  • This short video brings you the beginning of the end for the future of the layout.
Filmed over a period of a few weeks early this year the axe finally fell sadly.
Stay tuned for a full follow up video with plenty of news and more from this video.

This was a tough decision to make and what you see here is just only part of what's to come.. there will be a full feature length video released within the next day or so going into more depth. Not all is lost, yet!

I moved house five years ago and managed to save most of the layout for the genesis of the new one, Yeovil Central. Breaking it up was hard, all those years of work removed in a few hours! I feel for you. Onwards and better.

Did the same with my loft layout but my new build will be much better. As we all learn and improve and your videos inspire me to do better cant wait for the new build ..

I feel your pain Tim. Forced to move in the middle of the pandemic I had to destroy Keane’s Yard. But I started again and Keane’s Cove is better and portable! Best of luck

Hi Tim I was not expecting this to happen at all! Over the years I have thoroughly enjoyed watching your layout updates, layout build videos, Running sessions and weathering videos. And it is those videos where I have been givin the confidence to keep woring on my railway layout. Thanks again for showing off all your hard work to us.- Nicholas.

Wow Tim, tough call. Hope you were able to salvage some areas. Loved the river build and area. Looking forward to the rebuild.

Piss in a baking tray. Freeze it. Slide it under their door. Repeat. I had awful neighbors for a while so if you want any tips let me know.

Hi Tim - Although very sad to see the layout go there is always the joy in seeing a new one come to life and it will be a pleasure to continue to watch and learn .

Jeez Tim, I think that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to watch on TH-cam. I don’t think I took a breath for the whole 3 minutes. I’ve loved your updates and tutorials. Good luck with the next project but more importantly good luck in your search for a happier family home. So sorry this had to happen mate. Very sad. Stay strong and build back. We’re with you.

That was heartbreaking Tim, to see your wonderful work go up in smoke.

A few years back I went up into my loft and just stared at my 30 foot layout. It was my first layout and I learnt a lot during its build. After a two hour stare down I reached for my tools and by the end of the day it was gone. Track, boards, buildings etc. Only the trains were left. Its replacement is now nearing ten years old and whenever I go up to the loft, I look at it and realise that scrapping my first layout was the right thing to do. I adore the current incarnation and love playing with it when I can be bothered. I still have not told my wife hpw much money went onto the bin that day.

Very sad to watch but what can be boxed can be unboxed! I’m sure you will find the opportunity to build another excellent layout again soon. All the best with your house move and search for the next railway room.

We knew the time was coming Tim, but it’s sooooo sad to see this amazing layout go to the flames. It must have been incredibly hard to let go. But I KNOW you will be back better than ever.

It’s always sad doing that to a layout. I’ve had to do it for several house moves. Really looking forward seeing its replacement. Good luck.
