  • Welcome back here!
The Nike Vomero 5 came out in 2010 as a Performance Running Shoe. Recently it has been reissued but is now classed as a Fashion Shoe.
Watch as we take it on an actual Run in Rural Luxembourg. Is it a viable option? How does it stack up to today's Running Shoe market? And is it even the same shoe as the one released 14 years ago?

Most of my 2024 running shoes weigh way more than 308g LOL including my Vomero 17 and Pegagus 41 and even Pegasus Plus but, joking aside, ones like most of my Endorphin Speed versions even in a UK 13 are less than that. Imagine those Vomero 5 in my size would top 400g. I have also bought a few retro running trainers (Pegasus 2005 and Air Zoom Alpha from about 1996) and yeah there did seem to be a lot of "excess" both in overlays, pseudo suede, plastic heel cups and overblown rubber outsoles. Shoes were of course lower stack than now and foams firmer but equally still thought they are "runable". Back in 2010 and indeed for most of my 40 plus years as a runner, have always tried to go for lightweight racer/trainer for my daily shoes. So back then it was Nike Zoom Elite or adidas Boston as I recall. Kind of same sort of shoe as Peg Turbo/Plus and Endorphin Speed.

@@TimGrose They would be far over 400g in your size, or what is your heaviest Road Shoe? Even my second heaviest Road Shoe, the Nimbus 26 I mentioned, is still only around 270g. So it' s really a different weight class. But like I said, it feels less brick-like than that.
Have to admit though, this shoe is not 'fun' and it certainly doesn't help in making running any easier. But it' s quite a different experience to nowadays. So I really enjoyed this 'experiment'.

I want to start running outdoor. Do you have any suggestions for beginners?

Great to hear. I think you can' t go wrong with a nice and simple, stable Daily Trainer like the Nike Pegasus 41, Brooks Ghost 16, Hoka Clifton 9(if you want a little more cushion).
All solid picks that get the job done:)

So in conclusion, its a lifestyle shoes that can properly use for Run?, well i travel a lot so i need shoes that looks not to sporty and goes well for a bit of Run, i kind a like just bring one shoes for my travelling so is vomero good for that kind of need?

Yeah, I think that's a fair assessment. It's just not as good and/or lightweight as modern Running Shoes. But it's fully functionable. So if you like the look, then then it does the Running Part just fine.

Thank u for your reveiw. My foot size is quite big so I had no choice but to buy vomero5 that I could find only. I’m currently wearing the Nike Pegasus 37, but the toe area feels a bit narrow and uncomfortable. How would this shoe work for me? I don’t run fast, keeping around 6 minutes per kilometer, and usually run distances no longer than 5 kilometers at once.

Oh yes, the Pegasus 37 was a very narrow shoe... This should definitely do the job then. But Nike does make an extra wide version of the Pegasus 41. Might be worth checking out as well? These are fine for running but I do think the Pegaus 41 is an upgrade in every way.

@ how about vomero5 ? is it still good option?

Sure... But I do think the Pegasus 41 makes more sense if just buying it as a Running Shoe.

Actually runners in africa still wearing vomeros. And played shoes does not really help for training

It depends with the plated shoes. There are good arguments on both sides really. I personally use them all the time...

@@Vargiamis Oh, that's actually hilarious. I had no idea. But in my head I have a list of phrases I know I use way too often such as 'Actually' of course or 'at the end of the day' or 'what it comes down to'😂
