I'm laying in my hammock on my deck listening to the rain overlookin the lake, living the sailing life through your eyes. It's absolutely amazing Thankyou.
A classic example of why redundancy systems are always a good thing to have. So are spare parts for such occasions. That is, of course, if it can be fixed at sea. Great video again Bobby.
Siesta kinda tripped me out too my first trip to Italy. ...was out spending time away from Aviano AB walking through Rome around 3:30pm and all the window shutters started to close ...within a 30 min period the whole shopping area was ghostly quiet ...i didn't know what to do ..so i got on the train and headed back to base
I think i have seen that racing boat 9:12 on a other channel watch?v=O4kIE8AhCB0 from 8:12 where you can see a little from the inside of the boat (its on delver so no sail up)
A part of Sardinia is one of the blue zones were people live a very long time. Lots of centenarians. Were you close to that part of Sardinia? What are they eating?
I explain it in the next video but basically the 110 Oman genset is bigger than the standard panda 220 genset so the cable is routed at a different angle and causes chaffing.
It’s not the EU that allows you to cross borders without checking in. The EU is just a trading group. It’s the Schengen zone that you are travelling in at the moment.
Ramino Man ha...the EU is a political animal not just a trading group...which is why the British decided to leave - Schengen was a treaty made by members of the EU...
Can't distinguish the name of the alarm system. Can you please post it. You are right they are packing docks and mooring fields to tight. Love the videos... Thanks
New boat, custom build as per buyers specifications and you have a small cable doing your steering ! Why no Hydraulic steering systems ? ? ? Let’s put on 100 LED lights and one bad ass alarm but we will use a small cable to steer this baby !!!!!
Went out with a high school buddy to do some water skiing when we broke the steering cable that was the end of water skiing one guy on the throttle cable and the other working the steering mechanism below deck. We limped in O.K. lot of loud yelling because of the engine below deck being exposed and all but yelling a command hard port or easy starboard was the only option in this situation.
Did you figure it out? A Catamaran has 2 motors so turning on a dime...one motor forward, one motor reverse. Turn left, right motor fast whilst the left is in low, neutral or reverse. etc etc
So weird... A crew of guys from Dalhousie yacht club entered the Lake Ontario 300 this past week and had our stearing cable break on is too. Then the emerg tiller broke... thank goodness the auto helm was in line and was able to take us home. sorry just thought this was a weird coincidence is all, continue playing in the sun guys. love from Canada.
The steering cable system was from Teleflex and was undersized for the Helia 44. In the last couple years of production they switched to hydraulic steering.
Mike Ferguson Agree on the feel, but I see a lot of monohulls and cats with hydraulic steering, that changed over from cable for the very reason of the cable breaking. Most all use a auto pilot on passages anyway.
The Mediterranean is always cold. We were in Amalfi on the Italian Coast in September 2018 & the water was freezing. Not to mention the lack of sand on the beach. Lake Como was warmer at the same time..........who'd have thunk!
Why does an almost million dollar yacht have an incredibly lightly built cable steering system? No surprise at all that although basically brand new, it broke under nearly no stress at all, in a calm mooring field. Why does an almost million dollar yacht have an autopilot system that is unable to handle the vessel under moderate sailing conditions? If I were fountaine-pajot, I would be trying to pay off these knuckleheads whatever they would accept to remove this video.
Thanks for the continual commercial to sell a boat. The channel has lost all of it's REAL content. Have fun with your new rich buddy. And we all thought Lady K sailing was getting bad ?? Get a boat of your own. Long live the Old Sea Dog. God bless !!
And the boys are very happy with Bobby's parents!! We take great care of them. At the moment they are on a trip with Bobby and Laura and the 4 of them are having a great time.

You’re not in a bad place either!
A classic example of why redundancy systems are always a good thing to have. So are spare parts for such occasions. That is, of course, if it can be fixed at sea.
Great video again Bobby.
This is probably the second best way to see place of interest beside being right there on the boat with you, thank you
I now have Corsica and Sardinia on my bucket list.
I haven’t seen a video in which Laura hasn’t been all smiles.... You guys are living the life!
Laura is the sunshine.
Good Job you guys. together and mild is fun.
Liked your video and seeing different boats and owners
About time the hounds make a re-appearance. They've been missed.
Another great video from Sailing Doodles. Thanks B&L!!!
Wonderful droan photography, the views are amazing! Cruising does mean fixing boats in exotic ports it seems LOL . Have a awesome day, love the video!
It’s a new boat and the rudder system goes out. Sounds like a design issue. A replacement part may not solve the problem. Thanks for the video. 👍👍👍
Nice video. The Mediterranean look like a fun place to sail around. Hope all is well with yall
Beautiful scenery!
Had the same thing happen when sailing out to the Barrier Reef, PITA
Luick is the coolest Frenchman i've ever seen
Great stuff Bobby! Remind your friends to always carry spares for critical systems.
Glad to see more 'boat stuff' in your videos. Some of the ladies and the area you are visiting is also good but 'boat stuff' is great!
That was funny. See you in 5 minutes!!!
The throttle cable on my motorcycle is almost as big as that steering cable > and no manual tiller?
Another great adventure Bobby & Laura!
👍👍 Great video,Bobby, thanks for taking us along!! Keep'em coming!😀😎🆒👊✌️⛵️🏝⚓️🇺🇸🇺🇸

Thank you!
Points for your Capt Ron reference with the " if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen out there " line
Lose the white framed sunglasses. They look good on no guy ever. Besides that, great videos. Been watching for a long time.
always an adventure in a full mooring field, glad you made it fun, what else can you do, its all part of the journey
Probably better than loosing your rudder control while at 10,000 feet in a Cessna Caravan!
Rudder is no big deal, now the elevator...
@@zruvanastrian6062 Yup, you can talk to Boeing and the FAA and airlines around the world about that particular problem.

Not much of a sailor but loved to come and cruise with you
Thanks Flying & Sailing Doodles for providing a great alternative to boring crappy network TV
Great video, thanks for the views. Would it be possible to attach another cable to the broken one to patch it till replacement shows up ??
Got a bit lively there 👍👍👍
Bobby that’s why Amel’s cost so much ! They don’t use cheap cables for there steering systems ! ! !
What is the name of the town that you were moored at in Sardinia?
In an airplane a control cable failure could be fatal but in a boat you just throw out the anchor and have a beer.
Haha yeah very true!
Htf does a steering cable break on a boat this new? There has to be something wrong with that instalation tension?
A part of Sardinia is one of the blue zones were people live a very long time. Lots of centenarians. Were you close to that part of Sardinia? What are they eating?
Michael Muha it’s mainly that they don’t kill themselves working!
Hate having to switch moorings at night. Done that for similar reason. Was the manual steering cable chafing to cause the premature failure?
I explain it in the next video but basically the 110 Oman genset is bigger than the standard panda 220 genset so the cable is routed at a different angle and causes chaffing.
@@Sailingdoodles Thanks Bobby, I appreciate the reply. Enjoyed watching the girls get along so well. Enjoy the strong dollar!

What the hell was the shot the lovely Laura got for her attire at 7:21 ? Sometimes it doesn't look like you have any feelings for her.

Looks like you hit Sardinia during Siesta time.
Yes that’s for sure
I hate it whenever I break the steering cable on my million-dollar yacht while I'm in the Mediterranean with two beautiful women on board!!!!
Yes! And it happens so often.
Tough day but shit happens, story of my life I WISH !!!!!!
A twist in the rudder. And a rip in the sail. Drifting and dreaming. Throw the compass over the rail

You should head for Puerto Vallarta Mexico a fun place to be !!!!
I have the opportunity to sail Sicily or Sardinia next year. Which island did you prefer?
: Keep having fun. ⛵
Do you have the link for the security system?
That's scary, is was in perfect condition during daily inspections and to go out.
You guys have a good vlog. I'm always surprised your subscriber numbers are as low as they are. Keep up the good work. "Build it and they will come".
She has a Batman flashlight,,,,I want one !
Doodles 🐕 🐶...😎😁
Bobby's looking good with that beard! No homo!
Yikes!
Don't you carry a cable repair kit? Common item carried by many motorcyclists on tour, especially on older bikes.
A new boat without hydraulic steering. Very curious. But then nothing is perfect.
Is Bobby using Just for Men hair dye????
Nice capetin 😍😚⛵💑🎊🎊💐
what ever happened to the boat that you bought and was damaged in a storm?
So...when are we going to figure out white sun glasses make the wearer look clownish and narcissistic?
Big comical shades seem to be a trend in the Y/T sailing community...just like getting pregnant!
How did you get on that mooring ball with no manual steering? That had to be a task of it's own. No vid for that one?

"We get up at 12 and start to work at 1, take an hour for work and then at two we're done! "
Odd. Never heard a question about WHY or HOW that cable separated.
The steering cable system was from Teleflex and was undersized for the Helia 44. In the last couple years of production they switched to hydraulic steering.
I would’ve thought he would have hydraulic steering on a million dollars boat.
cable steering gives you feedback and you feel as you sail. Hydraulic is for powerboats
Mike Ferguson Agree on the feel, but I see a lot of monohulls and cats with hydraulic steering, that changed over from cable for the very reason of the cable breaking. Most all use a auto pilot on passages anyway.
Why don't you have hydrolic steering That's what I have on my Cat.
Douglas McCarty bully for you

I can't wait to wake everyone up with my #Krakenvekta5
this is a potentially reoccurring theme with F. P. cats. They under engineer the steering consistently
Kevin Patrick they under engineer a lot including the coach roof on the FP 42!,
Nice location to break down. Catch some Zzzz's. Ol' Luic is taking advantage of the situation. Smart man!
well, the afternoon nap is called siesta. its really just the gringo tourist crazy enough to endure the midday heat really....
Great video, Bobby and Laura. Broken cable? In a brand new boat??? Really??

Brand new boat as and it has broken steering cable!
Take the camera and follow Louique! We want to see his honey!
what kind of boat deals ya'll working on? i'm ready for ya'll to get back on your own boat.
Working on it. Have some options. We will be on our own boat in November but not ready to announce anything yet

jackyd5900 Agreed 100 % . The dam boat hasn’t been nowhere and cables are breaking ! But hey we have cool LED lights and bad ass alarm lol 😂 !
Can anyone agree with me that the white sunglasses are kinda Goofy. And black shades would look so much better.....
YES !!!!!! Mr. Cool Beans.
Ah, sorry, sort of a stoner here but why didn't both boats just shorten their anchor chains by 15 feet each?
We were on a mooring ball... no anchors
@@Sailingdoodles oh hell I thought you had lines to mourings... sorry, too many grateful dead concerts I guess!
