Mace Windu is a Jedi Master who is apart of the Jedi Council he played a pivotal role in the animated TV Show the Clone Wars, Mace Windu also had brief cameo in The Phantom Menace & a larger roles in Attack of the Clones & Revenge of the Sith while he would become the first victim of Darth Vader & Lord Sidious which would lead to the start of order 66...

Mace Windu didn't construct his purple lightsaber until after Episode I. Before that, he weilded a blue one.

@@chris_bowers33 Yeah, pretty much! If you look at the behind the scenes pictures for the Episode I, you can see that Mace is wearing a different Lightsaber hilt than the one he has in the latter two films, so it's not the same lightsaber.
While Mace Windu's first Lightsaber has since faded into relative obscurity, it was surprisingly apparent back in the day, having been seen not only in the video game, but also card games, toys and comics.
