    Nice and informative video. Stepped me through changing the battery on my 2016 Fusion Energi perfectly.
    On mine, I need a 10mm socket for all of the fasteners. Additionally, I didn't have the tool for the plastic fasteners. I just reached my fingers under the plastic and gently pulled it out without issue.

    Good video but I would add these items:
    1. If using a jump pack to keep the computer memory intact, be very careful about the loose positive terminal. If it falls against grounded metal you'll have a big arc and that can cause lots of damage to you or the car. I would wrap the positive terminal in duct tape or a plastic bag.
    2. If the replacement battery has a vent on both sides a plug must be inserted into the unused side. DieHard batteries provide a plug molded into the positive terminal cover which can be broken free and used for that purpose.
    3. Coating the new terminals with grease or battery protectant is a good idea.
    4. Using a battery terminal cleaner on the new battery exposes fresh lead which makes a better connection.

      It's not crucial. Worst case scenario you have to reset your clock and radio presets. The computer will also need to relearn some idle and fuel trim settings. There is a formal procedure to do so but just driving it will also the trick.

    What if i don’t use a memory saver? What problems will that create? 🤔

      I am currently having the same problem...I haven’t used the car for 3 weeks and it is dead...How do I charge the battery?

    • @TheGreatUSA
      @TheGreatUSA 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Jessica, you will loose the memory presets on the radio, the seat, and window. All these are no big deal. The car will also loose a couple of its memory settings like the fuel settings. So... “IF” you were to just start driving it immediately (after changing the battery) you “may” notice the car running a lil’bit differently until the car RE-TEACHES itself the proper settings. You can avoid it running a lil’bit differently by simply letting the car run for 5-6 minutes (after changing the battery) before you drive it and it will RE-TEACH it’s self.
      Either way, it’s not a big deal at all. A “memory saver” is simply a 12 volt source hooked up to the positive and negative posts under the hood where you can jumpstart the car. There’s a photo of these posts in the manual that came with the car.

    • @TheGreatUSA
      @TheGreatUSA 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To: WM1019,
      Use the jumpstart posts under the hood to jumpstart the car.
      Then simply drive the car around immediately and the alternator will automatically recharge the battery that starts the car. “IF” the alternator does NOT charge the battery, THEN you know that the alternator or the battery is junk.
      Auto-parts stores will usually check your battery condition for free.
      Batteries don’t last forever, they do need to be replaced several times throughout the life of the car. The alternator “should” last the life of the car, but they do wear out depending on the conditions you drive in.

      A memory saver is something to plug into the vehicle while you change the car battery that keeps the computer in the car alive!
