How did it go? I’m doing a 8 foot chimney rebuild and imo saving the brick was the wrong thing to do. I will probably never do a job using the existing brick again. New brick is the way to go, if the customer doesn’t want to pay the extra then some else can do it. 👍🏻👍🏻
This is great. The only improvement I can think of would be extending the table towards where you're standing, so you can slide the bricks towards the chisel in a steadier manner, like with a table saw.
Yes it works, but you may find the hammer drill is getting trashed. It gets damaged if there's no pressure on the chisel while it's running full power. It works until it doesn't

Great idea! I have to pull down an unapproved brick wall and rebuild and don't want to waste the brick. This could save me days!

@@akaredcrossbow if they pay appropriate extra for the extra work using used bricks (I know they don´t want to), then why not

Just go into any store that sells power tools and ask for a hammer drill. Make sure that the tool has a hammer only setting.

What if you don't have a "hammer" thingy?
You could do it with a hand held hammer but it takes a very long time.

Its very expensive method.
You can use a massonry hammer or chisel hammer and do it by hand.
Its as quick and as effecient as this method.
Not very expensive for me. And a lot quicker than by hand as you describe. This is my experience.
