- Lamelo Ball played his first game in Ohio this morning, going head to head with Toledo Rogers in a 9 AM scrimmage that attracted so many fans it was forced to shut school doors, leaving many fans out in the cold.

Melo's teammates never pass him the ball but when Melo has easy layups/dunks he still kicks it out for the three. Kid knows how to play basketball. Yes, I know he'll be selfish at times but that's only if the team is getting spanked, or he's trying to silence some haters.
I wouldn't say that Zo and Melo are all time greats but they're definitely good basketball players that belong in the NBA.
Skills and vision wise, Melo was CLEARLY the BEST on the COURT. He was basically going at about 40%. Once he becomes more COMFORTABLE, U will see how FAR SUPERIOR he is to the COMPETITION.
Black's PG no. 3 is soooo bad. He has no idea how to attack a zone. He just keeps swinging it back and forth to the wings. He looks totally lost. If you're playing against a zone, you have to penetrate or get it to the high post to collapse the defense. You can't just stand there and swing it -- it'll never move.

20:00 is a perfect example of Melos team not passing him the ball. This is why going back to hs wasn't a good idea. You are playing with people you don't know, being coached by someone you don't know and they all want the spotlight. Chemistry and Selfishness is the reason why we aren't going to get the highlights we want

I have mixed opinions on Melo in this game. For one, this is the first time since his freshman year where the whole gameplan is not getting him the ball and getting him his points. He is not really forcing things too much. He is not the primary ball handler which I find a little bit odd, he likely should be. He makes some nice passes. He is trying to fit into the offense and not force his way into the offense. With that said, I dont feel like when I watch him that I am watching an NBA player. I dont feel like I am watching something or someone who is going to be great. He is still terrible on the defensive end. Look at the play starting at 7:02. He has zero defensive awareness on that play. I also saw him gamble for a steal and miss badly, giving up a wide open 3 in the corner. On top of that, he doesnt look to be asserting himself to his fullest. Its still early, only the second game but if he thinks he is a top player in his class he needs to show more than this.

JOE CIOCCO I played high school basketball and it’s not as easy as it looks on the highlights . First off this is a scrimmage game it doesn’t count so most players don’t play to their full potential , it’s like this , why waste energy on a game that doesn’t count knowing you have at the most 3 more games in the same week plus school all week , why exhaust myself , plus with the addition of it being the beginning of the season no one is in full shape to even play a full game yet nonstop so the kids need all the energy they can get , another thing is he is in a different system from chino hills , he’s not the primary ball handler because his coach feels like that isn’t his best roll for the success of the team , he is also way taller than his freshman year and in high school a kid with length is a gift so he’s kinda a small forward for this team . You see their running a real laid back 2-3 zone ... he’s at the back because of his length which really helps in a zone , you have to play regulated basketball competitively to understand another kids play style , he can’t do what he want this isn’t his fun show anymore he has to help contribute to the team the way the coach wants him too and I myself can respect that , what you seem to have missed is lamelo is more unselfish now than ever and scouts LOVE that in a high school kid , it shows maturity and leadership in a player which are great traits for a future NBA star , basketball is more than just highlights and skills it’s a mind thing
