The station opened on October 19, 1971.

Es entbehrt doch nicht einer gewissen Ironie, daß der Spatenstich für den U-Bahn-Bau an einem Friedhof erfolgt ist 😁
Na ja, wenn man nicht genau hinsieht, könnte das Denkmal auch als Grabstein durchgehen. 😊
Der Nordfriedhof liegt allerdings am gegenüberliegenden Ein-/Ausgang. Und der U-Bahnhof sollte zum damaligen Zeitpunkt noch Schenkendorfstraße heißen, der Name wurde später geändert.
