I have had a climbing rose and a clematis growing on a 14’ tall trellis on the side of my house for years and they do grow beautifully together. They don’t hinder each other at all, they dance together like an old married couple. They know just what to do not to step on each others toes 🙂

    • @BettyWhiteJr

@@renebyers6153 mine only get sun til about 2pm. Then they’re shaded by my house the rest of the day. I’m in hot and humid NC, near the coast. They bloom beautifully for me without the full day, but to be fair our sun hits pretty hot so what they do get is intense lol

'Pernille' I have on order for spring, I could not resist those beautiful blooms! Oh, as for clematis planting depth, they benefit from being planted deeeper, setting at least three inches below the soil line and making a depression around the plant that gets filled in as growth develops. This way they'll be more resilient to any possible damage to their crowns and as well develop a more substantial root system.

Reminds me of one of my trips to Creekside & Jerry said to me while smiling “we got in a new shipment of ‘At Last’ roses” after we had just loaded the truck from a purchase. I looked at him while smiling, “Jerry your gonna get me in trouble with the hubs!” Then purchased 3 more ‘At Last’🤣!

Hello Jenny, for me looking at your garden shed is not too bad. It shows that you have a place to store things and well like you said that is life. If we can't see things the way you see it now then for me it means that you want it to be clean and neat and you can't be yourself. Live life to the fullest and enjoy what you see now and not to wait for how it is suppose to look like. Enjoy the rest of your day and thank you for taking us along.

Sweetie, I just don’t think the old chicken coop is such an eyesore. I have always loved the contrast of “shabby chic” lol.
The rest of your yard is so chic that having the “old” coop is relaxing to me. I don’t know if I’m making sense, but basically the style of y’all’s entire property with the garden center is super inviting. Love y’all ❤️

Here in the UK I plant Group 2 and Group 3 clematis considerably deeper (about 3 inches more) in the ground than they are in the pot. Group 2 clematis in particular are susceptible to clematis wilt and planting so deeply means that even if the top growth dies above ground it will regrow from near the base. It also helps to keep the roots cool too. Do you get clematis wilt in USA?

I have a trellis about same size as Jenny's. Years ago, I planted 'Crystal Falls' clematis, pruning type 2 (my suburb is Crystal 🤭) and it fills the entire width and then some.
It grew kind of wild so one year I pruned back to about 12" and it grew up the entire trellis that year. I sacrificed blooms, but it helped keep the vines in check that were growing all over my monarda instead of the trellis.

Hi Jenny, hope you have better luck with the clematis plants then I had with the honeysuckle plants I received from Brushwood. They came in loose soil and looked barley rooted. I planted them right away and they died within a weeks time. I contacted the company and they said they aren’t responsible for the plants once I receive them. I was out over a hundred dollars. 😔

My clematis from Brushwood were great despite this gardener's skills. I hadn't prepared the places to plant them and didn't get to it right away. I soaked the bags in water to rehydrate the root ball (they arrived perfectly moist, it was me who dawdled too long). I got them planted, finally, and they put on decent growth first year. This will be third season so I look forward to seeing their blooms.
