Hi Norman, have you got a chain block you can use on the fork lift , 1 man up down left right to get move it a nat must be a pain. Keep up good work nice see traction engine rebuild, lots locomotive about. Steve
@@steamtrainmaker Hi Steve I have but it’s a 250kg Chineseum made unit and I wouldn’t trust it with the crank. Would upset me greatly if I dropped it. We usually have to work with what we have on hand. Would be better with the chain fall and more controlled definitely 👍 I’ve actually just purchased another 500kg lever type so hopefully can put that to work in future jobs. Cheers
Looking great, coming along really well. Do you plan to repaint the engine as the rebuild is progressing? Nice bit of paint to go along with the shiny new bits! Keep it up 👍🏻
@@elliotfuller4783 We are painting bits while they are off and easy to get to. The whole engine will be painted just not sure when we will do it. Thanks for watching 👍
@@VintageIronuk thank you for the informative videos, there’s no real restoration series for traction engines on here. Your last video with the key fitting will help me with making and fitting new keys on my 3” scale miniature roller.
interesting that the oil level goes down when turned one way, but up when turned the other. im assuming you should only put the oil grooves facing backwards?/ the direction of rotation?
@@andyg3 The engine would have run a lot in reverse as well are forward so it wouldn’t make a difference I wouldn’t have thought. We just copied the originals. Lots of people don’t even put them in and run the bearing plain.
Amazing how it all comes together, I'm totally fascinated by your series of rebuild videos.
bloody brilliant. one man and a FLT could rule the world ! Nice patient scraping, good stuff. JJ
Very good detailed clip can’t wait for steam up
As always excellent 40 mins of engineering entertainment, down to earth proper stuff.
well done its come a long way
Well done Norm, theese gettin' thur.
Another job ticked off the list, coming along nicely. Thanks for this weeks update. Brian from South Yorkshire.
All the pre fitting and scraping worked out with nice fitting crankshaft. Cheers👍
Sunday morning treat, to wake to a new Video..I reckon that pump would run in pretty quick
Wow big week! Bet your chuffed to but to get that in. Lovely job
@@Nick-pr5gwSure was nice to see it spin and not bind up!!
great video as always..cheers for up-loading
Looking good it'll be a good engine to road when all the work is done.

great video.
ive got to re make the crank bearings on my half size, this has helped
@@andyg3 recommend having them machined in situ if you can 👍
Bet your Mrs loves you coming home covered in blue 😆. I’m guessing the bronze will let the shaft set its self in a fashion??
@@casto- I’m not allowed in the house, been banished to sleeping under the engine in the shed. 😆 will all run in hopefully 🤞

Thought for a moment that your title was talking about Nicola Sturgeon. Thank goodness it isn't !
