if you are just starting out, please look back at the many other video's Chris has posted over the years. i like shorter stiffer rods on my divers and longer whippier rods on my riggers just me. you can luck out and leave the harbor and catch fish the first time, but there is a huge learning curve to overcome to be able to do it day after day. boat safety out on the big water is no joke if you're unsure take a charter get used to it check all weather reports and your boat before heading out. the strange thing is that for some that drag scream of a large king hit is something you will never forget. welcome to the world of silver fish angling.
Chris this your best video you have ever made...Been fishing lake Michigan for over 15 years and still enjoyed it. Quick informative video!! Perfect!!!
Really appreciate your honesty on what gear to use. Man if you could hook up w Lance Valentine you 2 could conquer the world ! Yours & his willingness to share info is off the charts !
Very good video Chris.. You should remind people of your old instructor videos and list at least one every week on your regular video. I'm sure there are lots of people that don't realize the knowledge and the fact that you have all the old videos. If you going to take a week off for some reason Play one of your old videos. I can remember I would watch the same video more than one time and it helped me a lot. TTYL ✌️
The okuma tournament series wire diver rods seem real nice so far, all stainless guides with a stainless, very well made, roller tip. Much more limber than previous roller rods that felt like broomsticks! 109 a piece at the local fishin store
What do you think about the new okuma stormrunner trolling reels? And by the way all of your videos are awesome and have helped me a great deal. Thank you so much for taking the time to do them..
Hey @marlin brubacher…. Ever thought of the Daiwa sealine?? Out of the box ready soon as the line gets spooled on them.. I have thought of going with Lima products several times but to think I have to tweak them a little before they get put in service keeps me sticking with the sealines all day.. pretty much the same price model for model too.. I also have a few diawa accudepth reels that work well too and they are a little cheaper than the sealines by about 20 bux per model
Cool video, to someone who is completely new to fishing a lot of the terminology and slang you use is confusing. Do you have a video where you explain all the parts that make up a fishing setup and what they're purpose is?
Thanks a bunch. I’m just getting into salmon/lake trout. Would these colors and sizes work for Lake Huron - Manitoulin area ? I know the green jeans took a big one for us last fall so I imagine the others would ??
Okuma cold water versus Penn squall ii? I settled on Penn squall ii on streamside wire rods for divers and now I gotta figure out what I’m doing for down riggers.. gonna stay with streamside rods down rigger rods but not sure on reels.. saltists are just a touch to rich for me! Looks like I’ll hafta choose between Coldwater and staying with more Penn squall reels!
@@tangledtacklefishing Thankyou sir! Got bitten by the bug over the last few years going out with friends and got sick of waiting on invites. Last fall the stars finally aligned to get a little boat and outfit it this winter…. First season in my own coming up! I live near Georgian bay and am planning on heading down to Lake Ontario some to!

Thank you! My plan is to do a complete series just like this covering all the basics and gear. Quick, simple and informative videos.

Thanks Phil! I’d love to do a collab with Lance someday.
Excellent video Chris !

Thank you for that. I haven’t used one yet so I don’t know anything about them unfortunately.

Just take a look on this channel. It’s full of helpful videos.

They are all excellent multi area presentations.
Caught many fish on white double glow slick always have 1 out.
Eric shippa owned the boat matt Doozan was driving
If rod size is a concern on smaller boats, what would you recommend for an 8'6" wire diver rod?
I'd still go with the 9ft. Okuma Convector Pro wire rod. A half a foot longer shouldn't make a difference.

Both are good reels but I’d give the nod to the Coldwaters. Whichever one you choose make sure to get the drags upgraded.

What's the difference using the 10'' Spin Doctor for meat rigs compared using an 8''? Thanks Chris Always enjoy your videos!!
Meat rigs are typically quite long and the 10" version imparts a little more action on them.
@@tangledtacklefishing Thanks Chris!!
Of course its kevin
