Something really coincidental and awesome just happened a few moments ago as I was walking out of my car while listening to this song. The first melody had just started playing for a bar or so after the rhythm section intro, and a car alarm from my neighbourhood just went "yee-oh yee-oh yee-oh yee-oh". Guess what? "Yee" on the beat, "-oh" on the offbeat. Exactly in time!! I stopped and checked the timing for a whole minute outside my house, thinking the tempi might deviate soon, but nope, the total synchronization just kept up until right just now someone (presumably the car owner) switched off the alarm. Damn man. If only my phone battery was charged this morning... I would've recorded this and shared it!! :D
Am I the only one who thinks that the part from 5:20 to 7:10 is the most beautiful part, Snarky Puppy has ever written?? I just freaking love that melody and those vibes that come through the perfect instrumentation! This song is older now, but for me it gets even more golden! :)
Man, that bit at 7:45 is brilliant. That casually slipped in, insanely impressive synth bass rundown that just makes Michael League go 'Whoa, where did that come from?!' Awesome. Sums up Snarky Puppy for me. Incredible musicians with so much love for the music and so much appreciation of the other musicians. It's a beautiful thing.
Fun fact: Sput also plays keyboards and was actually a keyboardist as a founding member of the band...eventually, Mike League heard him play drums and couldn't help but make him switch.
Ben Johnson I feel you man, the first time i heard them drop that i was literally going crazy with excitement haha. Such a huge energy change compared to the first half. The fade out was so well executed the only way i could really tell it was done live was the fact the guitars never changed their level. A very chilling performance in my opinion.
at this time, there is not much that blows my mind anymore. in the context of this, this song almost hurts to hear because of its genius, so unbelievable how it is composed and played.
Snarky puppy is one of the best things to happen to me..no cap i love this band.. so impact full I can hear the words if there were any...shouts out to the musicians who came back to life after watching these monsters kill it
Usually in the comments, I see so many haters with 'something' to say, but such good music could inspire NOTHING negative. Snarky Puppy; one of the best things to happen to 2013!
the melody at 5:20 is over the top! literally my fave in the world now! i honestly have replayed it from about the 5:00 min mark to the 7:00 at least 25-30 times today! no exaggeration!! i fuh-riggin lllooovvvveee it!!!!!!!
Its so freaking on point. I actually drive around with that part of the song on loop so can and come up with different lyrics for that melody. As soon as I heard it the first time I immediately learned to play it on my sax.
Just got back from their concert in Philly 30 min ago. OH MY GOD! They performed this and everyone was waiting for the last 2 min. If ya'll think this is good, the live ending they did was beyond amazing. Indescribable.
You disgust me. That's what I like about you. I just adore the percussion arrangements and the synth/horn exchange 'crescendo' dynamic towards what only seems like the end... more surprises! Pimp lean!
Thank you!... when the muted trumpet comes in at the beginning of the build-up... I honestly feel like crying and that section was amazingly set-up by the guitar and piano counter-melodies. Harmonies on the organ, in that final section....uuurrrgghhhhh Pore-Raising-Amazing music!
i love how much the gutar section gets into the ending groove. as a jazz influenced guitarist for 9 years ill tell ya we dont move a whole bunch but how could you not to something as groovin as this haha.
Porbably the best piece of music ever produced. So many different emotions, feelings, expressions. That end is like a live interpretation of all of J Dillas soul in one.
I found out about you just today... I heard the music from a van. A bunch of people at the laundromat were waiting up and the music was going on in the van... I was waiting for some chips just by them and could hear the music and i really liked it, enough so that i had to go ask the man in the van about you. And there i am listening to this absolutely beautiful and amazing music. It's a peaceful beep, really enjoy it. Thank you all for this masterpiece.... keep it up... :o)
In loooooooooooooooove with this too. I can't get this one outta my head now!!! gotta go on Itunes and get all of the albums, every last one of them...
its something about snarky puppy... always hammering on about that 7 minute mark... was searching for this song - heard it on repeat years ago, but that was my criteria.. had to be longer than 7 minutes!:D

at first i thought so as well but with this passage it made me want more which was a perfect segway into their other transition and different style/theme which i loved!
The part from 00:00 to 9:51 is awesome!!!
500% agree
The part at 9:52 was a real disappointment.
Damn but this songs swings.

+PenguinMcDuck You're probably a drummer, I'm thinking of those kind of things all the time.
you got me sitting here going "yee-oh" all the way through the intro now lol
+raitoxote I think it's just a musician thing, I play piano and euphonium and I notice the same type of stuff.
Too Many true that
when you and the car in front of you have your blinkers completely in sync
I woke up yesterday morning at 4am with this song playing in my dream. I WOKE UP humming this tune! ...I must say, it was a nice way to wake up.

I’m so in love with this part I can listen 30 times a day, even in 2020 it’s so phenomenal and incredibly groovy
But Lingus...
@@andrewxu3602 Ahh...that was cunning! :-)

Underrated moment at 3:17 when Shaun echoes the brass on the synth lead and Michaels face lights up.
T'was the lick my friend
Came here to find this moment. Miss you, Shaun.

i laugh the first time listening to this bit before reading your coment, then i read your comment and clik the bit and laugh again jajajaja killer
Shaun Martin everyone 🙌🏾🙌🏾 he does something similar with the synth at 3:15 and you can tell Michael loved it 💯💯

i think michael might be the who played the lick you're talking about
actually nvm
its all "boobidiboobidiboobidiboobidi" and my brain was all "awwwhhh yeahhh unghhhh"

Seriously! Too much skill and talent!
My wish is that I get to see Snarky Puppy live. I seriously have to listen to them every day!!

Is anyone else totally WOW'd at that live studio fade-out!?!?!? I mean talk about being on point!
more WOW'd at the whole piece itself. Michael Eagle, and the musicians. Brass, Percussion, Drums, Keyboards, Guitars. daaaaammmn
Paolo Feliciano Michael League* ;)
TheTheorgrin exactly. sorta noticed it but got to lazy to correct.
Ben Johnson I feel you man, the first time i heard them drop that i was literally going crazy with excitement haha. Such a huge energy change compared to the first half. The hard straight eighth notes played against that triplet... incredibly AWESOME
This whole song is absurdly good on so many levels and all these musicians are unrealistically talented.
{uTa} agrees
My son, the talented bassist, brought me here!!!!!
+Lucas Boyd Awesome Lucas!
+RipenGetlita can you not see he's married to a white woman
RipenGetlita OH shIT DAWG HIS SON WHITE AS HELL
+Lucas Boyd Congrats! He is really talented.
+Joao Carvalho Yes, but he had more time to practice. Or as my best friend Hans Teeuwen would say:"Ze hebben meer tijd om te oefenen"
I thought I hated jazz, but I was wrong! I love it ! I should start playing the trumpet again! This is truly inspirational
Please do, there's a real trumpet shortage these days...
Mike Hawk No joke! Finding a good trumpet player is harder than finding a good bass player!
Mike Hawk I actually feel like there's a shitload of amazing trumpet players. Depends on your attention to detail
+Mike Hawk ooh, i play trumpet!!
how to say a trumpet player, trumpetish ?
The control and dynamics on that build at 5:00 all the way to 6:50 was phenomenal! A real "tasty" trax.
Yes I love that bit. That melody that comes in with the synth, followed by the mute trumpet and then brass section is sublime 👌
And the fact that they teased it throughout the song made the end result far more rewarding
This group never ceases to amaze me
at this time, there is not much that blows my mind anymore.
in the context of this, this song almost hurts to hear because of its genius, so unbelievable how it is composed and played.
These guys are so talented, even the audience's clapping starts off as a 7/11 polyrhythm 9:30
I still regularly come back to this ten years later. Shit is timeless. Bravo, Mr. League and crew.
the intentional dragging at the end of this gives me chills every time i hear it... pure genius
That ending groove is GENIUS!!!
That a band this big exists, plays with such joy and groove, and is doing so well, is in itself a cause for celebration in our all too cynical world.
Snarky puppy is one of the best things to happen to me..no cap i love this band.. so impact full I can hear the words if there were any...shouts out to the musicians who came back to life after watching these monsters kill it
I was sooooo not ready for that last part.

The breakdown at 5:00 is just utter beauty
