    just wait for people to take a photo of it and upload to the internet saying "look a diesel EV charger!" -_-

      I’ve seen similar units to this set up at a motorway services at killington lake in England. Looks like it’s being used as a buffer for the EV DC chargers due to grid constraint.

    It's like my wee i-MiEV, people snigger at it until that actually take it for a spin, and then it's "oh it is really smooth", "it is zippy", "it's so quiet" , "it's bigger inside than it looks", and then I tell them it only costs me $1:98 to charge up for 200+ kilometers of driving. Cars, trucks, diggers, they're all better when electric!

    Nice presentation there. The factory Representative is well versed and knows the impact and market share these machines, trucks and chargers could take. The idea of a mobile charger is correct just as diesel bowsers used to travel to sites. Theft and contamination is a problem on sites these days, especially where regular not died diesel is stored. I wish them well. Very slow uptake of electric machines or trucks here in the States. The dummy who walked off site allows a new more adaptable person to take his place. Probably a better operator as well. 👍🇺🇸

    This is so cool. So are you now "Gav the builder...can you fix it..." ;) Well let them walk off site, suddenly their unemployed and someone else who isn't so stuck in the past can have their job. Looking forward to seeing the big rig when it arrives that will be cool and very much like the Tesla Semi(look-alike for sure). The other thing is councils who don't allow heavy equipment operating either at certain times or days of the week due to the noise means this equipment can, as Bjorn has also shown in Norway as well.

    On site battery bank to provide rapid charge is the way to go! Constant grid load, then charge machines while parked.
    For some sites, I bet just is enough if you have "only" 22kW or even just 11 kW grid connection, you can save all of it during the day, to deliver more energy to machines over night.
    The battery can help to provide high power when the vehicle battery is low, then when the battery bank starts to run low, the vehicle battery is high, and you possibly have to debate anyway.

    Love this. It brings joy to my soul.
    I’m sure that these will simply skyrocket past diesel heavy equipment. The maintenance and humungous fuel savings are too good for businesses with a bottom line to ignore. Costs over years measured out by corporate beancounters is where these will be adopted. I’d imagine that even if there needed to be a redundant diesel genny for the whole site incase of shortages from site batteries, would be more efficient simply charging on demand than having tons of heavy plant burning away all day.

    What would I say to someone who said the day they are made to operate an electric digger is the day they walk off site?
    “Bye!” 👋

    Awesome looking trailer. Bit concerned at how easily you got to unguarded HV contactors-I'm guessing you didn't spend long or use any tools to get there?

    There are no diesel saving in this equation as the charge is coming from a fast charger at Z and that cost is more than the equivalent energy cost of Diesel, otherwise makes good sense for sensitive situations.

    Nice. Just begging for one of those concertina pv containers for a self contained self powered job site. Imagine, zero fuel/energy cost construction.

    The should be cheaper than their diesel counterparts...think of the complexity of a diesel engine then replace it with an electric motor - infinitely simpler.
    These maintenance savings from an electric digger (or car or anything) comes from that reduction in complexity and therefore must reduce the cost.
    I often get the argument about the cost of batteries. This is a furfy promoted by greed - batteries are around $130/kwh - 89kWh around $12,000. The electric vehicle industry is gouging us.

    Great to see electric tech infiltrating so many sectors beyond just transportation. Maybe pull Noel aside and educate him on the difference between kWs and kWhs though. His abbreviation to kilowatts makes him sound like he is less than an expert in his field, just saying.

    I didn’t realise Isuzu produced an EV Ute capable of towing the 3.2T EV charging trailer! (it’s a D-Max)
    It’s a shame the costs don’t stack up at the moment. I guess you could import an F150 Lightning and convert it to RHD for another $250K for an all up cost (for the set) of $1M.

    Quarter of a million dollars just for the battery trailer alone. I wonder how many of them they will sell?

      A few, maybe initially as a "power as a service" model where they provided power by delivering a fully charged pack, take the empty one to a fast charger then deliver that to the next customer taking their depleted to be charged etc etc. They could even collect them all on a Friday night to have them work at events on the weekend to be back on site for Monday morning

    I can’t beleive it, you’re promoting this like it’s a good thing. Your diesel Ute tows a diesel generator but you call it green. Do it because you like it by all means…but don’t you dare try and say it’s better for the environment. Honestly sick of narrow minded views on these things and not the larger picture.
    No im not against electric cars, they have their place, but your spin and selective points makes me sick

  • @nzer57
    @nzer57 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Cringe! The maths doesn't stack up. We have a grid and power generation that can't keep up now. Good luck with commercial charging stations. The cost is horrendous. They ignore infrastructure requirements at base, labour to service/fuel equipment, downtime, and limited range. Businesses that tried it in the US and went broke.

    • @PatandAndreaArchibald

    • @alastairmacdiarmid8331
      @alastairmacdiarmid8331 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      What math would this be? You know everything has a cost right? Just because it's not accounted for doesn't mean it doesn't have to be paid. The cost to all of us for a couple of hundred years of burning fossil fuels and dumping the result into the atmosphere is going to be horrendous. All your other points are bogus.
