She's definitely created much intrigued in the life of a "digital nomad"; and how to effectively and efficiently maximize the lifestyle and work dynamic.
I'm a retired Electrician here in Honolulul and by far you have really given me a lot of information as I am choosing to slow travel versus just move to Spain on a Lucrative Visa without traveling first. 🏄♂🏄♀
Thank you, the information you provided will save lots of time in searching. Sorry that some people who commented below do not get, its about options. The site that shows a $2,000 a month apartment rental, can also show an apartment for $250 a month. You need to look and screen.
Wow, you really nailed that! Because of Brexit ☹ we've been looking for short let basic accommodation in the Netherlands for 2-3 month cycling experiences and airbnb had seemed the best option. But your excellent advice has opened my eyes! One option I had not heard of is Home Exchange and our 4 bedroom house in London would be empty whilst we let abroad but if we sussed Home Exchange out it would save us money and mean our house is put to use which is a good thing. Options 2-10 looked like vey good places for us to dip our toes in the water. Many thanks, it was very clearly presented and you are a star⭐!
Hi Kristin! Again, your video is a fantastic resource that I will certainly refer to, share with others, moving forward. Many useful takeaways here! THANKS!!!
Kristin- Excellent. Thank you for this info. I had no idea there are so many other options besides Airbnb (ugh) for long term rentals. That's why I'm here! Definitely not looking at hostels. I'm beyond that. lol. Thanks again.
Great video, Kristin. As a couple who spends over 75% of the year "slow traveling" this was a great resource for looking at Airbnb alternatives. Thanks.
OMG. So many choices I need to check out! Screw living in the same place for your long term vacation or retirement. I could mix it up and choose a few different ones every year.
That's been my retirement dream ever since hearing a Rick Steves podcast interview with a couple who did it. Now, they had an adult child they could stay with in their home country when they wanted to take a break, so that's something to consider. Steves asked them what they absolutely had to pack for their long term stays in other countries and they said good kitchen knives 😆 bc vacation rentals don't usually have good ones. So that's another thing to think about - what do you HAVE to have in your day to day life.
Kristin - great meeting you at Vid Summit! Loved your presentation. Nice video - and I like how you added yourself in the lower right corner without a square box or green screen ;-)
I found a lot of these rooms that you offer a pretty reasonable prices and there's cheap or expensive as he wants them to be.. depending on your pocket..
I will be enjoying this video/these resources for the forseeable future. Just declined the "competitive" offer of €3.6k for 5 months while my current room in a shared house is just under €400/m. Madness!
Also try searching property sites in the local language such as "immobilier" in French or "kiralık" in Turkish for stays longer than one month. Many times, the real estate sites list rental properties as well as properties for sale.
Oh my goodness! This was such valuable information. We're planning a trip to France in late March. There are great deals to be had. Hopefully we'll get to Provence too. Thank you!

@@TravelingwithKristin We spend two of our 3 weeks in the Czech Republic visiting my wife’s family. I typically use either auto Europe or europcar when we visit. One thing I ask for when renting a car is the ability to cross international borders because where she grew up in the CZ borders Poland and Slovakia. During the first week we go some place in Europe like Italy, France, or Germany. This time we’re looking into going to Lisbon first. This is where your suggestions on rental properties will come in handy.
This was very helpful! Keep these coming. Do you have ideas on how to find property (rental or sale) in areas that are considered more rural but are still great for digital nomads? We can't go completely off grid as digital nomads but would love to be in nature with food and water sources.
