LaMelo put on a show with multiple dunks, Rocket Watts was on fire from three, and Isaiah Jackson protected the rim on defense while finishing everything in transition. It’s a state rule. There’s a good chance someone in the entire state of Ohio can dunk
It is a very common rule for high school athletics. It is the coaches fault for not informing the players before the game.
@HAZZARD They have that rule so that before the game starts nobody breaks the Rim or Backboard and then the game has to be CANCELED.
Imagine how dumb it would be for a team like Spire that traveled so far to the game only to have the game CANCELED 10 minutes before it started.
Most High School players can DUNK. And in warm-ups with no defense you might end up with 20 to 50 Dunks per TEAM.
Eventually after a whole season or 2 season of 20 to 50 Dunks a game for each team and the rim is going to give away.
Schools USUALLY cannot afford to have a backup Goal hanging around to install and even if they did they would need a Professional to install it right.
That's why they have to have the RULE. It's actually common in most states.

Its because they wanted to act like they didn't care and that they were just fucking around having a laugh because the alternative would be coming to terms with the fact that the team you talked shit to and about came to your school with calm demeanor and wiped the floor with you no sweat. He also clapped when the guy got a tech when he hung onto the rim for 2 seconds because he was going 1000mph and he would fly into the wall and land on his neck if he didn't do something to stop his momentum.
People do it all the time if you notice. Just look at that person who you know always gets ahead of themselves and talks reckless trying to be the loudest voice talking without caring about if they are right or not.
As soon as they get exposed its "haha it was a joke wow you're so stupid for taking me seriously haha look how much I'm smiling and laughing obviously i'm not the loser in this scenario" and they cling to small victories like being right about 1 detail
Keep an eye out you'll see it all of the time, don't get it confused with people who can laugh at their self and their mistakes because they aren't stuck up. The key is to determine wether they're trying to negate shame for their actions and downplay how much they fucked up or are genuinely humbled and willing to admit that they did in fact fuck up but that they can laugh about it because they know they ain't perfect and aren't insecure to the point where they can't admit their shortcomings.

“Hanging on the rim” That dunk just past the 18 minute mark…He was clearly off-balance and just needed to regain his balance before letting go. It’s one thing if someone does it excessively and in celebration. It’s more of a necessity if you’re off-balance and just letting go could result in an injury because you fall all awkward. So, *NO* those weren’t all just as simple as saying it broke rules.
The refs were showing obvious favoritism but that still couldn’t help a team with little to no talent vs a team that has their game together.

Being a white kid who played for a terrible D4 tiny school in California that had one black kid... same thing would happen.
