it’s very reasonable. They will ship to you but you have to take inside and hook up…sure Drew could help. I’ve used them several times on my houses. Love your videos at your shop and would love to see all your items sitting around haha. When I unpack stuff, it’s always a surprise 🤣
I wish I lived near you to help you in the shop but me living in the Netherlands and not being very healthy, are not helping..😂But I would love to help if I could. Jocelyn, you have so much amazing stuff! So many beautiful things I would love to buy..but the shipping costs are ridiculous! I am glad you can help a young family with the money pitt house. And for the rest you should do what YOU want to do,it’s your life, not other people’s.🙏🏻🥰
I'm time stamp 730 when you picked up the swan plate there was a white chip from the plate on The cart I'm not sure from what plate but there is the white chip
Oh my goodness! When you were talking about the swan and slid the plate over, I cringed cause I thought I heard a snap and then there was a little piece of plate there! I hope not!! Those are awesome
Value. I bought a 30 year old mountain bike last week. Apparently everyone thinks I' m a cool guy now. The ladies are very friendly. The cyclist are like: what' s your bike!? I'm weirded out. It' s just a black retro bike. It's a decent bike. Slightly roughed up but mechanically okay. I don' t know where this thing is going to bring me. I have an Iphone 4 lying around here. Maybe I should make calls on my bike. I expect marriage proposals from the ladies.
Thank you for sharing that as when I am overwhelmed with my inventory…I escape the house by going shopping. 😩 Not a hoarder yet, but if I don’t stop…I could see my family calling the show in about 6 months time. 🤷🏻♀️ I worked on my stock yesterday and will do more today. Working on my booths at one store tomorrow to completely do a refresh. That should make me feel better. ❤️
I’ve never heard of this pottery. Love it because I love animals but wow I had no idea something would be so expensive. Pyrex also just is crazy to me how high they are. I learn so much from your channel. You find great items. Love the trunks. You amaze me how much you do.

That’s awful! Sure hope your business takes off like a bird and flys high for many moons.

And that art pottery is so COOL!!!
The Wyeth painting is titled, “Christina’s World”.
Yes inventory makes me feel overwhelmed too. Take care of yourself you are a busy momma!❤️
I suggest getting a loupe used for checking whether art pieces are originals or prints. If prints you will see tiny dots making up the image.
@@stewartnelson5142 What??? She offered good advice. It's a great way to distinguish original art, like a painting or sketch, from a print, which is produced in multiples.
Exactly. Very similar to the method for distinguishing hand painted porcelain from transferware.
She knows the difference. However it's hard to check when you buy paintings from online auctions😉
They did not make those Dedham pieces in great quantities which keeps the prices high because there is not enough of it to go around.

The Andrew Wyeth says dry brush. Have a gallery look at it for a price. I don't think that it's a print.
love working at the shop with you, be blessed all of you!
Jocelyn, Thank You for involving us in so many aspects of your life. Thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge and time with us.
If it were me I would list the Dedham a bit lower than what comps sold for with best offer. Like you said, it’s the economy.
When you lay the rare plates and bowls on top of each other can damage or leave scratchs please put papee in between..
Thank you Jocelyn! Your "money pit" house is your investment and renting it at this time is a wonderful decision!
I wish you weren’t so overwhelmed. You take care of you! We love you 😍
Really enjoy YOU and your videos.
I love the crinkling of the paper, the thrill of the hunt!💕
As someone with neuro issues, I watch those videos with closed captions. I don't want to miss anything. Lol.
I think you have the right idea. I’ve been told if you are going to auction, start it at the least you would take for it
You could also put a reserve on it that's close to your asking price. It won't sell until it reaches or passes the reserve.
Thank you for sharing your angst and methods you two use to determine moving you items.
Ive said it before and I’ll say it again… I love shop videos!
I was worried after no video yesterday😉
I’m OVERWHELMED to say the least! I’ve only listed 3 items this year. Getting very overwhelmed at my barber shop I work 4 days a week. I’ve gotten my back porch hoarded up, my spare room, my trunk and the back room in the barber shop. YIKES! Bought a 8x18 shed…still setting in the driveway needing put together. I feel closed in with no room to do anything! I feel all of ya in trying to keep organized and on track with reselling.
If you like the print, get it away from the cardboard backing. Cardboard is full of acid and will ruin a print faster than you’d jump on a glassybaby.
Lol. I took the jumping on a grouse baby literally and then I'm like duh. Lol. I love the comment section. Lol.
Your decisions on the house sounds great. As long as you know the people the better care the house will be. I was explaining an air B&B and was shocked how cheap people could get one here and there. Discounts, $20 a night? I was thinking uh no, my house would be in ruins. It’s a thought.

The bird quail plate does look a lot more like a grouse, but they are similar and belong to the game bird group.
Thanks for bringing up the damage that can be
caused to them by dishwashers too; many sellers/ buyers are not aware.
My worst month since I started 3 yrs ago. Visits to shop up. Sales down 40%! People are looking but not buying, or buying lower cost items.
I haven’t used eBay in years, but do they still do reserve prices on auctions? You could always do that.
Lots of people refuse the bid on reserve auctions. Its stupid.
Follow your gut CCL. It’s usually right! Great job getting stuff done. It can be so overwhelmed sometimes!
Yes start things at higher prices if need be. you dont want to be losing money.
I would start it high as you are willing to accept. Collectors for good pieces still have money...
You are coming along nicely with everything you have going on❣️
If you know and trust your renters? Go for it. IMHO.
Agree on stomach. Lol. That's the coolest crazy piece of pottery. I wanted to be a potter but I didnt have the guts. Lol.
At first I thought stomach, then liver... One or the other. Definetly thought cells for the small one - red blood cells are small and round.
I’d call that a win win!
you go girl!!! being and feeling over whelmed is normal especially when u juggling so much!!
Love seeing all the patterns of the Dedham Pottery. Thanks for showing us some.
Even a little bit of progress is progress. Makes you feel like you are accomplishing something 😊
Thanks for sharing!
Where do you go for live auction?
Yes we do get that way sometimes!
I live about a mile from where that Dedham Pottery was manufactured back in the day...very nice pieces! and I will give you kudos for pronouncing Dedham correctly! You don't know how many times I have been over the phone and the other person on the line recites my town as DEAD-HAM...lol
Congratulations 👏 I saw the quail plate sell for 2,000!
Thanks for sharing how you feel. That amount of inventory is overwhelming! But oh the treasures you have there. Will your shop become a retail space for customers to come in and buy things or is it purely intended to be a work/processing space?
Andrew Wyeth print yes! If it’s an original that’s awesome.
Shelving isn't expensive. I'd buy a few more shelving units so that things are kept safe.
The Dedham Pottery book sells for $40!
A lot of Loetz (pronounced Low-tz) pieces are not signed.
Oh my goodness! When you were talking about the swan and slid the plate over, I cringed cause I thought I heard a snap and then there was a little piece of plate there! I hope not!! Those are awesome
Oddly, I heard (I don't hear very well.) and saw that too. Old pottery like that is brittle.
That is so hilarious 🤣! I can't stop laughing 🤣! Thank you for making my evening beautiful!
😅
@@BBBang-s9q My pleasure!
Take care and get some rest! You have so much on your plate! Best wishes!
Thank you for sharing that as when I am overwhelmed with my inventory…I escape the house by going shopping. 😩
Not a hoarder yet, but if I don’t stop…I could see my family calling the show in about 6 months time. 🤷🏻♀️
I worked on my stock yesterday and will do more today.
