- Episode 3 of the ‘What’s lurking…’ series. Today we check out Salt Pan Creek, which is situated between Padstow and Peakhurst, Sydney. It flows empties south into the Georges River, Riverwood. For two sessions I used a Yakka and Squid for bait, and some soft plastic lures, to see what lives in this waterway. Salt Pan Creek is easily accessed by car and a short walk. It has multiple fishing spots for any tide. It houses many estuary varieties of fish, including Bream, tailor, mullet, trevally, and lots of flathead, who love the mangrove-lined banks.

Great to see this part of the world again, my old stomping and hunting ground for the best part of 40 years
One of my locals growing up. A great system. Unfortunate we can’t really eat out of it from that spill years ago but always great fun. Glad someone else is enjoying it 🤙🏽
It's a shame no feed but still great fun
I used to talk to that wharf at least 5 times a week during Covid times. Such good memories. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
Good video brutha ,goes to show there is still life even in the polluted back creeks …that was a perfectly good face mask 😷 too hoped you re used it 😂
Complimentary face mask with every session
Great informative video. Nice flathead haul, pity we can't eat them from that location...
Clear camera work and nice footage mate 👌🎣
Thanks 👍
I think Shroom caught a big jewie on that wharf. Kind of looks like the same place
Yeah nice. Might give it a go
Great fishing spot, they say you can’t eat out of there but I always do with no problems !!
Great spot indeed
I think i saw you on the other side of the bridge that day. Actually night fishing under the bridge here is absolutely amazing, the bad thing is that a lot of mosquitoes out there at night time!
Oh yeah I saw you catch two flatties
Just subbed to help you along. Not a bad session.
Same
Thank you!
Early morning is pretty good with bloodworms or nippers.
Theres some big bream with black rock grabs but hang onc ause theyre brutes.
That sounds like a fun fight
Previous generations could give a, I remember the Italian bloke who serviced his own taxi when I was a kid early 70’s dumped his sump oil into the gutter , which ran down the storm water canals long Wolli creek, then Cooks river- Botany Bay. Criminal act today, the norm back then.
Crazy times
Don't forget the paint factories
@@daallaad funny how we eat imported seafood from countries that pollute without a care
i havnt been here since i was like 6 with dad , thinking i need to get back there hey looks good
For sure. It's a fun little spot
@@1upfishing i almost got that berkley rod too looked good :) how does it feel ?
I really like it. Technically can't fault it. I just wish the drag was louder when peeling off haha
Next time you go salt pan go at night and fish lure at the other side under the bridge Jew and perch in the light line !
Noted thank you 😊
Can you eat the fush there
Department of primary Industries says "Warning: Do not eat".
Should tell him the rod limit, not that it will change him but atleast make him feel. Awkward.
Nice vid and man and good onya for releasing the dogs
He didn't speak a word of English so would have been a struggle to tell him :S
Cheers
Bit risky eating anything caught there
Just a bit. Free covid masks though 😷
Mr 6 rods meat fisho would have had 8 out if you hadn't taken the other rocket launchers. Those guys keep anything even slightly edible and are in some spots every day all day.
They'd be paying for it by eating anything from there
I knew Mr 6 rod's was Asian way before I heard him speak, i bet he's got no problem eating the fish out of that system.
Need the fishery inspector to blitz those that keep all fish., many rods and illegally net.
If the bloke with six rods eats any of those fish, I’m sure he’ll be punished
Sadly fisheries are a joke
@@1upfishing@michaelcalder9089 think what you like about fisheries but they’ve been busy in the George’s River lately. They apprehended people using gill nets in Chipping Norton and they’ve also been busy busting people selling fish on the street in and around Canley. You guys must’ve had some bad experiences with them but I for one pat them on the back every time I see them.
@@1upfishingI don’t blame the inspectors. Blame the government for not giving a dam about the resource and employing more of them. Maybe support them because there’s only 100 of them in the state. They can’t be everywhere at once.
Heavy metals all throughout this area. Government and EPA criminal neglect of the ecosystem.
Such a shame
