To continue your jouney through mexican music go with Pedro Infante next, with the song ""Deja que Salga la Luna" (let the moon come out). Pedro Infante was an actor from the golden age of movies around 1950. He's known as the people's idol up to these days.
Jose Jose R.I.P. one of the most amazing voices Mexico had. You could also look up Marco Antonio Solis, Alejandro Fernandez, Vicente Fernández, Javier Solis
During the video you can see the camera focus on Angelica María looking at José José and then on Marco Antonio Muñiz, both famous signers. Marco Antonio is with his mouth half open like saying “I can’t believe what I am hearing!” This video was about a contest for the best song. “El Triste” written by Roberto Cantoral got 2nd place. It was not a contest about singers. Otherwise, I am sure the first place would have been José José. This contest made José José famous. The rest is history. José José died on September 28, 2019. If I have regrets in my life is that I never saw a performance from José José or Juan Gabriel (he also passed away). I’ve been living in the States for more than 30 years, and never got the money or time to see them live. Like you, I envy the people that had that luck (we call it the good envy). I’ve been told that people actually cried during Juan Gabriel performances.
Believe it or not, Jose Jose was a close friend of my family, and I had the pleasure of knowing him. He was incredibly humble, and very kind to his fans, a gentleman to the end.
He is known here as "The Prince of Song" The incredible thing is that this was a contest and José José came in third place. The public demanded that they give him first place but it did not happen. The author of the song, Roberto Cantoral, wrote that song dedicated to his mother, while he traveled to attend his funeral and José José interpreted it wonderfully, you can feel the pain in his voice. It's funny that you mention Frank Sinatra because José José is considered his equal here, it is said that at some point Sinatra mentioned that he wanted to record something with José José but it was not possible, although it is known that Sinatra gave him some advice. Unfortunately José José passed away in 2019. Thanks for reacting to mexican music, it's not because it's my country but we really have many artists who stood out incredibly!
So far May everything I have listened to from Mexico has truly been amazing! A country really full of talent! I can definitely see why José José is considered equal with Sinatra, they both have incredible talent!
“En Vivo” is not part of the title, it indicates that he’s is singing it “live” it is a real-time singing, live feed, no lip syncing, no electronic voice enhancements, just his voice, the microphone, and the orchestra. You might also see it as “en vivo y en directo ” Lola Beltrán is another singer with a powerhouse of a voice. She used to sing with the microphone half a meter away from her face. The Mexican Golden Age of music was from the 40’s thru the 70’s it was was indeed golden.
That was for a song contest in 1971. You won't believe it but Jose Jose just won a 3th place. 50 years after, nobody remembers who won the first place but that night Jose Jose became a legend. He died few years ago and at the end of his life, he almost lost his voice. From Mexico, please react to ZOE "Nunca" (MTV Unplugged)

I found your channel for your BTS reactions and as a Mexican ARMY this video was such a nice surprise. Juan Gabriel is my favorite Mexican singer but Jose Jose is a pretty close second, his voice is like honey to the ears and this performance is legendary, everyone in Mexico know about it.
Music is the most important thing that brings Latin Americans together, from Mexico to Argentina. It doesn’t matter where we are from, we all grew up this artist. Is great to see foreigners loving this

This presentation was part of a contest on this music festival. Believe it or not, Jose Jose was not that night's winner. But he did receive his nickname going forward: "Príncipe de la canción" (Prince of the Song).
His voice is incredible. It sends chills all over my body. One of the most beautiful VOUCES I’ve ever heard. Frank Sinatra said it was his favorite VOUCE. Sadly, he lost his VOUCE later in his life. ( some kind of vocal polyps) He was a very kind, humble man. What a voice!!!!! He passed away about 5? Yrs ago. Watch IL VOLO IN LATIN BILLBOARDS SING THIS , JOSE JOSE WAS IN THE AUDIENCE. ITS ON YU TUBE. YOULL LOVE IT. I listen to to this almost every day. HE WAS CALLED THE PRINCE OF SONG. BELOVED IN MEXICO AND WORLD REKNOWN. MEXICO HAS GIVEN SUCH GREAT DIVINE TALENT TO THIS WORLD.
That's for all the beautiful words. He passed away already. Unfortunately! ... And fun fact ... My grandmother was at that concert that day and she said that the goosebumps were that much that everyone was crying .. I always get chills when I tell this story ... ❤❤❤🎉
it feels so good when foreign people enjoy mexican music as much as you do, love your reactions man. I think your next reaction has to be Pedro Infante singing "El jacalito" or "Cien años".... and another amazing voices are Luis Miguel, Amanda Miguel, Alejandro Fernandez and Marco Antonio Solis
I definitely agree with the commenter. If Vicente Fernandez is our king, then Jose Jose is our prince. Sadly, he did lose his voice later on in life. He died in 2019. Mexico has a lot of beautiful voices with beautiful songs sung by powerful voices. Thanks for the reaction!
I love that song and the message in it, saying that it is okay to feel sad due to someone leaving or dying, it is okay to mourn them, just absolutely amazing arrangement and José José's voice was without equal, just bloody amazing. Also, the people looking in awe at his performance, those are also legendary singers on their own, like Marco Antonio Muñíz and Alberto Vazquez, incredible singers and entertainers, but even they just were mesmerized by that voice. One more thing, remember Trace Adkins' song, You're Gonna Miss This? Well, I have a recommendation for you, check Kenny Chesney's song, There Goes my Life, you being a father of young children you need to check it and yeah, you'll probably gonna cry with the video and the lyrics, but check it out.
@@GOTGames Yeah, is because the OTI, the competition, is not about the singer, is about the song writer, that's why many producers and singers from latinamerica were present. You wanna know something else? El Triste didn't win, and to this day nobody remembers that another artist Jose Luis Rodriguez 'El Puma', a legend too in South America was the one that won, because apparently the judges preferred that song, nobody agreed with them, but in the end, the song that is remembered to this day is this one, so I guess in the end they won.
I’m sure someone has suggested this legend already. In Mexico he carries the title of “El Imortal” the immortal because his music transcended genres, race, and embodied everything that is the Mexican culture of the time. Pedro Infante. My ultimate favorite song of his is “Cucurucucu Paloma” buuut if you looking for something impressive that goes beyond your expectations and is a true demonstration of hard work , practice, and talent then check out “El Jacalito” most of what you will find on you tube will be from movie clips just in case it throws you off a bit. Can’t wait to see you react to him soon. Keep up the hustle 🎉 👏🏽
Hola Jose José passed away already but there is another singer that’s still performing its name is Arturo Vargas, the song ( el pastor) who is the mariachi Vargas in the Philharmonic from Queretaro. I know you would love this performance too hy from Los Angeles, California
Hi, I used to think English people hate México, and Spain as well an so. Then it is quite refreshing for me to see: this honest reaction to one of our most fine and loved interpreter (intérprete) . Unfortunately he passed away a few years ago. He had an amazing life but with a huge issue with alcohol that destroyed his voice. This performance was I think his first public show (I mean in mass communication broadcast) so it was his presentation personal card. The woman that you see in the video is Angelica Maria, another singer, but already famous at that time, and other man with the open jaw is Marco Antonio Muñiz, another amazing performer from the begining of the "Trio" Music. and other artist were there in the Festival. This wonderful Mexican song was first sung by another great Argentinian singer, and with a great success in SouthAmerica, but with José José reached its top. Grettings from México
I love your reaction to this song. José José's voice was awesome and the lyrics for this song are so good. It's a shame that video you watched didn't have accurate lyrics. But with his voice alone I could get to people's hearts 💕
You know, it's incredible to hear a voice from the 70s with that power, and the very educational orchestral accompaniment, it makes me understand that music, despite the time, always transmits feelings to you!
Thanks for do this reactions, I love watch your passion when you listen our songs what for us are like National Treasure and Pride. Cheers from Mexico City.
Great reaction my friend. I told you, this song in the voice of Jose Jose is absolutly amaizing. He has an other beautiful songs, but for know him, this is the best. Greetings.
I've seen this but it's been a long time, I'm amazed and impressed at his voice and stage presence, and look how classy everyone is dressed and well mannered everyone is, love your reaction can it get any better with Mexican music, it seems endless
What I love about music, is that it is international. In whatever language is in, English, Spanish, Japanese, Korean etc. It unifies us all as people. Even if you don't understand what they are saying you can still get the meaning and passion behind their song.
Luke, did you ever think you would have fans all the way across the world in your wildest dreams? About this video though... That made me cry so much. Makes me miss my Mexican inlaws.
GGGooooolllllllll !!!!!! in the final of a championship!!! it feel like this. We all in Mexico, miss our great José José. Thank you for your reaction... very strong too.
Oh boy! El Príncipe de la Canción is a staple of Mexican (and Latin American) vocal perfection. I remember asking my mom for cassette tapes with his music for Día de Reyes when I was a kid lol.
You lovely human, make sure you go follow Skid on Twitch for the music reactions! I'll still be live Tues, Sat and Sun. Just wanted to let you know! Feel free to message on insta too! Much love!!
This was Jose Jose's greatest performance, he himself said that he was never able to recreate this show. Easily one of the greatest live performances...and he got 3rd place in the competition.
Tons of thoughts flood my brain re-watching this landmark performance by José José', as well as seeing your appreciation of it! I think I'll address them bullet-point style. • It feels like a crime that someone hasn't gone back and used modern technology to remaster that performance. It's so exquisite, it deserves a quality medium! • It ain't just us peons who admired this performance. At 4:30 into your video there's a quick look at Angélica María in the audience, a world class actress and singer/songwriter. Then 10 seconds later @ 4:40 they catch another world class singer, Marco Antonio Muñiz with his mouth hanging open, "como bobo", stunned by what he's witnessing. • The breath control to sing this song well is insane. That little "hitch" or whatever one calls it, that he inserts mid-phrase, makes breath control that much more difficult. I know. When my friends and I get together for barbecues and some outdoor karaoke, I often sing this song. I'll never be as good as José José, but the challenges this song presents have made me a better singer. My wife always tells me how red my face is when I finish that last note! Ha! She ain't wrong! • I hope I'm not spreading incorrect info, but I heard that at this competition "Festival II de la Canción Latina", that the theme was happiness. Despite the fact that everyone in that audience knew José José had delivered the best performance, he was robbed and got 2nd place because his song was about sadness. To help those reading to have a full appreciation of just how sad, I'll provide a good translation below. • There's an authenticity and realness about Mexican music that makes it fantastically beautiful and grabs me at my soul and when it's performed like this, it's transformative! • Based on your reaction to this performance, there's another one I'd also highly recommend. The group is called "Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan" and is the preeminent band today carrying the mariachi torch. The lead singer and band leader, Arturo Vargas, is the singer in this performance of a song called "El Pastor" or "The Shepherd". There are may versions of them performing this on TH-cam, but I'm going to provide you the TH-cam channel and the video title to the performance that I think best showcases his voice. His tone is buttery smooth, every note is perfectly in tune, his yodel-like flip from head voice to falsetto is flawless and appears as natural as a smile, and he has the most insane breath control I've ever heard! TH-cam Channel: Omar Mora Mariachi Video Title: "El pastor Arturo Vargas Mariachi Vargas En Vivo 2022" Now, as promised, here's my English translation for "El Triste" that José José sang in this concert. I felt compelled to provide a decent translation because the "auto translate" of the Closed Caption feature felt really flat, pedantic and flat-out wrong in many places and this song deserves better. Translating songs and poetry is really challenging. You can't do it literally, because it loses the original meaning and is robbed of poetry. You can't do it strictly as poetry because maybe you impose your own interpretation on the original meaning. You can't do it just for meaning, because it risks losing the poetic feel of the original. It has to have a balance of all 3, literal translation, meaning, and poetry. This is my best effort and it at least will get you closer to the passion José José was singing about. "The Sad One" ("El Triste") How sad it was to say goodbye to each other When we adored each other more... [than ever] Even the swallow migrated... Foreshadowing the end... How sad everything looks without you, The seas have fled away from the beaches Colors have been stained gray Today, all is loneliness. I don't know, if I’ll ever see you again, I don't know what will become of my life Without the blue morning star of your being, That no longer illuminates me CHORUS Today I want to savor my pain... I ask not for compassion nor pity The story of this love was written for all eternity “What a sad one”, everyone says of me That I am always speaking of you They don't know that thinking of your love, of your love I have been able to help myself go on living, I have been able to help myself go on living. CHORUS (Repeats) Today I want to savor my pain... I ask not for compassion nor pity The story of this love was written for all eternity “What a sad one”, everyone says of me That I am always speaking of you They don't know that thinking of your love, of your love I have been able to help myself go on living, I have been able to help myself go on living, I have been able to help myself go on living. And here's the original song in Spanish EL TRISTE Que triste fue decirnos adiós Cuando nos adorábamos más... He podido ayudarme a vivir, He podido ayudarme a vivir ESTRIBILLO (Repite) Hoy quiero saborear a mi dolor... He podido ayudarme a vivir, He podido ayudarme a vivir, He podido ayudarme a vivir,
Thank you for reacting to our Mexican talent. You’ll have tons of requests to react to great Mexican artists that you’ll end up opening a side channel to react to Mexican music only 😅. Juan Gabriel, Vicente Fernandez and José José are just the tip of the iceberg. Greetings from a Mexican in the 🇺🇸
I saw Jose Jose live many times......and was incredible!!!!! He came to my restaurant after concert. He was a great guy!! so educated n polite Jose Jose past away sadly
As a Mexican who loves your videos I feel really proud because you listened to this song. We have great things and not so good things but this feels good. I know my compatriots are going to recommend you great songs and I hope you can visit us some day ( I also would love to visit London and have that ice cream with you). I would like to recommend to you bizarrap videos, he is Argentinian but he is one of the most recent talents in Latin American music, everyone reacts to his videos when he releases a new one. He basically is a music producer who works with a latin American singer at the time creating master pieces. If you want to start the journey I recommend the video of Bizarrap ft. Snow tha product, she is a Mexican who lives in US and sing in English and Spanish. I believe you will like it. Thanks again.
My brother is a Mariachi Singer here in Michigan. But a singer you should check out is Pepe Aguilar. Him and my brother look and sound alike. Its amazing really how it works out like that lol.
I've seen him perform when he was older, but still a great singer and such an appreciative and gracious performer. No one has matched, imv, the depth of emotion and nuanced expression that he conveys in his sining. He's known as the Frank Sinatra of Mexica, and Sinatra was a great fan of his. In 1971, Jose Jose had a crossover hit in the U.S. called "La Nave del Olvido."
Jose Jose said during an interview that this performance was one in a lifetime and that not even him could have repeat such amazing perfromance, sadly due to alcohol addiction he lost his voice,he passed away September 28. 2019 of pancreatic Cancer at age 71 RIP Jose Jose
Oh boy! I watched this live with my mother in 1970, yep! aging myself. He didn’t win but no one remembers who did. Unfortunately, he lost his voice due to the bohemian life he lived; still, he left a large repertoire for us to enjoy still today. Try “Payaso”, “Almohada”, “La nave del olvido” for now. BTW, the man watching with his mouth open was at the time the top Mexican singer LOL.
Thank you for so honest and impressive reaction! The singer that you havve reacted to, have several very good songs. Some other artists you can react to, are: Luis Miguel, Lila Downs, Ana Gabriel and Zoe.
I watched this video with my family and we were moved by your happy and genuine reaction to Jose Jose, thank you and as a new recommendation to something of rock from Mexico would be the band Molotov, “Dixie”, “ Pagaras” or “Animal” from the band Dildo and “ Pachuco” or “Kumbala” from the band Maldita vecindad
That's the night when he really started his beautiful career. All those people in front row, where long time singers with serious careers. They knew right there that a star was born
Since we reacted to Juan Gabriel this has been a reaction I have been so excited to record!!

José José one of the best singers in the world, super star in latinamerica
That's for all the beautiful words. He passed away already. Unfortunately! ... And fun fact ... My grandmother was at that concert that day and she said that the goosebumps were that much that everyone was crying .. I always get chills when I tell this story ... ❤❤❤🎉
My god, the instruments, the voice! Is killing meeeee! Jose José deserved that kind of musicians playing for him.
I put on José José, the Mexican prince of music, when I get sad or hearthbroken
it feels so good when foreign people enjoy mexican music as much as you do, love your reactions man.
I think he is so awesome. Love, love his talent and songs. I love his song Gavilon o Paloma.😊
Thank you for the recommendation my friend! Would happily check that one out! I didn't realise the other people were singers too! That's amazing.
I highly recommend you listening to Ana Gabriel - Luna (live, with her mariachi outfit)
Yesssss!!!!!
The one and Only
JOSE JOSÉ
LOVE LOVE THIS SINGER
👍👍💚🤍❤️
🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Amazing Amazing Amazing ….. there are no words to describe that unbelievable voice and performance !!!!!
Greetings from Mexico XOXO!!!
I love your reaction to this song.
José José's voice was awesome and the lyrics for this song are so good. It's a shame that video you watched didn't have accurate lyrics.
But with his voice alone I could get to people's hearts 💕
Really is incredibly talented!
Next one: 'Amor Eterno' by Juan Gabriel please!
That one is mandatory.
That song makes me cry, ALWAYS
You know, it's incredible to hear a voice from the 70s with that power, and the very educational orchestral accompaniment, it makes me understand that music, despite the time, always transmits feelings to you!
Thanks for do this reactions, I love watch your passion when you listen our songs what for us are like National Treasure and Pride. Cheers from Mexico City.
I'm glad you like his singing but you definitely would love "EL Pastor" by mariachi Vargas !!
Broooo, nailed it!
Probably José José is the best mexican singer ever
It's always charming to view or listen to Jose Jose, however it was really a delight to see your genuine reaction! Well done.
Great reaction my friend. I told you, this song in the voice of Jose Jose is absolutly amaizing. He has an other beautiful songs, but for know him, this is the best. Greetings.
One of my favorite mexican songs, thank you for reacting to it Luke!
My pleasure! Loved this!
I've seen this but it's been a long time, I'm amazed and impressed at his voice and stage presence, and look how classy everyone is dressed and well mannered everyone is, love your reaction can it get any better with Mexican music, it seems endless
Many of the people in the audience are also famous. El OTI used to be THE festival for all Latin America on the 70's and 80's
What a pleasure that you react to our Mexican music. Greetings from Sinaloa Mexico, friend 🇲🇽👍
Much love my friend! Much more music from Mexico to come! So much amazing music to hear!
Saludos desde México 🇲🇽👍😉
😭😭 this song get’s in my feelings every time, great reaction ❤ un abrazo
fun fact, he ended up in third place in that competence, and the first and secod place were familiars of the judges
Luke please react to The Pretty Reckless - 25, it's amazing rock band!!
Great reaction!💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 Beautiful song!
You lovely human, make sure you go follow Skid on Twitch for the music reactions! I'll still be live Tues, Sat and Sun.
Just wanted to let you know! Feel free to message on insta too! Much love!!
@@GOTGames I’ll be tuning in and checking out whatever you’re up too! You know me, I’m always up for a new journey! #wafflegang❤️
You are incredible too!!!
I highly recommend you checking out the song el pastor. It’s one of the most challenging songs to sing out there.
This was Jose Jose's greatest performance, he himself said that he was never able to recreate this show. Easily one of the greatest live performances...and he got 3rd place in the competition.
NEXT STOP IN YOUR JOURNEY THROUGH MEXICAN MUSIC HAS TO BE "JAVIER SOLIS," SONG "ESCLAVO Y AMO".
TH-cam Channel: Omar Mora Mariachi
Video Title: "El pastor Arturo Vargas Mariachi Vargas En Vivo 2022"
Now, as promised, here's my English translation for "El Triste" that José José sang in this concert.
"The Sad One" ("El Triste")
How sad it was to say goodbye to each other
When we adored each other more... [than ever]
Even the swallow migrated...
Foreshadowing the end...
How sad everything looks without you,
The seas have fled away from the beaches
Colors have been stained gray
Today, all is loneliness.
I don't know, if I’ll ever see you again,
I don't know what will become of my life
Without the blue morning star of your being,
That no longer illuminates me
CHORUS
Today I want to savor my pain...
I ask not for compassion nor pity
The story of this love was written for all eternity
“What a sad one”, everyone says of me
That I am always speaking of you
They don't know that thinking of your love, of your love
I have been able to help myself go on living,
I have been able to help myself go on living.
CHORUS (Repeats)
Today I want to savor my pain...
I ask not for compassion nor pity
The story of this love was written for all eternity
“What a sad one”, everyone says of me
That I am always speaking of you
They don't know that thinking of your love, of your love
I have been able to help myself go on living,
I have been able to help myself go on living,
I have been able to help myself go on living.
And here's the original song in Spanish
EL TRISTE
Que triste fue decirnos adiós
Cuando nos adorábamos más...
Hasta la golondrina emigró…
Presagiando el final...
Que triste luce todo sin ti,
Los mares de las playas se van
Se tiñen los colores de gris
Hoy todo es soledad
No sé, si vuelva a verte después,
No sé qué de mi vida será
Sin el lucero azul de tu ser,
Que no me alumbra ya
ESTRIBILLO
Hoy quiero saborear a mi dolor...
He podido ayudarme a vivir,
He podido ayudarme a vivir
ESTRIBILLO (Repite)
Hoy quiero saborear a mi dolor...
He podido ayudarme a vivir,
He podido ayudarme a vivir,
He podido ayudarme a vivir,
Thank you for reacting to our Mexican talent. You’ll have tons of requests to react to great Mexican artists that you’ll end up opening a side channel to react to Mexican music only 😅. Juan Gabriel, Vicente Fernandez and José José are just the tip of the iceberg. Greetings from a Mexican in the 🇺🇸
React to Arturo Vargas with the song ( el pastor) you’ll be thrilled with this song and his performance 🇲🇽🤗😇
I saw Jose Jose live many times......and was incredible!!!!! He came to my restaurant after concert. He was a great guy!! so educated n polite Jose Jose past away sadly
Great reaction greetings from 🇲🇽
As a Mexican who loves your videos I feel really proud because you listened to this song.
I love how you react to mexican singers, makes me feel so proud as a mexican....
Me encantan tus reacciones , súper pasionales !
THANKS FOR REACTION A MEXICAN MUSIC
Yeah the most impressive thing about this performance was the breathing. I would have died on stage if I tried doing that.
Please CAMILO SESTO GETSEMANI...
RIP Jose Jose, viva MEXICO!!!
Love your reactions ❤
Arriba Jose Jose!
Jose Jose said during an interview that this performance was one in a lifetime and that not even him could have repeat such amazing perfromance, sadly due to alcohol addiction he lost his voice,he passed away September 28. 2019 of pancreatic Cancer at age 71 RIP Jose Jose
😢
Great you give me more reasons to watch you videos
Also Jose Jose considered the Mexican Frank Sinatra
Thank you for your reaction and apreciation to jOSE jOSE , gretings from Mexico City.
Gracias a usted puedo valorar más a José José cantando El triste. Muy bueno su análisis. 👍
That's the night when he really started his beautiful career. All those people in front row, where long time singers with serious careers. They knew right there that a star was born
Jose José is amaizing you voice unic in piace rest for the music and art thenks for this reaction
