    I don't know what just happened. My first thought was cool, "takedown of a hog with a 22, I've gotta see this." Now all of a sudden I'm crockpot shopping. Lol
    Excellent video my friend, keep up the good work.

    • @abshir9677
      @abshir9677 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The Big Pickle nothing ethical about using 22lr on a wild boar. In most states its illegal to hunt anything bigger than a rabbit with a 22lr. You should be using a bigger caliber if your intention is to be ethical and humane. While it's true that a skilled shooter can kill just about anything with a 22lr. The reality is most people are not marksmen. It leaves way too much of a chance that the shot might not be a kill shot, and essentially would prolong the pain. 22lr should be used ofr hunting big game only in a survival related circumstance.

    I like the shooting and cooking. Living the hunter's life. I like it. I missed the hunting that I had back in Texas. You can try smoking the meat for 2 hours with some peach wood or other fruit woods, then saute and then slow roaster..the smoke adds another layer of complex and buttery fruity flavors. It will be even better. The meat absorbs meat until it reaches 140 F. I usually hang the meat on hooks and have the coals and a metal sheet with some small holes above the grill (to keep possible flames from reaching upwards).

Be sure to check any applicable state hunting laws regarding minimum caliber size for hunting hogs in Alabama or any land owner rules where you will be hunting... and let me know if you are able to post a pic. Best wishes on your hunt... in the mean time practice, practice, practice. :-)

    RE: 10/22 accuracy tip. The slip fit & V-block barrel mount system common on 10/22 seems to benefit from pressure bedding stock to barrel... yes, unlike most screwed in barrels the common 10/22 does not seem to like free floating especially with bull barrels. Tony Kidd 'of Texas' makes his own version of 10/22 custom {sometimes with Boyd thumbhole laminate stock} such as my brother has. His turns in 1"+1.5" @100 yard groups with the el cheapo Remington Golden bullets. Running Tony Kidd's recoil buffer and the heaviest spring that will still cycle reliably is the best way to hush port popping. His action is slicker than Ruger's so you might want a stiffer recoil spring.

      I'm using a Kidd drop in one stage trigger. I smile every time I pull the trigger.
