Pogue Creek Canyon State Natural Area

  • Today, I hiked with Randy Neal, Tim West, and Jimmy Staffey. We wanted to check out the storm damage from the recent high winds that ripped through Pogue Creek. From Black House Road to the Mesa Top Overlook is clear. Also, from Highway 154 to the overlook is clear. The canyon however is in horrible shape. Judging from the number of blow downs, it may be awhile before the trail is fully clear.

    I’m not going to show any storm damage either. There are way to many nice things to see on that trail to show anything else. Except for the heat and humidity, it was a great day.
    We’ll need to visit the overlooks again in a few weeks when the leaves are turning.

      Yes we do maybe throw in Ky Overlook. Couldn’t film the damage. I was too busy fighting for my life🤪

    Rough hike. But it's on us. No one's fault but ours. Still beautiful country.
