OMG that brown one is gorgeous… but I think I liked the tone of the cheap one a little better. Random pickup preference probably. I’ve been wanting to build a similar shape with vintage hot pickups… it’s my next thing when I can afford to make it happen (never). It’s amazing that $400 will get one of those Sterling Axis now. Almost too hard to resist.
Thanks, 👍 just bought a Sterling Axis FM Neptune Blue with a matching headstock. It’s brand new but the previous model year than the two tone red one you just demoed. I haven’t gotten the guitar yet, as it’s in the mail heading to my local music store from another franchise store. Back in 1998 I passed up buying a Music Man Cherry Burst Axis Super Sport for $899., the same guitar is $3900 today. Still regretting it, and now have to settle on a Sterling Axis.
Dear Alan, great video! I am interested in buying the Axis roasted quilt maple, how easy is it to stain that guitar arm finish? I had a sterling with a maple one and it was a nightmare. Hope you can help me out.
Great information. I really like that sterling axis finish color. Hey would you do a comparison between this guitar and a Wolfgang standard? Is it possible?
Hi Justin! Thank you for watching the video, unfortunately I do not have a Wolfgang Standard in my collection right now. However, over the years I've played and owned a couple of WG standards and I can say with confidence that the Wolfgang is a better guitar. The WG comes with a Floyd Rose Trem and a better set of pickups. I absolutely love Music Man both Sterling and Ernie Ball products but in this case I would suggest the EVH. Thanks for the question.
Thanks for the shout out. It is striking when you pick it up as before you only see the yellow and it's like wwoooooh :)

@@alansamsmusic thank you very much. Your answer helps me! I appreciate your response.
Nice. Does the Gotoh Floyd arm push in or screw in on those?
Sadly I don't have that guitar anymore, but I believe it was push. Thanks for checking out the video.
👍🏻👍🏻
Pickups are the real difference in sound.. branded pickups are much more high end than non branded Chinese ones …
